I understand SO much when you said you could pick five or more warlock decks in your top 10. I learnt the game's basic minions tradings and positionings from zoolock, control and combo perspective from handlock, deck building from renolock, and also considering health as resource for most warlock decks. Warlock DK is my first insta craft legendary even I usually used to wait a bit for the safe dust spend. There have been so much fun from varieties of powerful or meme combo warlock decks (but still hating snip snap warlock😐) Good memories.
It's interesting to see what the decks have in common. From what I can see, most of them start by playing one way and then transition into playing another way. Beast hunter starts off as a token deck and transitions into tundra rhino bursts. OG Shudderwock shaman had a few decent removal spells, but had to survive by playing a lot of minions too, and then of course transitions into the Shudderwock loop. Quest mage started by generating and playing lots of spells, essentially being a deck build around mana cyclone and flamewaker, before transitioning into quest shenanigans. Kingsbane rogue was an aggro deck that transitioned into forgoing the board in favor of buffing the weapon. Grim Patron warrior had to play for tempo to not get run over, but it could always transition into massive charge damage bursts. Raza Priest was similar to Shudderwock shaman in that it had some decent removal but also had to play minions to survive, before transitioning to the Anduin finisher. C'Thun Druid played a bunch of control tools before transitioning to the C'Thun win condition. Even handlock, a deck from the earliest days of Hearthstone, could transition from its gameplan of playing and taunting chonky dudes to doing cool burst combos with faceless manipulator. Obviously not all of the decks fit this mold; the paladin and DH lists didn't really change gameplans, although they did have some cool high cost cards and longevity. But I think in general, Martian's favorite decks played honest hearthstone in one way or another before transitioning to a cool mechanic or combo later in the game. And I think that's neat.
I know most people dont like it, but my favourite deck of all time is ignite mage. I just LOVED that simple but high apm style and it was the deck, that i never got bored of, even when it should be boring. Quest mage never stuck with me tho. Now the thing i love is evenlock. Nerfs to goldshire gnoll will hurt it quite a bit tho. Hopefully in rotation they revert them.
I enjoyed playing Ignite Mage even if I didn’t like its affect on the meta. It gets a lot of hate for being broken (deserved) and being simple (who cares?), but casting bigger and bigger fireballs all in one turn was exciting. Players enjoy different decks for different reasons, I wish it was easier for everyone to talk about the things they like without having to add a disclaimer 🫤. Just cause something needs to go doesn’t mean it can’t be fun while it’s around.
@@MartianBuu I agree 100% Also ignoring Taunt and just getting to your wincondition was something that was very fun for me. No real blockers, once you reached that certain point and just shoot them into the face. :D Also the term bigger and bigger Fireball reminds me of bigger and bigger men. I like that too. ;)
super awesome video! this is my second time watching and id have to say that wild cubelock during MOTLK is probably my favourite deck of all time. i think i got 500 wins on warlock with that deck. my first and only golden craft is bloodreaver gul'dan because of that and other controlly warlock decks. special mention to KNC control warlock with Rin. that deck is so special to me because i consider it to be like the brother of cubelock. they share a lot of the same DNA but differ in really important ways. i never actually played the deck at the time since i started playing in Saviours of Uldum but have watched youtube videos on it and fell in love with it, then i went and made it and played it in wild. the deck really sucks in wild but playing azari is something special.
Awesome video ! Love when you're talking of all this Hearthstone experience you've gathered over the years. My favorite deck of all times has to be Caverns Below rogue ! I'd give it more specifically to the Witchwood version where you'd still have to run Brewmasters and Minstrels, the deck becoming too trivial from the revert to 4 names and the addition of Ram commander later. Special mention for Bioluminescence Shaman ! Warfariner
watching Firebat play caverns rogue during boomsday was the craziest shit man. He had such a way with that deck in high legend. That was when it was a tempo/infinite resource deck with a single lab recruiter, zola, and valeera hero card to keep your 4/4 minions filling your board and deck for the entire game.
First learned of your channel during your KB days and I was grinding my first golden portrait of the time. Couldn't've gotten to 500 without your expertise on the deck and I've been a subscriber ever since! (can you believe it's over 2 years now? we old)
Commenting my top 10 before watching, Warlock was Cubelock, Druid was C'thun Druid (first legend), priest is Raza (Not shadow), Warrior is pirate pre-quest, Rogue is Kingsbane, Mage is Antonidas Quest, Shaman is Frog Shaman, Hunter is Spell Hunter when Rhok'Delar came out, Demon Hunter is probably Tax DH and finally Paladin is Holy Maki Roll Paladin (favourite deck atm). Fun to try and think back and decide a favourite deck for each class.
