I've been to a lot of places in this world, but never have I seen anything like this!!!! Thank you for taking me along!! It's mind boggling!!! Mind blowing!!!! One question though, why are those big chunks of iceberg, at a distance, the color blue, but when they hauled in that piece, it's clear?? This inquiring mind wants to know!!
Answer has to do with wavelengths of sunlight. Sunlight is made of red, orange, yellow, green, Indigo and violet colors (think of a rainbow or a prism). Those giant blocks of iceberg absorb all colors of light but reflect the color blue, making the iceberg appear to be blue. Imagine this- you look out onto the ocean and the water looks blue. If you scooped up a glass of that water from the ocean, the water in the glass appears to be clear. It's all due to the way that light passes thru the water (or ice in the case of an iceberg), with the blue color being the wavelength of light that you eyes see as 'blue'
Thank you!!! Wasn’t it amazing?!!! I was pretty speechless myself. The amount of beauty that experienced on this trip was just beyond words. What an amazing time!!!! 💕

Yes we had so much fun! And I am ready for fall as well - it’s my favorite season. Bring on the pumpkin spice everything. Just wait for the Halloween videos, I’ve already started some pre planning!
Stunning video!!! You did a wonderful job and looked so happy to be there. That is my kind of weather (it's so hot where I live). It is the most beautiful scenery and a perfect shot of the eagle! It reminds me of what we are doing to our planet though...I hope we can save it because it is so beautiful. Thank you and I did give it a thumbs up as requested, but I always do! Looking forward to the finale.
I truly was so happy to be there!!! And I thought the exact same thing while I was there, I so hope that Alaska can remain untouched. It is just so ridiculously beautiful and it needs to be left alone. And I agree about the weather - I’d rather deal with the cold than the heat any day. So glad you enjoyed it and thank youuuu for the thumbs up! 😆
Indescribably gorgeous! I love the music you chose and how you timed it perfectly with the movements of the water. Really enjoyed seeing the family pictures, too! Thank you so much for all the work you put in to take us along on your breathtaking vacation 🤍🌏🙏
Ahhhhh I was hoping someone would mention the music!! 😆 Thank you so much - I searched for hours because it had to be right! Once I found it I was like that’s it!!!! Lol!! So happy with how that turned out and glad that you enjoyed the video! Thank you for watching and commenting!
So how do we get her more exposure, more views? I just watched it yet again and it's such good footage that I think it needs to be seen. Hey Jessica, We really enjoyed your series on Holland America Alaksa. Your content is on point! We have been reviewing UA-cam channels and yours is by far the best. I actually wish you had more about Alaksa. We are so glad we found your channel. I would like to know more about the excursion you went on in video 2. You are a joy to watch, can't wait to see more your of your travel videos. Thank you.
Oh my goodness - what a wonderful compliment, thank you soooo much!! 🥰 Alaska is a trip that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. I loved every bit of it, and plan to return again to explore a little more of what it has to offer. I loved being able to cruise through it - but I also want to spend more time on land - talk to the people, go on more tours, dine where the locals go. Things like that. Trust me that when I do go back, I’ll be bringing my camera along. The excursion in this video just blew my mind. Everything that I wanted to see while in Alaska, happened in this excursions. From the landscapes, to the wildlife, seeing the glacier, being able to hold that chunk of ice - literally a trip of a lifetime. If you have any questions that I can help you with, please don’t hesitate to contact me. It is a trip that I love talking about! Thank you again for being here and I hope that you continue to enjoy my content! 😆
@Carmadd74 hi there!!!! Allen Marine Tours is the company that Holland America went through. We booked via Holland, but Allen Marine was the tour group. 😆
@@jessicapayne Great, we booked our tour with Holland as well. We leave in 30 days. I appreciate the information you provided. Have a wonderful day. Thanks again.
