You're comment honestly makes me so happy ❤️ Glad my videos could be helpful as you get started 🥰 I learned so much from watching nail UA-camrs myself!
So you've asked a former esthetician for advice on skin care. 😎 LOL! This is something I can easily nerd out about, so apologizes in advance for my novel. So, I don't have any Korean skin care recommends. I've tried several, but when it comes to efficacy at a good price, my go-to brand is Prequel. It's by a "celebrity derm" but he products are really sound. I think it's mail order only right now. If you are combo dry, you should do a gentle wash, hydrating serum, and finishing moisturizer. You can get a toner or a hydrosol if you want a slip cleanser in the morning, but it's not necessary. Only wash, serum, and moisturize your face at night (ideally at least an hour before bed so it soaks into your top skin layer to help with barrier control) and then rinse with water in the morning and apply a light moisturizer or sunscreen. In fact, if you use zinc sunscreen I would just apply this as your moisturizer as the zinc is good for barrier control. Unless you have hyperpigmentation or acne I wouldn't recommend any actives. If you are interested, I can recommend three things specifically from Prequel, otherwise you want to look for a milky, oil, or gel cleanser with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid or sodium hyaluronate and something simple like ceramides. For a serum, go for pure hydration, so those two hyaluronics again. Moisturizer: oil/water emulsion med to thick weight, it literally doesn't matter what is in this as long as it's a good formulation, but if you can pump it then do that as a pot moisturizer shortens shelf life and increases chance of bacteria transfer. Now for a "treat yo'self" get some korean paper masks, those are excellent and usually really gentle. A lot of masks you get have all kinds of crap in there to try to do something whereas the Korean paper mask fomulations mostly understand that you are trying to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Some have aloe or seaweed that are good when your skin is inflamed, though. There's a brand called Celavi on Amazon I like a lot that falls into this category and is reasonably priced. I would not do a physical exfoliant unless you want an aspirin masks (unoated aspirin and a few drops of water to make a paste). Or, you can do an enzyme mask like once a month, something with plant/fruit enzymes - they do a good job of softening only the dead skin that is already trying to come off, and gives you a nice smooth texture. BTW I absolutely love F-Gel! I have a magnetic from them that is my favortie, they have so much depth since some of the particles are meant not to move so you get this lovely full coverage.
As an English teacher, I do love novels 😅 But no, I do really appreciate the advice, Lydia! I currently use a hyaluronic acid moisturizer in the morning, then a hyaluronic acid+peptide serum at night with a Curology formula. Do you have any experience with Curology? I do have acne prone skin that results in hyperpigmentation if I get a pimple that's cystic, and I feel like it has helped, but it has been getting more expensive 🥲 I'd love to hear your suggestions for Prequel--I'll check them out! And yes, the F Gel magnetic gels were so sparkly 😍 Absolutely love the blue I got!
@@GetPressedNailsByC I don't think I've heard of Curology, and their website doesn't show ingredients unless you become part of their program. A bit of a red flag, but perhaps it is a genuine referral after skin analysis, so I won't assume. That said, cystic acne usually has a hormonal/internal component. It's like psoriasis or eczema - you can treat flare ups topically, but you usually treat the overall condition by reducing the stimulus and/or taking something internally. OTC there are very few things that actually treat/prevent cystic acne. Peptides are fine, but are more about reducing signs of skin aging than lasting change. You might do well with something that has salicylic acid, especially if you are prone to heat causing issues. At first, I would try for gentle and hydrating, and the only thing I would switch up is making sure your moisturizer is non-occlusive. I should mention that I was attracted to Prequel initially due to being rosacea friendly (I have rosacea). My boyfriend uses some of their stuff for eczema. If you want to try Prequel specifically their cleanser is called "Gleanser" (gel cleanser), the serum is "multi-quench" (you could also try Lucent=C if you don't have any issues with vitamin C) and you might want to try their "Barrier Therapy" skin cream as your moisturizer because it's good for night time and daytime so if you are dry during the day you can use this and it's not heavy. I used this for a while before switching to their Urea cream, and my BF still uses this because he likes how it absorbs and doesn't feel greasy - you can use on face and body. Oh and I really love their sun screen, as well - very creamy, goes on nice and does not settle into dry patches. I have sensitive skin and I've had no issues with it. This was super long again (lol) but maybe helpful? I noticed they are having a Labor Day sale so I am going to pick up a few things too. :D
Thank you so much for the info, Lydia! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge 🥰 I do think my current Curology formula helps, they've just upped the price, which is a bummer. I do have a cleanser with salicylic acid that I use on occasion, and my acne luckily has gotten much better with age. Now it's just an occasional pimple or cystic around my cycle. I'll check out Prequel, though, because I do need a nice sunscreen! Thanks for chatting with me as always, lovely ❤️

Thank you for watching, Leanette 🥰
I just did a zillabeau order I have to carts on accident and I went and did my order and it was the wrong one 😢 I was so sad because I had 2 of the monsta Gels in my cart so sad. I can't afford another order, and I can't return what I don't want, so I'm a bit stuck. Seeing these polishes makes me need them even more, lol. Always love your hauls.
Oh no! 🙁 Has it shipped already? You might try emailing them to see if you can cancel if it hasn't. I did that once unfortunately too and ended up with some duplicates. Now I've made a wishlist of all the products I want to get so I can check them off and double check my cart each time 😅 Sorry to hear that, though, that's a bummer!

Thank you for watching! 🥰
Are the sheets thick or thin?
The sheets are pretty thick! They're meant for the aura nail look where you cut out a small piece to encapsulate 🥰
