Wanna leave a comment for the algorithm, so here's some interesting trivia: Dennis Kline's artwork for Sabo's custom guitar (which actually wasn't a Kramer but got a Kramer neck later on) was based off an art piece by Patrick Woodroffe simply known as "cemetery". He frequently made album cover art, mainly for prog rock bands, but this piece was first used as a book cover. Later on in 1989 Finnish power metal band Stratovarius release their debut album with Woodroffe's cemetery as its cover art - the same year Skid Row released their debut as well. So the same snake somehow found its way into two different bands at around the same time without them knowing each other!? Anyway, uh... there it is...

According to Floyd Rose. The only difference between the original and the 1000 Series. Is the 1000 is manufactured in Korea. The Original is manufactured in Germany in the Shaller factory.... The Special Series had some Differences... Metals on parts. Zink saddles. ECT.... So if you have issues with the Special Series. You might have a legit beef. But. You can buy 1000 series. Or original series saddles and thy bolt right on. All 3 are exactly interchangeable

About the Korean 1000/1500 Series Floyds:
The majority of guitar players are sadly idiots, who believe any BS they read online.
The German & Korean Floyds have the EXACT SAME DESIGN/ MEASUREMENTS/MATERIALS.
There's only one minor difference: the German Floyd's knife edges are on a 90 degrees angle, the Korean Floyd's knife edges are not at exactly 90 degrees. It doesn't affect playability, tuning or anything else and they did this so that people can tell the German & Korean Floyds apart with a simple glance, because they're so similar.
Now, when we're talking about the other licensed OFR models like 2000, 3000 and Special Series, that's a whole other story.
I would generally not recommend those, because these versions are indeed made out of inferior materials like various zinc/aluminum alloys and wear off pretty quickly.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, keep up the good work Kayla! 🤘

You have to tweak the D-Tuna. There is an allen key hole to adjust the fine tuning between D and E. Once you set that, you should be golden.

@@KaylaKent pull the D-Tuna out, set your D first. From there, push it in and adjust the E with the fine(R) tuning screw. Pull it out, rinse and repeat. It may take a few times, but once you dial it in, it really is a genius piece of equipment! It will wiggle around when pulled out and in D, but once you slap it back in, you should be set.
WE HAVE FAITH IN YOU! JOO CAN DOO EEET!

    • @philfrank5601

Sadly it seems there are differences between certain D Tunas, depending where they are made. There is a lot of play in that allen screw. The low note usually holds ok, but the higher one, not after a few flicks back and forth. Yet, all the USA Wolfgangs and even early Peavey models, zero issues with those D Tunas...rarely need tweaking.

I love the sabo baretta. Plays and sounds great. Some people were switching out the pickup but I think the 85-T has a lot of character and really nails that raunchy tone of early Skid Row. Unfortunately Kramer(gibson) won't sell the pickup by itself, I asked.

I bought a brand new Kramer in 1987is and took it straight to Wayne Kamp’s Customs here in Indy. I had him rip the neck off it and put a Strat neck on it with a custom bar, Floyd Rose that I could beat on all night without retuning at all, another Dimarzio Humbucker with a cutout button and a switch i could invert them with and a Roland Synth Pickup. Great damned guitar. Right up to when the basement flooded. The repair shop at Sam Ash Indy has had it for 3 or 4 years now….. i don’t think they will ever fix it. RIP Wayne Kamp. You are missed. A quick side note on the drop D tuner - I was a bit confused when you said it didn’t really work, and was disappointing, as the one I installed on my EVH Wolfgang Special works perfectly. Then, you go on to mention a critique on the way the trem “flutters”.
There’s your problem right there. To be able to perform trem flutters that suggests you must have the trem set up in a floating position where the trem can either be pulled up or down in pitch.
A drop D tuner will only function properly, and accurately if the trem is set up to be “hardtailed” against the body of the guitar and therefore cannot be pulled up in pitch. You’ll also find this setup gives the guitar a much more solid and resonant feel.
I’m guessing this guitar has intentionally been designed without a routed trem cavity behind the bridge(?) - That’s why. It’s designed only for a “hardtailed” setup where the bar cannot be pulled up upon to accommodate the drop D tuning system.
Also, the guitar probably doesn’t need a shim - you’ve just currently got it set up “floating” which is a setup in which it was not designed for.
    Hope this helps.

Love the review, had to sell all my old Kramers in early 2000s, may pick this one up! Subbed for the review but also because I love the fact that you called all the people complaining about the 1000 series trolls who you had more playing time than! That simply ROCKS! It takes a bit to get a d-tuna setup correctly then when you do some of them are difficult to move. Might take it off and lube it to see if that helps. If the trem floats at all, if the springs to pull it back to the body it will pull it out of tune as well. Once you get it to work though it's a game changer!

Back when MusicYo was still around I bought a few Kramers. Mostly Strikers. I had a candy apple red with H-S-S, a black and white crackle paint with reverse headstock and H-S-H. I still have the white "Splatter" (black and red paint) that has H-S-H. I added a DiMarzio Breed in the bridge, a Tone Zone in the middle and a PAF PRO in the neck. I wanted the Evolution but they were on backorder and didn't want to wait. They all came with the EVH D-Tuna and were priced around $180-$219 depending on pickup config. I also got, and still have, the Baretta with a sustainer. That was $400. And I picked up a white Steinberger Spirit GU Deluxe for $229. I regret selling that because I wanted one again but couldn't find them in white, and all the other colors that were being sold on eBay and Reverb were priced over $600. So I went the Chinese clone route and got a white Steinberger GM-2T copy for around $200 and made a Vito Bratta tribute guitar.

wait is kramer not still peddling $200 guitars off their website? 20 years ago I used to sit online at night and browse them, as they cost an actually-attainable amount of money (for 16 year old me). Nice to see they make good stuff too.

I noticed the Johnson amp behind you. Loved the little J-Station they had.

Cool! I have an old Kramer Focus 1000 that I bought for £200 in the 90s, back when 80s shred machines were seen as cheesy and uncool! Lol.

I hear thaat Gibson is going to make some USA made Kramers. Might be a good sign. They deserve quality.
Also, the D Tuna needs to be set up to be effective. If the neck joint isn't right, there will be issues. Also, the E string micro tuner needs to be backed out completely, amd can't be used to tweak the string. If it's lower, it interferes with the D Tuna clearance. Still, it only holds am accurate E for three or four engagements. Then ya gotta pull out the Allen key again to tweak. Good for what Ed needed live, but that's about it.

55K subscribers, That's painfully low for Kayla. We need to put her on blast. I'm going to tell everyone I know to watch her videos.

"Dennis Kline paint job?" Given the number of units produced of that model, it's more likely a vinyl graphic repro of a paint job he did. I make that clarification for those that think they'd be getting a guitar that is personally airbrushed by Mr. Kline.

As someone who just puts 80s kramer parts together, even made a JK esc guitar, I gotta check this out! Bought a nite V neck and it felt like a different brand compared to the 80s stuff

My literal only problem with this is the actual graphic. Thanks to the green burst around the edge, it's hard to tell what the graphic is supposed to actually be. Snake's original is SO much clearer

Yeah you can tell they went cheaped out on that part probably bc they couldnt figure out how to get the drawing around the edges.