Loved the list, it took me back seeing the dude paladin! here is mine DK: even dk hooked me specially the FROST version DH: Spell DH Paladin: handbuff paladin (bodybuilderhs version on barrens) gave me my first legend ever Hunter: tonk/ beast / secret with drektar shaman: elemental shaman mage: barrens ping mage rogue: Galakrond was the best deck i ever played warrior: big warrior on standard i just love Rattlegore priest: aggro shadow priest druid: beast druid pretty cool warlock: discard warlock before tome ban
My first legend deck was a variant of Garaashaman’s big Druid. By far my most played class. Over 9k wins. Was really into warrior when Elise was played. I always(99%) won the warrior mirror because I was so efficient with my removal. Loved Shield slamming my Sylvannas. Sylvannas used to be a HUGE problem, but with modern HS, I don’t think it would be.
My favorite deck ever is easily Malygos OTK Druid , it was so fun and i guess it's needless to say that druid is my fav class of all time. I really enjoyed the video and it made me feel so nostalgic that i wish i could time travel back just to play a few decks at that time.
Nice video idea! Nice trip down memory lane thinking about old decks. I’d say my favorite deck of all time is the Wispering Woods type version of Token Druid. I vaguely remember Violet Teacher being used too, probably because of Oaken Summons
I always immediately think of this tournament final here when I think of Token Druid. ua-cam.com/video/5kyAUUAP6jE/v-deo.html The attrition in that finals had so much nuance for a mirror
i'm pretty sure 100%, every paladin decks in Un'Goro run Stonehill Defender. "Out of my jungle!" :) Basically a 2nd and 3rd copy of Tarim, sometimes Tirion.
The most fun I ever had in HS was my homebrew Standard Highlander Warlock in Darkmoon Faire. The deck sucked, but there were just enough greed packages that I was excited to play the cards and just enough missing-links to where I was playing wack junk like Midway Maniac to get by. I ran Headmaster Kel'thuzad comboed with Cascading Disaster and I can't tell you how many games I whipped out that combo and got an instant concede. What a deck.
I was inspired by the one per class rule you applied to your list so while I'll try to be brief I ask that you forgive the incoming wall of text. For context I'm and on and off again player whose played since beta, and while I wouldn't call myself a bad player however my love of banging my head against a wall trying to get to legend with greedy jank decks means I've only ever gotten to legend once and not to long ago either (voyage mini set to be exact) so I'll let you decide how you use that info. DK and DH - I haven't played nearly enough DK or DH to really verify what I would consider my absolute favorite but the ones I'd say have come the closest would be Dragon reno DK with the new colossal sindragosa and kazakusan as a finisher, and a jank big dragon DH with vandarr and frizz kindleroost with the idea being pulling both from abyssal depths and using relics to discount large dragons by and absurd amount. Rogue - Dane's various versions of big rogue have historically been my favorite however the roll the bones combo deathrattle rogue takes the cake in terms of fun I've had with the class outside some occasional amazing games with pirate admiral hooktusk. Moving to my least favorite class: Mage - I'd probably have to say old school greedy reno n'zoth mages of KotFT that were a rank 10 special of mine are the most fun I've had with the deck. Mostly because even though I've come to despise the class direction of mage over time it still had one of my favorite hero cards ever in frost lich jaina. Priest - this is probably the easiest one for me to pick solely because of how many variations of raza priest I have played, Nathria shadow versions, meta spawn of shadows versions , full greed galakrond versions with nerfed raza, an ozruk version, the list really truly goes on. however the version I'd pinpoint as my absolute favorite has to go to the pre-anduin reno priest. with two copies of shadow form, frost giants, confessor paletress and even kodo rider. Kibler deserves a mention for putting me on to what would end up being the shell of the deck through his youtube videos but I can't really say he was a direct inpsiration for the horrendous lists I used to run as that'd be a disgrace to the dragon master. Shaman - I won't beat around the bush It's big shaman, but not summon neptulon lightning bloom BS big shaman, it's the chad oldschool random reincarnate big shaman from all the way back in GvG with sneeds, kelthu'zad and slyvanus among other jank. From the moment I first saw that kripp video from 8 years ago called "the ultimate combo shaman" I've been playing the archetype with each ne batch of big bois that comes out. And if you are wondering if that means I got to legend that one time with big shaman you'd be wrong, mainly because I always have to include my boy KT in there since that reincarnate