I like your narration, it was on spot. Your data was true and correct. You didn't sugar coat it at all. I watched another UA-camr travel to Cuba and give $25 Pesos Cubanos to a young man for acting as his tour guide. Everyone in the comments praised him for giving the guy $25 Pesos, then later down video a lady sells him some peanuts on the street. She asked him for $25 Pesos Cubanos for those peanuts. The meaning of this story is that everyone praised this guy for having given $25 pesos for his work as a tour guide when in fact he was giving the guy "chump" change for his efforts. This is the sad reality of the Cuban people, but some day they will be free and Cuba will be the beacon of the Caribbean once more. Thank you for your video.
Ich war 1996 da und war begeistert. In meiner Fantasie sehe ich all diese alten Gebaeude restauriert vor mir - gepaart mit all diesen vintage Autos. Ein absoluter Traum. Ich vermisse Kuba.
The fact that no Latin country helped them says alot. It's a sad sight. Glad things are changing. America is falling and Latin America is finally rallying around Cuba
@@RUTHLESSambition5 No real help is possible for a Marxist based system, it's a black hole. The USA should allow unlimited trade but Cuban Americans have dictated our inane failed policies since Kennedy, only *they* vote on that issue the rest of us barely acknowledge. Meanwhile those with the most productive potential continue to flee and no ambitious foreigners would ever get traction there until basic human rights, particularly property rights and Meritocracy, are allowed.
Just got back from Cuba , people are happy & welcoming for the most part. The cities near and around the Capital town squares are in somewhat good shape. 3 blocks in not so much. In the countryside the people have more access to food native to the area but less resources. The cities availability is the problem. One thing for sure the society is highly educated & crime surprisingly is almost zero. Being Cuban and having family there I travel there whenever possible.

Good morning, yes a lot of things are free and there’s no disputing that. But unless you absolutely need a procedure done, you have to be placed on a waiting list for all operations.I’m constantly sending everything from aspirin to sleeping pills, vitamins etc. Yes I agree in the USA obesity is a huge problem. Rarely do you see a person who is overweight in Cuba , the people do a huge amount of walking & lack of resources aka food , but not by choice . There is no such thing as fast food.
Dont know how much attention this comment will get, but here you go. What was shown in the video believe it or not is probably one of the best parts in Cuba, I have most of my family there. They live in the province known as Las Tunas. Although, there is plenty of bad in this country, which I will speak on in a bit, the one guaranteed thing in Cuba is affection. My people are very welcoming, and warm to anybody and are passionate about there culture and their beliefs. With that being said, in most parts of Cuba, the native people cant eat everyday. Not only has it become nearly impossible to find food, but almost normal every daya necessities are scarce, soap, toothpaste, paper, you think of it people cant find it. There is barely any water and when there is most people cant afford it. Life in Cuba for a citizen right now is almost uinbearable, and these people are barely survivng. You may be asking, why isnt this more well known, well heres why. When there is any type of protest against the government (which is very much illegal), most will go to social media but not before the government turns off the internet. So some of the protests will be shown, but not the whole picture. The Police here are brutal and abusvie, and im going to wrap this up here, I really wish I could just keep going but I have to go to bed. The beautiful citizens of this Island deserve better, and they are fighting, but in order to win a battle like this, Social Media will need to spread the word and the images of the real Cuba. Not what the tourists see, but rather what the citizens live.
So why the majority of Cubans in Florida support Trump and republicans , when they want to be a totalitarian aholes? They want to deny Americans the right to speak freely and deny human rights ? Specially minority groups? Why idiots like Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio despise their culture and are such corrupt people?

Myself and my wife visited Cuba several time many years ago. I went in cold, when even Australian travel agents didn't know how to get there. I was told that there were no direct flights to cuba, but this is untrue. At 0000hrs every night, there is a direct flight from Havana to Miami (a fact that I found out from a friendly travel agent in Havana). Loved the place, loved the people and their resilience, made some good friends, some of who later escaped by boat from Havana to Miami, and still maintain this friendship to this day. It sure is a different way of life, and the people certainly do it hard. I could write a paper on my experiences, they have been so extensive in this beautiful place!

