Memories of my childhood seeing those B&O passenger Geeps! Wish there was a live steam layout near me.
Love that loco, MCRR (owner Dick) has a good looking locomotive.
*Sounds nice!* Like a scaled down Diesel or like the young lady said, NOT like a "lawn mower"... 6:03
Excellent review.. thank you for sharing it with us.
This is so cool I even see this emd gp9 in person couple times at the mill creek central railroad in coshoction ohio which is shown here I think?
cool locomotive.
Thanks for sharing! They do make a beautifully Locomotive.

Super Nice Loco !!!!!👍
Very nice :)
Amazing.
Pretty cool.
your video made it onto their site!
Oh man, do I love grand scale!
Little Onan diesels would make this perfect!
IDK about other railroads but the old Seaboard Coastline officials and hoggers call them Geeps, as in Geep-7, which some official from the Waycross shops told me the best locomotive they had had at that time in the ‘70s.
i enjoyed it
"Ahem"... it has16 HP Briggs and Stratton gas ENGINE.
Good
Where do y’all manage to get these trains at? I can barely find any G-Scale.
Where does one get the freight cars from
love the video. My question do you know a website that i can go to that will give official information on buying a live steam train? I had one in mind but i need info on the process, price and scales.
TheSteamChannel.com has a vendor page with everyone listed and there is a free for sale group on Facebook: The Steam Channel: Buy, Sell, Trade
It is almost impossible to buy an already made live steam locomotive new, I looked for years. Most places want to sell you raw castings for the wheels and cylinders and have you mill and machine them (cause everyone has a CNC milling machine), plus you prolly still have to source your own boiler (cause you can stroll in any day and get boilers off the shelf at Walmart, The Gap or Dairy Queen).
"Godshall's machining and live steam" makes an H-10 locomotive (a large 2-8-0 theres one at MCCR - check it out at 9:19); they make a batch of 10 or so a year, but it is basically hand made and will cost about the same as an average new car and have 1-2 year wait time. You have to call them for specifics.
But have you considered the amount of time/work it is to start/operate a live steam locomotive? Or maintain it? And of course if you let one run out of water... boom!
Railroads got rid of them for a reason (actually a BUNCH of reasons). Maybe instead grab a "cheap" (1/2 to 1/10 the price of the H-10) gas or battery powered Diesel first and make sure you want to get into it that far, you can probably sell it for dang near what you have in it if you dont enjoy it, or if you decide later to get the steamer yet dont want 2 locomotives around. Plus if you have your own track and the grandkids come by unannounced you cant just "switch on" a steamer like you can a Diesel.
Or join a "local" railroad club. People come from 100's of miles away to run at the MCCR, (and worth it; its like Mecca for train buffs).
@@natehill8069 great advice. I always try to think logically, but sometimes you see these trains, and logic goes out the window!
I had this engine but in ho scale
What's a ballpark figure on ordering something of this magnitude?
The price is in the video

Do they produce a gp30 B&O paint scheme?

Ah, if only I had unlimited funds!😞