combo is a big reason I got really invested into hearthstone. Hunter - A lot of my fun in hearthstone actually comes from inside the deck collection screen and thinking about all the ways I can make older cards that see/saw no play work. Now OG C'thun definitely had it's day in the sun, however hunter is probably not the class you'd expect me to have OG c'thun slotted into. But indeed a homebrew that I've been developing every expansion since Witchwood has been C'thun hunter. Stich tracker and Emeriss being the main cards to form such a deck around. With a small minion poll to make finding key cards off tracker, and emeriss to make some girthy old gods, with a lot of spell/secrets and weapon inclusions for early game board control. However the only time in my hearthstone history this deck was even somewhat viable ( and by viable I mean it got me to rank 7 once back before the ladder changes) was during rise of shadows with the slower meta and the inclusion with Barista lynchen in particular carrying a lot of weight. And yes Lor'themar theron is in my most modern version of the deck. Warlock - Now you'd think off the back of something like C'thun hunter I'd probably have some really jank greedy reno deck to tell you about. But you may be surprised to learn that while yes control rustwix warlock is my second favorite deck, My first is actually a lackey zoo warlock using Dark Pharaoh Tekahn, Disciplinarian Gandling to create a board full of 4/4's and kill the opponent the old fashion way. It was the first deck I ever made it to rank 5 with and was really my go to until better more fun options came out to quickly get up to higher rank floors to test my other jank. Warrior - There is one synergy here that has made warrior a continued target for my terrible deck building and is second only to the previously mentioned Kel'thuzad reincarnate combo. That being Dr.boom mad genuis giving rush to Foe reaper 4000 and various jank mechs. This interaction has spawned literal dozens of renditions of reno control warrior over the years but the one that stuck was a menagerie reno warrior with new'zoth, spirit of the rhino and a rush package, with dr.boom value being the tertiary win condition. Druid - My favorite combo class of all time. mostly because It's had the tools to make combos the easiest but mostly because all of the combos outside maybe linecracker are amazing spectacles. However My absolute favorite combo deck is actually the only purely standard experience I have on this list. I only played it when the core mechanics were in standard, I've barely tried to reiterate on the concept in modern wild, having too much fun with other druid archetypes and I don't have any drive to try and recapture the fun I had. The deck I am referring too is ChumpHS 's Devilsaur star aligner druid. I love star aligner, witching hour stopped being good in hadronox druid so using it again was fun and sometimes even though I'm value player through and through sometimes face is the place so hitting it very hard can be fun. Paladin - My favorite class and the one I got my first 500 wins and 1000s wins on. So what jank did I make with this lack of a clear design direction over the years class Triple wave reno menagerie Paladin during darkmoon fair. Murlocs + call to arms for early game control with anyfin can happen, ziliax two other mechs to come back from kangor's endless army, and a variety of minion types including some of the previously ressurected ones to come back from new'zoth all tied together with the wonderful reno paladin package. This deck is personally really fun since menagerie paladin in particular has been a pet deck for the longest time so having everything come together to make a jank deck felt like a dream come true and every day I played that deck during that meta game the more I grew to love it. So yeah sorry again for the wall of text and with most of this being homebrew jank I don't have exact lists only modern versions so if you want I can put those in further comments. and finally great video martian! I loved to hear part of your hearthstone journey being a relatively recent subscriber.
This video is making me so hype for the wild nerfs, I’ve already been trying to break the meta with older decks, this just gave me more fuel ⛽️ Also ps. Beast hunter is wild rn, Mecha roo, k-9 dredge dude, and the 1/1 with divine shield, it’s delicious fun! 🤤 Also my favorite deck of all time was “ spectral Cutlass rouge, end of sunken city before nathiria but when we got Renathal for free, or when secret passage came out. Ez my favorite archetype, I got legend with it and I was so proud of myself I built it from complete scratch ❤
About as good as any time/place to ask for a deck suggestion. I'm looking for something fight-y, brawl-y, slugfest-y etc., win or lose, I want to duke it out with my opponent til the end. Something "fair" and likely "Tier B", since I don't mainstream and/or overpowered strategies in games. Which decks could fit that description?