Having travelled a great deal, I always walked the back streets to find out about the place. This was an exceptional piece of work , felt like I was there. Bravo
I have been in Cuba 2007, the music, people, food and scenery are lovely. It is so sad because politically Cuba has been deprived assistance, care and love that’s why it is where it is today. Still I would visit again it is a lovely country 🤝
And i was wondering where are the cafes, the restaurants, people eating snacks, drinking drinks? Life must be really miserable in Cuba right now, what i"ve read.
@@claudiakoning This video doesn't show the truth, it only shows the worse part of Havana, Cuba's biggest city, an old city. You need to be in Cuba in person to see Cuba is not like this everywhere. This video is like showing Kensington, Philadelphia just to make you think entire USA is a slum like that. As you can see the tiny part of Cuba shown in this video is the worse in entire Cuba, but even this is much better than democratic India or democratic Philippines. I was like you, before I went to travel in Cuba for a few months, I had been misled to think Cuba is a crime infested poor country with nasty people, but when I got there and found out the truth, Cuba is nothing like what I expected.
Cuba can be assisted by many many countries. The problem is the repressive regime and the communist economy doesn't work. Not for sixty-five years. People are needy and unhappy. That's why millions of people have left the island. Hunger and lack of opportunity. The government does not provide and doesn't allow people to prosper because people are not allowed to own property.

Been 3 times and loved the place. Most time was spent in Havana itself. Been through the touristy areas and where the locals live. Can't wait to go back. Any news on the supply of cigars in the shops. Best cigars and rum in the world.
Cuban people have great songs and music, great admiration of life, passion, and resilience. I salute them, they have good spirits. It is so sad their country is in such a condition.
I was born in Cuba I lived there for 60 years. I have been abroad for 13 years and I am sadly surprised by the increase deterioration of the streets of that City I used to work everyday then. My poor country is going backward year after year.
@George Jetson The story is too long, but suffice it to say that since 1959 Cuba became an exporter of immigrants mainly to the US and Spain. When Castro seized power he canceled the Cuban peso convertibility to any foreign currency so it was necessary to have someone to finance your leaving the island. I have a brother who left for the US and got a job HERE so he could pay for my expenses. I flew to Mexico because my other brother has lived there since 1991. I stayed there for a couple of months and then headed for the Tijuana crossing point helpèd by a Mexican couple who is friends with my brother. . In 2011, there was still an executive order that allowed Cubans who arrived at a Us Border and presented themselves to a US border agent to be admitted into the US with a parole that lasted 1 year. But in 1965, President Johnson signed the Cuban Adjustment Act by which any Cuban national who remained in the US for one consecutive year could ask for permanent residence. That Act tried to solve the problem of many Cuvbans who arrived in the US and stayed here in a migratory limbo. Casto didn't accept being deported. So I applied for my permanent residence after one year and eventually applied for my citizenship after 5 years. Now I am an American citizen. Tha's all. President oBMAMA DEROGATED THE eXECUTIE oRER THAT ALLOWED cUBAN TO BE AUTOMATICALLY ADMITTED INTO THE us IF THE SURRENDER AT A PORT OF ENTRY. bUTE cUBAN aDJUSTMENT aCT IS STILL IN FORCE.

You might want to check out the tour company known as "Locally Sourced Cuba". They offer group and private tours from 1 day to as much as 2 weeks and will customize a tour to take in your particular interests (music, dance, nature, etc). We travelled with them in 2015 and you can see a slideshow here in YT under my name Ed Grant. We did not stay in a single hotel, instead using Bed and Breakfasts (Casa Particulars) and dining with the locals, travelling by intercity bus and private taxi.
Just a heads up anything you real take for granted in your home land just leave them at home when visiting Cuba, you will realize very quickly all the conveniences of your world just isn’t any were to be seen if you have spoiled family members take them to Cuba they will learn very quickly just how fortunate they really are, living the simple life in Canada would be like living in the lap of luxury. And still you meet some of the warmest people that would give you coat off there back to keep you from freezing at night like this one street shop keeper or owner did for me he said I could bring it back tomorrow because he seeing me trying to buy something to wear but they just didn’t have what I was looking for. After warming up enough I thanked him for his kindness and ran for a bus back to my hotel room. There’s a lot we can learn from Cuban people of Havana.