Jessica thanks for sharing!!! I was on HAL Eurodam to Alaska August 6-13th and it was absolutely amazing. I've been telling everyone they should really do this trip. My ship went through the Glacier Bay National Park, we were allowed to go on the bow and take pictures and make videos, it was the high light of the trip. Wish you were able to visit Tracy's Crab House, the crabs were so fresh, I decided to never again buy crabs at the grocery store😂.
Hi Zeola!!! First off thank you so much for watching and commenting! 😆 That is so exciting that you were just there too - wasn’t it amazing? So you can probably attest that even though there are some great shots in my video, it just doesn’t compare seeing it real life, right?!! It was just the most breathtaking trip - and especially here in Juneau, just wow. I’m jealous that you got to try the crab at Tracy’s. I so wish we would have had the time. If I ever go back, it will be the first place we go. 😆 Thanks again for watching!!!
Awwww thank you for that! I had so much fun putting the videos together - but most importantly vacationing in Alaska. I hope to get back there at least one other time!!
this looks so cool! we booked the glacier treck because it has been a huge bucket list item for my husband but this was definitely my second pick. i cant wait to go!
I can’t wait for you to go either! This tour was by far my favorite. Every moment of it was so beautiful and some how it kept getting more and more stunning. To see things in real life that you’ve only seen on TV or in books - there’s just nothing like it!
OMG, what a fantastic video! It took my breath away. So many beautiful moments and definitely put in a lot of work to capture it all for us. Thank you! Thank you! And I absolutely loved the music when you were showing the glaciers. Wonderful choice. I'm sad next week is the last week, but I know you're off to a new adventure soon! xx
Thank you!!! Don’t ask Mark if I teared up with the glacier music once it lined up with everything. 🤓 I spent so many hours finding the right music that once i finally found it I 🥹. Lol!!! I’m such a dork but so glad you enjoyed everything!! I don’t know how I’m going to post regular videos after these Alaska ones.
I am booking this exact cruise today departing end of August. I love this excursion you did, the glacier drink looked yummy lol. Looks like you are all having an awesome Alaska cruise vacation.

Thanks Deb!!!!! 😆 I filmed everything I saw hoping I would have footage for this video! So much of what I took I was not able to show because of the camera bouncing around, or water drops on my lens blurring the view - but I’m so happy with what I did end up with! So happy you enjoyed reliving it!! 😆
Thank you!!!!! It truly was an amazing experience! We did book it through the cruise BUT you can also book it outside of being on the cruise. Here’s the link! allenmarinetours.com/juneau/glacier-fjord/
I booked it through a travel agent which happens to be related to Mark. I’m happy to provide her information if you’re interested - just let me know! 😆
Wow, what a great amazing breathtaking video, thank you for your hard working effort for all of us. Jessica, I would like to ask your expertise for the filming, since I am beginner for the film taking, Can I use I-pad mini to make a video shot for this type trip? Does any selfie stick can hold my camera and to make a selfie video? Would you please for your experience guide me and can not wait to go to Alaska. Did you book your own cruise or went through the travel agent? I just subscribed and big thumb up, thank you, thank you!!
Hi Lena!! Thank you so much for watching - Im so glad you enjoyed it! And THANK YOU for subscribing!!! So we booked with an agent and she really did help put all the logistics together for us. In terms of film taking - I do want to mention that no matter how great of a camera or phone you have, nothing will compare to seeing it live with your own eyes. So don’t get frustrated when what you see in the camera doesn’t look like what you see in person. Most of my content was shot with my Canon G7x Mark III camera, and my go-pro. However, I did get some beautiful shots (like the waterfall in this video) with my iPhone (12 max pro). The iPhone and iPad cameras are so amazing that you can absolutely take great content with both of them. A selfie stick is a must on this trip because there is so much scenery that you will want to capture yourself in - and your arm length in many cases just won’t do. If there is any way to secure some sort of stabilizer for your phone, I would suggest that as you won’t necessarily notice it while on the cruise or excursions, but the waves and wind can make for bumpy footage. I’m happy to help with any other questions you may have. 😆
@@jessicapayne thank you so so much for your time to reply my question. If I may ask your agent's name and phone #, I just want to book like your cruise line w/ balcony, that will be a great help. And do you have any suggestion for the any selfie stick can hold I-pad mini that I can use for the trip, I truly appreciate your great assistance. Have a wonderful Sunday.
