I trim my own hair (type 4) and 3 year old daughter's (type 2-3) every 4 months or so and whenever I find knots. After it's cleaned, I twist then trim. I don't trust anyone with our hair. Even though I live in nyc, its queens and there's no natural or black hair salons near me and don't want or have the time to travel to Brooklyn, Manhattan, or bronx. Also some of the places I found cost more than when I was relaxed and I didn't go to the cheapest salons back then. If I make a mistake, who cares. Our hair's curly. LOL. 😂

You have to a serious conversation with them. I getting my ends trimmed at the beginning of each season. And I trim 1/4 inch or less. So far that has worked for. I trimmed my hair myself and it was not a good look. My fro was lump sided

I usually get my hair straightened every 6 months and get my hair professionally trimmed but after seeing your video, I am going to try to do it myself.

I trim my own hair. I feel I need to go to professional to get a good trim/cut, but I'm scared of them taking off to much of my hair. But a good cut would minimize split ends. Thanks for share.. video was great.

I usually do it but today I actually had my cousin do it. I love trimming my hair. Gives your ends a chance to renew

You did an awesome job. Yes I trim my own hair. I go to a stylist once a year to get a precision trim.

I'm going to do this next wash day, because the ends of my hair have been bothering me. It's dry and whenever I do my regular twists, the twists end up knitting at the end. So definitely will do

Hi, I watch your cideos all the time. I absolutely wish I could trim my own hair but in looking at your technique would you say that your hair is even all the way around? I guess my problem is that my hair is layered, so I'm not sure if Im trimming hair that is really ragedy ends or hair that is a part of a longer layer; if I'm making sense..LOL

I really want to try and trim my hair its just I don't know how to distinguish the difference of split ends and regular ends and it more cheaper to trim your hair by yourself

This is nice. Your hair is so full. I just did a trim using this method about a week ago.
QUESTION: Do you shed a lot? If not, do you have a way of preventing it?
Usually, when i hold a section of my hair and "stretch" out the ends using my fingers on the other hand (like you did at 1:05) shed hairs come out....a lot!!! Happens a lot during detangling.

The ends of my hair are straight. I'm wondering if those are split ends, or they're naturally straight (my hair has never been chemically straightened, pressed or flat ironed). Thanks!

I trim my own hair. One to many bad experiences with a professional trimming my hair. I only go to a professional when a hair cut and style.

I trim/cut my own hair as I don't wear it straight so the unevenness is not evident :)