In 2010 I went to Cuba for the first time. I DID NOT go to a RESORT! I went to HAVANA. I wanted to experience the people and culture. I was VERY PLEASENTLY SURPRIZED! I travelled all over the expanse of the City, which is Very large. Several things I experienced stand out that I would like to mention. 1st, I FELT SAFE WALKING ABOUT IN CUBA!! at least during the day time as I was doing! I have visited many large AMERICAN CITIES that while walking about you could CUT THE TENSION AMONGST THE PEOPLE IN THOSE CITIES WITH A KNIFE!! . 2nd, Your video showed some Very Run Down Back Streets in Havana that make the area look like an AMERICAN GEHTTO!! " BUT " did you NOTICE HOW WELL DRESSED EVERYONE WAS??. Havana was once known as the JEWEL OF THE CARABEAN, unfortunately, some of " OLD HAVANA" is in DECAY as your video pointed out. " BUT AGAIN " the Cuban Government has been ( Be it ever so Slowly ) been carrying out RESTORATION WORK to the City and there are a significant number of homes that have had MAJOR RESTORATION WORK DONE TO THEM and they are truly beautifull. Although the USA has a Poor Relationship with Cuba, CANADA on the other hand has a Very Good Relationship with Cuba and CUBA is a popular Tourist Destination with Canadians. I HOPE to go back again to CUBA in the Future. I really liked it.
I went to Havana not so long ago on a M S C cruise ship, I joined it From Australia We met lots of Canadians in our group and we had a great time. Bon ami. I doubt if we would have had such, if Americans were on our ship
It may function better but may lose much of its character as far as architectural design goes. It'll be a bunch of big box shaped buildings all over. Modern, but bland, boring and ugly.
Cuba's infrastructure, buildings, and overall quality of like could improve if the US would get its knee off the Cuban people's neck. Lift the sanctions, other restrictions, and allow for self-determination.
@Jolly No Cuba, Venezuela, Haiti, and other countries in the Western Hemisphere should be allowed to flourish on their terms. In Asian and African Countries, there have been leaders assassinated by our government because of the type of governments they chose. Multinational corporations in partnership with the CIA, FBI, and the military suppress wages and the price of commodities in these countries, and we Americans get angry when the people run across our borders. Make our policies friendlier toward them and maybe the people will want to stay home . This is not rocket science. Communism wouldn't be so attractive if our free market system could be a better example. If our political system delivered fairness to the people, more countries would want to emulate us. Even the Founding Fathers stipulated in the US Constitution that it was to form a more perfect union. We can't suppress the will of millions and expect them to be ok with it. That's not how the world works.

I visited Cuba in 2019 as part of the Carnival Cruise Line excursion before it was canceled by the President. Naturally, the part of Cuba we saw was what the tourist paid plan wanted us to see in the limited time allowed. However, our guide was a bit cautious but did tell us a few things that the regular American does not ever hear about and some of his displeasures. We had to use a currency that was purchased at the embarking point at the terminal. The currency was called the "Cux" and the government appropriated some 10% of it when we exchanged dollars and were only allowed to spend the Cux. Naturally, some of us did out homework and we had lots of small dollars and used them to purchase some things. Overall, I found the trip to Cuba very enjoyable and the people friendly whom we met but sad as to how the place was so deteriorated over the years.
But they didn't tell you that that 10% is confiscated from Cuba for every dollar it uses in international purchases and those are some of the sanctions of the more than 243 approved by former President Trump today, still in force

