- An inexpensive whip, so worth a try!
I bought this straight from roWaves website. Here is the current link: rowaves.com/an...
If you have or get one, let me know what you think.

That was me on 40m but lost you ... Great video
Shame we didn't complete Carl. 40m wasn't the best that day, QSB and all. Still, we would have had a QSO with a half wave. Shows what can be done with a wee whip though.

Very practical demonstration Fraser! While not perfect (especially on the lower bands), it's better to have an antenna than none. I think the way you show it is probably the most efficient way to use it (standing and holding it up) and your body also partly plays the "counterpoise" 😉

Hi Stephan, Of course you are correct in what you say about body capacitance. When I tested the antenna at home, I achieved better SWR results. Such is life!

Pretty crazy!
Surprised me Dave! Not bad for €40
Good old KX2, cracking radio.
Ha! Need to keep yours and use it more. I would like to see if this would tune on 10m too.
It will probably tune on top band with the KX2 tuner. 😂
@adamap2796 you're probably not wrong there 😂
Very impressive!
Did the job nicely!
Very good video and that's an interesting antenna. Well done on easily qualifying the Summit with it. Love the cap 😀

Thanks mate! I was totally surprised to do this on 17m. Good fun 🙂
That was amazing, basically a handheld fraser, well done.
Cheers Brian. Next time I'll try for some dx 🤣
Mental. Now need a KX2 and stuff the golf wedges!! LOL
HaHa!! Give up golf. It ruins a nice walk 😅🤣🤣
👍Good stuff.
Great fun Steve!
Well Done Fraser, you have answered a question I have been meaning to ask myself with my ax1. I might just brave a summit with it now😂 best 73 Steve MW0SAW
I think with SOTA, folk will find you no matter what!
@@theradiorover you right! I’ll try next time, but keep the efhw in the bag just incase 😆
Great video Frazer. Looks like a nice compact antenna to maybe take on holiday and get on the air. And superb location. Thanks for sharing. 73...David M0DAD
Yes, that's what I thought. I'd like to try it from a hotel balcony. I may make a clamp for it.

Thank you Fraser for the mention and the review! Very nice job you did ther with the demo. From more tnah 25 units we have manufactured so far i can say that the SWR on 20 & 17m is on 1.3:1 with no trouble, even better. The counterpoise is important, all the measurement on SWR is not done with the counterpoise. Also, the position when you tune it for best SWR is important also since the body position does an impact on overall performance. Anyway, good results can be obtained with it with patience and some basic skills :) vy 73 de Andrei, YO6TJJ
Hi Andrei, Thanks for making a great antenna and for your comments.
I managed to achieve lower SWR when testing the antenna at home, around 1.4:1. I do think the antenna moves too much on the double BNC adaptor, which causes the SWR to fluctuate.
It is a great antenna and I was really pleased that it worked really well.
The video was just a quick test and I will be sure to use it again.
One for 15, 12 and 10m would be nice! 🙂👍

Fantastic results.
Thank you for another great video.

Cheers! Worked rather well I thought.

Nice activation with this antenna. GL, PA9CW Tonnie
Really pleased and surprised with it. Great value for money!

superb! We seem to have crashed their site.
Oh dear! To be fair you could easily make one, but this is so good for the money.
Nice setup and works very well, thanks for sharing. Cheers, be safe. Alex K9YTT
Hi Alex, Yes it worked surprisingly well. A great back up and lightweight antenna system.