Man, this hit the nostalgia hard. I think I just deleted that paladin deck from my library a month ago :DD I could not bring myself to it, but i had my library full. Beast Hunter I agree with, it's kind of like Hearthstone at its purest (minus Hydralodon, that card is aids). Also the otk hero power automaton was fun - not very good though :DD In the shudderwock deck, I think we were running the battlecry doubling and the elemental cost reducing two-cost elementals to guarantee the infinite shudder, and the 4 mana 2/4 that draws an elemental. I don't remember running acolyte + mana tide + far sight for that long. Maybe this one is a less refined version.
Buu try the new dragon Kazakus palley, it is a really nice control, with the inclusion of Jailer and Bolf it is quite nice. It reminds me of the oldschool full control palleys, here is the decklist: AAEBAZ8FCoT8AoetA5PQA/reA+CLBISwBOWwBNC9BJfvBK+TBQ/iEZ3sAtn+As+GA8vNA/neA8zrA4v4A5yfBO6fBJLUBIHiBMDiBKeTBZGkBQA= I have taken out crystology and a flash of light for jailer and bolf and it kinda works. Also loving your vids man, I think you are now my favorite HS streamer and youtuber.
im putting a giant red target on my back for listing my favourite decks but here goes alterac valley APM mage- i recall playing this the day before the sorc nerf as a send off and had 1 game where i got hit with a rat on 2 and parrot on 3 losing one sorc and luna, then playing drekthar on 4 to kill my opponent as if nothing happened outland quest mage- first time legend was with this deck, was also the deck that got me the 1k wins portrait for mage. sadly its unplayable now with the sorc nerf and i despise the new parrot quest mage, its so much less interesting reno lpg mage- playing brann into dragonqueen and having 70 mana worth of stats on board without actually paying for any of it with a loatheb in the same turn is fun ok
I started playing HS from sunken city, so I don't have a lot of experience with decks. But from what can I tell you right now my favorite standard deck was probably curse warlock and elemental shaman (carried me thru apprenticeship) that's back when snowfall would get the buffs. And the only deck that really made me interested in playing wild was shudderwock shaman, just the strong core of it and how much can you tech in it was so cool to me, I crafted it and so far it's by far my favorite deck ever and is the big reason why I play wild only and have no intension of playing standard. I also really enjoyed overload shaman on my alt account it's so funny to just suddenly have 20/30 damage bursts out of nowhere, might not be that fun for my opponents tho 😂. Would like to try Curse Warlock in wild too since I've seen some decklists that work in Legend.
After nerfing many old cards, few people use them! This is also the reason why fewer and fewer people play, because they have to keep buying new cards. Many old twicth players have gone to battlegrounds
One of my favorite decks that actually somewhat worked back in the day was a shaman deck called. Murloc/Quest/spell/highlander/dragon/galagrond/Totem Shaman! It still exists in hearthpwn XD
I don't normally like to say someone is ever wrong about an opinion, but you are wrong about paladin, the best paladin deck of all time was Hand Paladin from Rise of Shadows, the way this deck of arena cards was able to synergise was insane, that was my first ever legend push as well.
Wow the nostalgia is real, loved sunkeeper tarim as a card to play and play around.
I understand SO much when you said you could pick five or more warlock decks in your top 10.

great watch man, this video kinda made me realize I pretty much judge time by hearthstone decks
my list
paladin - shirvallah holy wrath otk
demon hunter - kaelthas inner demon otk
hunter - Katrina/cube deathrattle
shaman - witchwood shudderwock
mage - ungoro quest mage
rogue - keleseth tempo rouge

Loved the list, it took me back seeing the dude paladin! here is mine
DK: even dk hooked me specially the FROST version
DH: Spell DH
Paladin: handbuff paladin (bodybuilderhs version on barrens) gave me my first legend ever
Hunter: tonk/ beast / secret with drektar
shaman: elemental shaman
mage: barrens ping mage
rogue: Galakrond was the best deck i ever played
warrior: big warrior on standard i just love Rattlegore
priest: aggro shadow priest
druid: beast druid pretty cool

I'm so with you on Paladin decks
Loving all the new fun content, keep up the wonderful work!

Man, it seems as though from Un'Goro until Boombsday was the golden age of hearthstone. Both Wild and Standard.
This video is making me so hype for the wild nerfs, I’ve already been trying to break the meta with older decks, this just gave me more fuel ⛽️
Also ps. Beast hunter is wild rn, Mecha roo, k-9 dredge dude, and the 1/1 with divine shield, it’s delicious fun! 🤤
Also my favorite deck of all time was “ spectral Cutlass rouge, end of sunken city before nathiria but when we got Renathal for free, or when secret passage came out.
