    Just discovered these gorgeous plants - I live in Canada so they're sold as an annual in gardencentres. Seeing your bushes almost makes me want to move south! But I would miss the snow. lol

    I’m in Houston, Texas. I am a nut for color coordinating my areas: cool pinks, purples, whites in front yard; warm reds, yellows, whites in back. But I keep the lantana in a natural controlled size, paired with crepe myrtles, caladium, vinca, liriope, day-lilies, and some evergreens.

      Hi! I am in Houston as well. I just purchased a whitevLantana from Cornelias today. I'm wondering how hardy the white plant may be...?

      @@coletteterrasson5350 I find that lantana are really very heat and sun tolerant here. Not so much in Virginia where I lived for over forty years. Easy to grow and prolific bloomers. But they grow fast in the summer, so I prune them once a month to keep them on the smaller side. Whites are very pretty. HOWEVER…they so not like deep cold snaps in teens or below. This last winter they all died down to the ground. All but two have come back from the root.

    They are all so beautiful! Thanks for sharing how to cut them. We are in Wisconsin so they are annuals but grow crazy with weekly fertilizer from Beat Your Neighbor 10-10-10.❤❤

    I have multiple lantana plants thanks to my dad who grew more from a huge lantana bush at his old house. I’m thinking about putting those bushes in front of my house (instead of regular green bushes). Can you describe how many bushes you have in the video - how many makes up the red bush, etc.? I’m trying to figure out how many I need to form a nice, beautiful bush (almost a hedge) like you have. How much space do you recommend between each bush?
    I’m new at gardening so if my questions aren’t answerable as is, I will try to better explain what I mean. Any help is most appreciated. Lantana thrives where I am in SC and just add is much wonderful color. Your lantana are incredible. Wow!

    Great video Francis! I’m definitely going to have try this on my yellow ones in the back. Your “Special Guest” seems to know her way around the Lantanas as well! Thanks for making this one, I’ll definitely be coming back to watch this one for a refresher course.

    We prefer our plants to have a more natural look. This is especially true with Abelias. Turning them into shaped meatballs or formal hedges is painful to see. Anyway, we're looking at Lantana for the first time here in Central Texas, and we will be going with the Bandana series. Those generally grow 1.5-2' high and wide, so a much more compact Lantana than most other varieties. Given their smaller size, I am not sure whether I will need to remove any meristems for growth control.

    They are so beautiful. I need some color in my front yard but don't think they would do well in NJ. The front of my house gets a couple hours of sunlight per day in the summer so I'm stumped on what to plant. Your property is stunning.

    Here in Georgia we have two varieties of lantana that come back every year.. the solid yellow ones and the red orange and yellow. Mines just now waking up and starting to get green shoots at the base of the plant. We have had 2 cold spells that was later than usual.

    You have amazing looking lantanas. Thank you for the tips. Is there a difference between the bush and ground cover or just how you prune and maintain them? I will definitely be planting these in my yard.

    • @Szdday
      @Szdday  3 роки тому

      The yellow ones are typically use as ground cover but you can train them to grow taller by not cutting them back in the off season.
      The Orange/Yellow “Radiation Lantana and the red one’s “Dallas Red” are the hybrid Lantana-Those are the super growers for sure. You have to stay on top of pruning them or they’ll outgrow their space.

    Those are BEAUTIFUL!

    • @Szdday
      @Szdday  3 роки тому

      They are typically grown as perennials here in Arizona, but for Utah they would be an annual, because they don’t like the freezes. You can bring them in pots for winter.

    Why does it up curl the top leaves? It appears to be healthy otherwise...it is a young plant, and is in a pot.