Yes, I have been to the Island probably over 20 different times and can Verify some things you brought up. Not sure if you did but always a good idea to go out of Capitol City to get some different perspectives. I Married a Cuban Woman from a little town in Eastern side of Country, Bayamo. A great little town but yes the shortages of basic food stuffs saw all too often. Many blame the Blockade or Embargo as some call it and some Blame Government for the Graft and Corruption of the Political Heads. I am not privy to the inner workings of any of these entities so can't give an accurate answer for it. My opinion is it is a combination of all these issues. In any case the USA, The Country where I was born, wants Cuba to be subservient such as before 1959, and United Fruit, Bank of America, etc..to control just about everything. But just want to see the People and many People I know there Improve Standard of Living.
Some of the things but when giving "information" on subtitles he needs to fact check all details . Many of the details shared in the subtitles are not true. Nevertheless this is a 20 minute video, therefore don't expect to go through all in a comment. But it starts with the "information" that " before the 1958 revolution,Cuba was one of the most prosperous places in the world" . Who told him that? If it this was the case , why did Cuban's assist Castro in overthrowing the Batista Regime? He was a dictator with support of the USA. Cuba was the gambling house and brothel of the USA with the random citizens as poor as today. Plus there was crime, no free healthcare and no free education like today. And it continues with the "information" about "EVERYTHING in Cuba belongs to the government". Who told him that? There is private property in Cuba .The 2019 Cuban Constitution (the New Constitution) recognizes the existence of private property for the first time since 1976. People should watch the video but just dismiss the subtitles.
Cuba chose to be an ally of the US’s bitter rival. Expecting the US to still be Cuba’s friend is naïve at best. Look at what Russia is doing to Ukraine just because Ukraine wanted to be closer to the EU and US. Cuba made its bed they shouldn’t complain about sleeping in it.
@@matthewhuszarik4173 To compare Cuba and Ukraine shows either your lack of knowledge for events happened chronologically or it just suits your narrative. Here some details to learn from: Castro and his group was never supported by the Soviet Union prior to the Revolution. After the revolution Castro traveled to the USA to meet D.Eisenhower but was REFUSED to see him. Of course the reason to it was that big corporations like Chevron who were kicked out of Cuba by Castro were seeking revenge on Castro and as usual used their leverage on the US president not to meet him. When Castro returned to the island , it was the Soviet Union (Khrushev) who sent his deputy Anastas Mikoyan ,to Castro. Shortly after the US started with their first sanctions and the Soviet Union bought their first batch of sugar from Cuba. Summarizing, the USA missed the chance to cooperate with Castro and started to threaten him which led from Castro's first economical liasion towards military services of the Soviet Union. In Ukraine, the USA spent money on NGO's and other politicians to start a Coup de Etat on the Maidan in 2014 and chased the elected president of the Ukraine out of the country. And in the year 2023 there comes a UA-camr and tries to BS us with fairy tales.
@@selcukcilek555 Castro was a Communist adamantly opposed to capitalism. The US is capitalist Castro was naïve if he thought he would be welcomed in the US. Castro didn’t bring Democracy to Cuba he brought authoritarian socialism. Property rights are very important to the US. There is a right way for a government to condemn property and take it for the common good and there are many wrong ways. Castro’s way wasn’t acceptable to the US. Cuba has no right to the friendship or trade with the US. Each country has the right to trade and be friendly with the nations they choose. Cuba chose Russia Ukraine has chosen the EU and US. Who is fairing better by each potential friend, trade partner, and benefactor?
@@matthewhuszarik4173 I already told you the time line and you still try to push your narrative. Before Castro there was Batista who was a dictator with the support of the USA and Cuba had capitalism. Forget about "authoritarian" socialism. Ask yourselves how Castro defeated a regular army with a handful man. Learn about facts and the honor and pride of a nation which had enough and didn't want to get ruled by Washington DC.
Amazing tour. Even though was reasonably familiar with the socio-economic and political situation there, taking walking tours amongst the regular streets and people going about their lives and work was very informative. One issue i noticed - after watching all the Cuba episodes, there are many scenes that continue to repeat through the whole series. Is this normal for this channel? Some viewers may go away when they realise they have seen scenes before.
Hello. Thanks! More than glad you liked it! Just a few scenes may repeat and this is because I had a lot of information to add about Cuba so I needed extra footage. Anyway 95% of the content it’s unique in each video 🙂
@@WannaWalk Yes I noticed your comment about making the narration captions last longer too. There is a lot of information to take in visually and I played it back a couple of times, as your captions are extremely informative too, covering a lot of topics that tourist may need to know plus the history and social makeup, climate etc.
Thanks, I was going to say the same thing; repetitive scenes. I SCHOOLED in SANTIAGO DE LAS VEGAS near HAVANA and me and my colleagues visited the City of HAVANA twice a week. There is modern HAVANA and old HAVANA but this video concentrated too much attention on OLD HAVANA as if that's all there is about HAVANA. Please do your viewers a favor by showing them the real HAVANA CITY, very safe and clean with beautiful beaches and stunning, elegant girls.

If they are highly educated, why haven't they thrown out the Communists and rebuilt the cities and infrastructure?
Are they highly educated sheep?
But why don't you live there? Just curious.

This video doesn't show the truth, it only shows the worse part of Havana, Cuba's biggest city, an old city.

I was born in Cuba I lived there for 60 years. I have been abroad for 13 years and I am sadly surprised by the increase deterioration of the streets of that City I used to work everyday then. My poor country is going backward year after year.
You may as well be describing the United States.
Interesting.
You lived in Cuba for 60 years and now are living abroad .
How were you allowed to leave ?

Very interesting comment. Thank you 😊

Governo vagabundo amigo, ditadura sanguinária q explora seu povo e deixa eles pobres eternamente.
Imagine how amazing this place would be if all the structures and infrastructure in the video could be brought up to code!
The country first has to get liberated from communism!
@@josephwheeler8753 Understood. As you know, there's an ideological rift between the two countries still seeking a solution.

May I suggest audio narration so we can see and hear without pausing to read the comments. I have been to Cuba many times, always at resorts but aware of life outside the confines of what some think normal. Another revolution is imperative if the people want to get out of this great hole, most of them don't realize how badly they're being screwed by this regime that's been in power far too long. Only freedom is truly worth dying for because it provides future generations with a decent way of life which is inherent to all humanity. Live free or die fighting for it.
But this is the way the American left want us all to live so they can live an elite life over the masses.

The first ride we got after arriving was the coach that dropped us at our hotel and took us back into Varadero!
So awesome ty for sharing!
The way of the COMMUNIST REGIME.