I’m happy to help!! 😁 Her name is Jennifer Ward of LBAC Travel. 631.648.8032 Ext. 29 - let me do some looking around for the selfie stick and I will get back to you!!
@@lenas7419 Let me offer a scomment. A selfie stick can be simply a stick with a holder that attaches to your camera. These are not expensive, and basically they are just an extension for your arm. They are perfectly fine for most uses but basically 'you get what you pay for'. If you really want to step it up, consider what is called a gimbal, or a gimbal stick. For example, DJI (the company that specializes in drones) makes a gimbal that holds your phone, or your camera, and it has built-in stabilizers, using gyroscopes. With a gimbal, you can move the stick or bounce around while you are walking or in a vehicle, and the gimbal stabilizes the image. It's the best way to go, but a decent gimbal will cost maybe $125-$200 (there is one type for most cell phones, and other type for digital cameras such as the Canon G7x that Jessica has).
WOW!! What an amazing trip. So many wonderful things to experience…especially the glaciers. I do have one question, are those pieces of a glacier or is what we’re seeing, the top of the rest of it that’s under water like in the Titanic movie?
Yes they are pieces of the glacier in the water which are icebergs. These are much much smaller than the ones from the Titanic obviously, BUT yes - the majority of it is under the water. We actually saw that when we got up close to them - a big mass of it was under water!! You would just love it - you guys have to go!!!!
Beautiful videos and photos. I can’t wait to do this trip. Just curious what type of camera did you use. We will be purchasing one. Don’t want to spend a fortune but definitely want one that does it justice.
Thank you!!!!! It was the best trip and I can't stop talking about it. I have the Canon Powershot G7X Mark III. Here is the link: rstyle.me/+NukSYoNZh9SjSPTQWOhXlg It worked beautifully and it was definitely worth the investment. Just know that yes you will capture some beautiful shots, but there's no camera out there that will be able to replicate what you see with your own eyes. It was frustrating at first - but that's why you have to go see it for yourself!! :)
@@jessicapayne There is a link to the GoPro 8 in the description above. That camera was used for the ATV's in Ketchikan, Alaska, in her Part 1 video (ua-cam.com/video/dbutfKgB0H0/v-deo.html) If you need really good stabilization, that GoPro a good option. The Canon is overall superior but more expensive too. If your budget allows it, the Canon is kinda awesome.
Thank you so much - this was my favorite video!! The excursion was around $250 I believe. We booked it through the Allen Marine Tours and they were fantastic!
Hi Jessica! Love these videos! I'm going on a Holland Alaska Cruise this July. Your video inspired me to finally start looking for rain gear! I have 1 million questions, but mainly, can you tell me what the names of these excursions are? I'm looking at excursions now and they all look so similar! And, remind me where the fry bread was? I need that in my life. Thank you!!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the videos!!!! If you go into my description of this video, I have linked a free pdf detailing everything about my trip - including the specific names/companies of my excursions!!! I hope you have the best time - Alaska is a magical place and I believe everyone should see it at least once!!! Have so much fun!
@Well-Lived with Jessica Payne thanks! I tried the link but it's not working? The tinyurl? I can't post a screenshot in the comments, but I've tried it twice.
I’m so sorry, I’m not sure what happened, but I’ve fixed the link. You should be able to access it now, please let me know if you have any further problems! 😁
I know!! It was so wild people didn’t really dress up. I could have saved some room in my luggage. I think because it’s more a casual cruise, people just stayed in casual clothes. There were a few times we dressed nicely, and others were too - but you won’t feel out of place wearing jeans and a nice top! No our room didn’t come with binoculars - but I found a great pair on Amazon for $15. I think I have it linked!
