- Performance filmed in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, in 1991. Recorded on 2 Betacam SP cameras & with stereo sound, it's probably the only broadcast-quality video of Isaac which exists. These clips are un-tweaked as yet. I'll be colour-correcting them in due course. Enjoy!
First saw him aged 15, still love his music at 50. Fantastic 👏
well what can one say, this is amazing. he's not even showing off, he's just so into what he's doing.
It's hard to believe Issac has been gone over 20 years but it does explain the blues swing injected into the music of the angels. Yu are missed Issac but not forgotten.
I first heard him in 1987 at the Brig Inn, Barrhead, near Glasgow....when I was encouraged to show up and do a floor spot/ open mic. I listened to him soundcheck and nearly went home! He was so kind and gracious. I was 22. He got me up to jam on .....well it turned out to be "All Along The Watchtower"- I was so far out of my depth it was just funny!
He gave me a copy of his live album on vinyl- still one of my desert island discs- and we kept in touch.
I lived in England at the time and saw him frequently. He introduced me to John Renbourne and later to Stefan Grossman- who remains a good friend to this day.
I ADORED him and his music. I attended his funeral and said to Viki, his widow, that I'd keep in touch....she was sceptical, but we have!
His son Jake has his D35S and....his dad's talent and looks.
We were fortunate to have such access to such absolute genius.
As good as guitar playing gets...I only saw Isaac live once and he was simply mesmerising.
Opened for him a few times, I actually got on his nerves quite a bit asking questions and stuff. He was a true master and played these little pubs for sometimes as little as fifty quid. His albums are great.

Brings tears to see this again. He used to be a regular favourite at Hitchin Folk club and it was always spellbinding. I can see it in my head now. :')
Watching him play that guitar and I wonder -- what kind of sorcery is this??? He is absolutely brilliant!

It's always a treat to see clips of Isaac whatever the quality but this wonderful footage is something extra special. Great job, and many thanks for making it available here!
