Been looking at a lot of different techniques for painting a marble texture and so far yours is the most realistic one I've found, obviously more work than most others but apparently that is what it takes to get an authentic looking marble, great job!
Hi Michele, yes it is all created using acrylic paint and glazes. Always ensure that the surface is thoroughly dry and sanded smooth between layers. it is not necessary to apply a sealer, if you want to know exactly how I produce this effect, and the materials used, then you will shortly have the chance to view all my courses and tutorials should you join as a member on UA-cam, best wishes, Simon
Привет ! Твое имя Саймон? Как мне посмотреть твои мастер классы? Буду весьма признателен тебе. У тебя великолепная техника. Я тоже декоратор но использую гуашь. Спасибо заранее за ответ.😊

Hi, thanks for the interest in my paint effects videos, I use a combination of acrylic satin paint, acrylic scumble and acrylic metallic gold paint. If you would like to know more details, you can find full tutorials on my membership channel, on the Artist level.
Great video and very nice looking piece. Those softening brushes are expensive, but appear to be absolutely important and needed to soften as you go. Since expensive, do you clean it as you go or after the project is complete or do you have more than one and clean one as you go then help the other one dry with perhaps a hair dryer? Or maybe they are so soft and you brush so lightly that they do not pick up the paint and can be cleaned once the project is complete. Just wondering?
When I'm using water based acrylic paints as here, I keep a clean wet cloth handy and wipe the softening brush after each use. This ensures that the brush stays nice and soft. Badger hair softeners are expensive but worth every penny, I've been using that particular brush for over 20 years.
@@SouthCoastStudio, Thank you so much for this valuable information for this beginner. I found an old piece of scrap 5/8” plywood .I cut out about 7 pieces. Only about 9” x 9”. I routed the edges with my router. Put taping compound on the tops and edges, sanded smooth. Did this many times until nice and smooth. I put 2 coats of primer on them. Then tried your Faux Green Marble method with the brushes I had on hand and while not as nice as yours, I was happy with my end result. Especially being my first try. I have 6 more test pieces to practice on, trying different colors combinations. First one was with turquoise blue, yellow, white and brown. I only added the brown on the final coat. Tried lighter to darker as I went. Turkey feather for veins. Going to get a small detailing brush for adding white to the veins. I struggled with the turkey feather to add white to the veins. Thank you very much for answering my question and each one of your very informative videos. Ultimately, I will do a 15 square foot tabletop. Cheers and keep up the great work.
@SouthCoastStudio thank you so much for commenting back! Beautiful painting! I've never painted anything in my life and I'm three days into using this technique on my bathroom countertop. It's starting to come together nice.
Hi, unless I need to use oil based glazes and eggshell paint for particular restoration projects, I always use acrylics. Polyvine, makes very good scumble glaze and varnishes.
Almost worthless for learning, it looks great, but to be helpful in learning there needs to be step by step direction and thing you should not do in marbling1

Thanks for the feedback
This is amazing! The layers really build up to authentic looking marble.
Thank you
a verbal step by step as you went would have been good
Absolutely amazing! Beautiful work sir, thank you for posting this.
Thanks, you're very welcome 👍
At each step I say, "Nooo, it looks good as it is..." but then think, "Oh, yeh, that makes it even more realistic."
I was hoping to see the final result...
I’m subbed after the second video on marble..
Such an amazing piece. Thankyou
Muhtesem olmuş bu arada elinize emeğinize sağlık ❤️

great job. they should get more doing it at college.
Thanks, and I quite agree with you.
Супер 👍👍👍👋😀
I take that this is acrylic and not oil based ? No sealing between layers ?

are these oil based colours or water solutible?
Hi, I use water based wherever possible 👍
does he use a feather in the first step??
Yes I think he does. I wish we could have seen the finished piece though?
Is that glue or just white paint you're layering with
Hi, it is indeed paint 👍

That's what I call the real marble effect
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Natural
Good marble I also draw one black and gold effect in my web I hope we can learn from each other
But I only do one coat
what do you seal it with if it is on a counter top
Try a strong acrylic lacquer or varnish, or maybe a resin based sealer
Anyone learn anything? Me neither
what is the gold paint
Polyvine acrylic gold paint
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😍😍