It was called “Tracy Arm Fjord and Glacier Explorer”. The group that took us out was call Allen Marine Tours. Definitely worth every cent. I hope you have the best time on your cruise AND this tour!! 😆
May I ask what camera/ phone you were using for the videos? We are planning to go to Alaska next year and I want to document with video and photos. I’m hoping to use my iPhone but not sure about storage
Most of this video is shot with my Canon Powershot G7x Mark III camera which I LOVE!!! Here’s the link: amzn.to/3pmH9RV But I also used my phone (iPhone 12 pro max) for a lot of it. Like the big waterfall in the fjord - that was using my iPhone. Both are amazing cameras, but in terms of storage you’re going to want to either purchase more storage on your phone OR get a camera - because you are going to want to take all of the pictures and videos without the fear of running out of space. 😁 Hope this helps!!

I am glad you are back !!!….glad you had fun!!!!….I am ready for fall and can’t wait to see more fall gathering!!!!… with decorations and coffee!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes we had so much fun! And I am ready for fall as well - it’s my favorite season. Bring on the pumpkin spice everything. Just wait for the Halloween videos, I’ve already started some pre planning!
WOW WOW WOW!! TRULY AMAZING & BREATHTAKING!!!
Thank you love - and it was even better in person if you can imagine that!! 🤯😆
Wow, what a great amazing breathtaking video, thank you for your hard working effort for all of us. Jessica, I
Amazing video!!! Enjoyed every moment!
Thank you Melinda!!! I’m so happy that you enjoyed it - it was quite the experience for sure! 😆
You did and incredible job filming. Absolutely stunning!! And that water!!! Can't wait for the last one.
Thank youuuu! Wasn’t that water stunning - I just want not expecting that color!
@@jessicapayne Love it! Yes, you did an amazing job, and I certainly appreciate your effort 💜
What a amazing trip , every thing is breathtaking.
It truly was breathtaking - every second of it! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!!! 😆
Your videos are stunningly beautiful.
Awww thank you!! I really love creating them so it makes me to hear that you are enjoying them. Yay and welcome to the channel!! 😆
So how do we get her more exposure, more views? I just watched it yet again and it's such good footage that I think it needs to be seen. Anything you can do to help promote her videos would be most appreciated! Parts of this one look like something you'd see on television, like a BBC or Nat Geo type of quality.
you sold me on the Tracy Arm Fjord tour. That was beautiful.
Ahhhhhhh - it was the best. I will never, ever forget it. Ever. If you don't book any other excursion - this is the one to book hands down! I'm so glad you enjoyed it - thank you for watching!
Fantastic vlog! Looking forward to Part 3! 🙏🏽❤️👍🏾
Thank you!!!! Part 3 is going to be so good - how I will fit everything in I don’t know 😅 but it’s gonna be a great finale to the trip!
Loved every minute of it. Simply just beautiful. Thank you!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it - it was a trip of a lifetime for sure!! 😆
Thanks for braving the weather. The footage was fantastic!
It really was so much fun - even with the crazy weather! Thank you so much for watching / it’s my favorite video to date! 😆
This was awesome!!! You are right…A trip of a lifetime!!
Thank you!!!!! 😆 It truly was!!!
LOVE this!!!
Thank youuu!!!! So happy you loved it!!! 😆
Love your content! Going to watch over and over. We are cruising this same ship at the end of May. It’s our first cruise. We are doing a land portion at the end.
Yay!!! Thank you so much and welcome to the channel! You are going to have blast - such an amazing trip. Be prepared to gasp more than you ever have in your life. If you remember, please come back and let me know what you thought once you return from the trip. 😆
Good morning 🌅 my delicious Sunday pleasure. The scenery was magnificent, particularly the glacier. It was smooth sailing all the way. If I could give you a thousand thumbs up I would. What a beautiful adventure! The kissy-face was a nice touch! 💕 Lovely!
Awwwww thank you that - you’re the sweetest! So glad you enjoyed the video - wasn’t the fjord beautiful? I’ll never forget it - ever!! And that picture of us is my favorite!! 🥰
Stunning!!!! I love this video!
