I really enjoy your videos and learn so much. Time for an update on this one? There are many more Oridono Nishiki style that are available to compare. Also would love more details on size of leaf and leaf shape.

I gave away most of my "Oridono-type" maples. I still have my large 'Oridono nishiki' and my 'Cotton Candy'. Honestly, I don't feel like there are major differences between these types so I'm sticking with what I have left. Both that I have are heavily variegated with 'Cotton Candy' having some darker pinks in the early spring.

Matt and Tim recommended light pruning in the early spring to get more variegation, what do they mean by that? Should I just clip off all the tips/leader buds of the branches to induce this?

Thank you for the variegated maples! Why do you grow your maples in grower bags and not ceramic containers?

Fabric pots help grow a stronger root system and prevent the trees from becoming pot-bound. Most eventually go into regular pots or the ground once they are large enough. I do use them for larger trees as well because they are easier to manage than heavy ornamental pots.

Hello.where Iam in Northern Ireland we have some high winds from time to time.
    Will this affect Japanese maples?

Yes, it can dry out the edges of the leaves. Try to give them as much shelter as possible.

I also have high winds where I live. It's best to give them some type of protection, if possible.
