Have a 2006 ktm 450, best bike I’ve ever owned. 200 hours, haven’t even had to adjust the valves. Everything original other than jetting and exhaust. Just had a fork seal start leaking the other day after a long riding day. not bad for an 18 year old bike.
My new 2023 ktm 300 is the best riding and handling bike I have ever ridden. The ktm bike are amazing love them so much. But you could not kill a Honda seized the engine in my Honda by putting a hole in the crank case cover, we put and new cover on and changed the oil and that bike just keeps running perfectly
Hondas is always last to change and have never been quite as good as Yamaha but I was raised on Honda and won't ride anything else. I tried KTM but didn't like it
Not sure what your talking about.. although Yamaha is leading the way way now especially with their 250, the early 2000s were absolutely dominated by Honda.. look at the percentage of pro and amateur racers that rode Honda in those years.. probably 5-1 vs everything else

Answer is for reliability reasons!
ktm is best for innovation and tech
honda is best for pure reliability and bulletproof engines
The biggest mistake you can make is listening to people comments on factory riders issues on a bike and buying according to simply that.

I think KTM push only business...and for the riders the sport Is became more difficult to practice because you can't really be up-date.