Hi again, what tour company did you use to book the glacier excursion? Thank you.
Wow! Thanks for all your hard work! Love your energy! Love Alaska!
Awwww thank you for that! I had so much fun putting the videos together - but most importantly vacationing in Alaska. I hope to get back there at least one other time!!
Wow! So gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!!!! I’m so happy that you enjoyed it - it was quite the trip! 😆
That was fantastic
You threaten so sweetly...lol
As soon as the video was over I hit that like!!!!
Hahahahaha!!! Thank you so much 😆 I do appreciate your like and am so happy you enjoyed the video!
This was very nice, you deserve more than a thumbs for sharing this God Blessed
Thank you Gwen!!!! I appreciate that so much - I truly do. I’m just glad that you enjoyed it! 😆
this looks so cool! we booked the glacier treck because it has been a huge bucket list item for my husband but this was definitely my second pick. i cant wait to go!
Again, very enjoyable
Thank you!!!! I really appreciate you watching and commenting! 😘
I am booking this exact cruise today departing end of August. I love this excursion you did, the glacier drink looked yummy lol. Looks like you are all having an awesome Alaska cruise vacation.
Yay!!!! You are going to have a blast. This excursion was the absolute highlight of the trip - I hope that you get to go on it. Sooo much to see - I’ll never ever forget it!
Love these, very nice. Thank you so much Jessica.
This was my favorite video and tour by far. It was just so amazing to see this all in person. I’ve never gasped so much in life. I can’t wait for you to go and experience it as well! 😆
Fabulous job! I enjoyed this very much ❤
Thank you!!!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it - it was the best trip and this specific day was my absolute favorite!!
Now I want you to know I was on the trip to because you took me along with you. I am so glad that you really enjoyed it and had a good time and it made me have a good time too. Thank you for sharing. We are considering going on an Alaska Cruise.
Oh I hope you go! I’m on a mission of encouraging everyone to go - it truly is one of the most beautiful places you’ll ever see.
Epic!
It truly was. 😆 I wish you guys were with us on this one!!! Steven would have gotten to see all the wildlife he was looking for!
Amazing video!!! You captured so many awesome things that I missed in the moment!
forward. It's great when you can breathe without a breathe. You may steal that quote. *wink*
And I just may do that! 🙃 I’ll be sure to give you credit, lol!!!
Everything about this video was amazinggg! Omg! Was this excursion booked via the cruise line? I’d love to do this!
Thank you!!!!! It truly was an amazing experience! We did book it through the cruise BUT you can also book it outside of being on the cruise. Here’s the link! allenmarinetours.com/juneau/glacier-fjord/
Love it and Thank you. Where did you book this excursion and NCL is full?
I booked it through a travel agent which happens to be related to Mark. I’m happy to provide her information if you’re interested - just let me know! 😆
It would be awesome to get @CanonUSA to view this. Shot on a Canon G7 Mark III and despite the rain and cold hands the picture quality is fabulous.
@@jessicapayne Thak you very much Jessica.
Incredible video. Enjoyed it so much. How much did you pay for this excursion?
That worked, thanks! I can't believe nobody was dressed up for dinner! Our TA said we shouldn't wear jeans! Did your room come with binoculars?
Which tour was this? Is it through True Alaskan Tours? It looks incredible. I’m going next month and cannot wait.
Looks like I’m just a week too early to do the tour…I’m heartbroken.
Oh no, really???? It was honestly the best tour of the entire trip - something I will never ever forget. I wonder why it’s too early?!
What was this excursion called? Going on Holland next spring
It was called “Tracy Arm Fjord and Glacier Explorer”. The group that took us out was call Allen Marine Tours. Definitely worth every cent. I hope you have the best time on your cruise AND this tour!! 😆
What time of year did you visit Alaska?
I was there mid-July last year! 😁
@@jessicapayne absolutely helps!! Thanks so much for responding!! I watch a lot of vlogs and your style is one of the best ❤️
