- Attracting and keeping beneficial insects is a great way to deal with pests without resorting to chemicals. This is a webinar I did on it hosted by Jackson & Perkins and The American Rose Society.
I found out by accident this year that my native evening primroses were acting as a catch for the Japanese beetles. They preferred them to my raspberries and roses. Excellent reason to be lazy and not weed 'em out 😆
Thanks and nice to know!
In my younger years, in the military I was in food service and we had to learn about different things concerning food safety and it covered pests and what to look for I found it fascinating that there's actually a insect food chain. Anyway I have a question, last year it was either Late July or August I had a I guess you could call it a swarm of dragonflies I don't know if that's when they hatch or whether there was a food source there but there was one day in the afternoon from about 4:00 to 6:00 where they were literally just swarming within a four house radius and I was wondering if it was a food source that they found or is that when they mate, but there was literally thousands of them
That's pretty cool, but in all honesty I know little about them.
@@Paulzimmermanroses thank you for taking the time to reply, looking forward to Spring I'm biting at the bit looking through all catalogs for what I want to plant this year and I will be getting the Pope John Paul II roses from Jackson and Perkins. Happy gardening
