You made my day! I did use 2 part epoxy instead of hot glue and reused part of the original rubber strain releaf instead of heat shrink, works like a charm!
Bit fiddly for a first time solderer but thanks for the advice, which has just resurrected my expensive earbuds for just £20 of equipment that I can use again.
@@jontriestofixthings3718 Hey Im glad I found this vid. I'm about also repair the bose qc 20. Problem is this: I have 2 blue, 2 red, one green and two copper wires. Since the coper ones have connection to the outer coper protection layer im guessing it is ground. and the green is mic? It gets processed in the attached box so i think the ground of headphones and mic is the same at the plug. So i think I'll just put red, green and blue at the top and the coperground at the ledge beneeth. Do you know what colour is which side? Just want to doublecheck since i dont have much cable left from where it broke Edit: The two copper wires are twisted around white stuff...
thanks a lot. You let me reconsider what red/green wire means. Actually I have white, red, green, copper and red/green. Red/green shields the white one. I connected red/green with copper together and all works fine.
I'm in the exactly same boat. Had the same pair of earphones for a few years now. And the cable is coming away from the jack itself however still currently plays.
After Bose stopped making the wired MIE2 earbuds and mine just broke, I have to fix them even though I have never soldered before. I found a pair off Ebay which I bought. Now, I will be buying everything I need to fix these two and keep them working for years to come. I can't stand wireless earbuds. I don't want something that needs to be charged since everything with rechargeable batteries slowly lose life until the stupid things only last an hour between charges.
I really like the design of the Soundsport earbuds. Do you think I could take those speakers and solder them to my JBL Reflect mini 2 Bluetooth wire? It could be the best hack ever. I’m curious before I go taking everything apart.
Could you please list proper names of the parts... wire, cap, shrink wrap and anything else and where you get yours? I need to rebuild my wired earbuds but I dont know the names of the parts or type of wire in order to look it up. I greatly appreciate your help!
Plz explain iPhone ear buds mic wiring green-red,gold wire i connect them right but in none of the handsfree mic and volume up- down working only center pause button works plz reply ASAP
Do I need to purchase solder material things. This may sound silly but I have the original android soundsport cables and am debating on finding someone that could fix this for me in the uk!
Hi! Can you possibly message me? I need some help/ advice to repair the sound in these exact earbuds- but the ‘jack’ end does not seem to be damaged. I have limited sound! Thanks!!
To the person who made this video: do you provide this type of repair as a service? If so what does it cost and how do I contact you about it? Thank you

Thank you so much. I love my earbuds and Bose doesn't make that style anymore. There's no way I could have fixed them without your video.
great video, convinced if I try to do it my fix will fall apart in a week but I love these earbuds so much I gotta try

That's great! I love it when people can save money and fix things themselves.
thanks, super helpful figuring out which wires are which!
Hi, I would like to know if you personally repair bose wired earbuds? How can I contact you. Great video on how to repair. Thanks.
Thanks! What a tedious job that was with my bad eyes. Ringing out the wires for me was the most helpful.
I'm glad it helped! I hope you see many more years of life from your earbuds :)
I'm gonna try this on my bose qc 20 I ripped like 3 years ago. feeling motivated now
How did that go for you?
Im interested in how it worked out for you!

I love you man, these were my favorite headphones, and thanks to you I don't have to part ways with them!
that's so awesome to hear! That's the exact reason I make this videos. Best wishes!
thanks a lot.

Thank you. Exactly what I needed to see, and well done.
Thank you for watching! I'm glad it was a helpful video.

Same here, I really enjoy wired accessories. They keep things straightforward and are much easier to maintain and troubleshoot.
Thank you. Great explaining. To tricky for my skill level but clear and concise. Thanks.
Thank you for your feedback!

Where do I find the TRRS adapters in that form? Everything comes up as an already made product. thank you
It was good to watch . Is boss earbud same as shure headset?

Really helpful 💙
Glad to hear!
I have tried this process step by step. I get sound but no mic/volume control. Could it be the jack I am using?

Is this the android or iphone version?
Why do you untwist the green from the white and then twist the green with the copper?
Green is the ground for the mic so he twisted it together with the ground wires for left and right speakers.
Can you show us how to fix the boss headphones not the wire..the speaker
awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
i am from India & my earphone wire is damaged, any leads where i can buy this replacement wire?
The video is not really of good quality, but thanks a lot for the help, it really helps.
it was really well explained and in detail on how you can try for yourself so thats what i cared about
where can I purchase the4 ring jack
I don't seem to have a white cable ? I have red, blue Green and copper ( and the fibre in it)....
( mine are Bose supersport - so I don;t know if that makes it different)
I have the same issue. I can get he speakers working and the mic but not the volume or pause/play button
Any help would be grateful!
The green is wrapped around the white .
Did you confirm that the volume buttons work as well?
they sure do!
Can I do this for my sennheiser momentum in ear wired earphones?
It will be a similar process but the wires may be slightly different (different number of cables/different colors)
Sir how to repair earplugs of this earphone?
That's a plug at the end, not a jack.
Why are earbud manufacturers not held accountable in court for the scamming of their customers by engaging in this obvious planned obsolescence?
Sir help me plsee reply me sir
My port is broken, the thing you insert into your phone I mean... Yeah that part and... Idk how to fix it😅