I really loved ungoro mage. With bunch of control stuff, ice block, DK, Alex, Mediev
Also the otk hero power automaton was fun - not very good though :DD
In the shudderwock deck, I think we were running the battlecry doubling and the elemental cost reducing two-cost elementals to guarantee the infinite shudder, and the 4 mana 2/4 that draws an elemental. I don't remember running acolyte + mana tide + far sight for that long. Maybe this one is a less refined version.
Its the opposite actually, the elementals that guarantee infinite were in the early versions of the deck and cut by the end of the expansion.
yeesss yesss another vid enjoyable by someone not playing wild right now :)
Buu try the new dragon Kazakus palley, it is a really nice control, with the inclusion of Jailer and Bolf it is quite nice. It reminds me of the oldschool full control palleys,
here is the decklist: AAEBAZ8FCoT8AoetA5PQA/reA+CLBISwBOWwBNC9BJfvBK+TBQ/iEZ3sAtn+As+GA8vNA/neA8zrA4v4A5yfBO6fBJLUBIHiBMDiBKeTBZGkBQA= I have taken out crystology and a flash of light for jailer and bolf and it kinda works.
Also loving your vids man, I think you are now my favorite HS streamer and youtuber.
im putting a giant red target on my back for listing my favourite decks but here goes
alterac valley APM mage- i recall playing this the day before the sorc nerf as a send off and had 1 game where i got hit with a rat on 2 and parrot on 3 losing one sorc and luna, then playing drekthar on 4 to kill my opponent as if nothing happened
outland quest mage- first time legend was with this deck, was also the deck that got me the 1k wins portrait for mage. sadly its unplayable now with the sorc nerf and i despise the new parrot quest mage, its so much less interesting
reno lpg mage- playing brann into dragonqueen and having 70 mana worth of stats on board without actually paying for any of it with a loatheb in the same turn is fun ok
APM mage was an extremely fun deck. I think it had to go, but you shouldnt have to be ashamed that you liked it, it was really really fun.
fun vid, good trip down memory lane :)
Darkglare is still my favorite deck. It reminded me of Deathshadow legacy MTG
After nerfing many old cards, few people use them! This is also the reason why fewer and fewer people play, because they have to keep buying new cards. Many old twicth players have gone to battlegrounds
Demon hunter on release was sooo fun, doesn't beat zoolock tho
prenerf math patron was a treat
Weird, but oil rogue with old blade flurry was actually the most fun i had afair.
Hello!new subscriber and hs lover here
First Time when I got legend in wild was with: WHO AM I? NONE OF YOUR BUSSINES.
Also with the sticky board and Sunkeeper Tarim version
What about Questline druid? wasn't you that made the deck back when nobody played it
Someone else made the deck at the same time and hit rank 1, most people played that version.
We’re getting the MARTIAN VIEW!!!
One of my favorite decks that actually somewhat worked back in the day was a shaman deck called.
Murloc/Quest/spell/highlander/dragon/galagrond/Totem Shaman!
It still exists in hearthpwn XD
Prenerf OG patron warrior hands down
I don't normally like to say someone is ever wrong about an opinion, but you are wrong about paladin, the best paladin deck of all time was Hand Paladin from Rise of Shadows, the way this deck of arena cards was able to synergise was insane, that was my first ever legend push as well.
The only class I’ve never taken to legend is Paladin. Probably never will. Basically never ladder with it.
The game was healthiest when control warrior/fatigue warrior was the mainstay
Probably one of my favorite decks of all time is APM priest, I still hoping for a revert in holy smite to deal damage to face again :(
You’re a monster! Lol
I hate priest, but I have to admit that this was at least skill based
In the opening week of Ashes of Outland, i reach the easiest legend of my life with dh. Bad Luck Albatross help me af
Secret paladin???? Very strong deck
chad warlock enjoyer
Noice deck
interesting decks i would love to play them any codes this time?hehe
Lol, I didnt post them cause theyre mostly old and some have been super nerfed, but I can if theres interest 😄
No worries i believe there is still huge demands for these entertaining decks!
My skin crawled when you said shudder shammy was your fave
Snicker snack!
#RevertLeechingPoison
Damn I miss StrifeCo
Sooooo toxic one player decks 😑
what would you have preferred he say
So you’re the fabled “bitch about everything” HS redditor stuck in gold that I hear so much about.
Deck with a strong and clear wincon is toxic because it consistently beats my Renathal Reno Yogg Espionage Thief Rogue D-:
Reddit moment.
