There are over 150 species of the perennial flowering plant known as Lantana, a member of the Verbenaceae family of plants.
Native to regions like Texas, Florida, and Hawaii in the US along with Central and South America, lantanas are happiest in tropical ecosystems. Because of their propensity to grow in such hot, humid climates, they are able to stay active year-round. That means flowers…lots of flowers. In fact, most species and cultivars of lantana produce blooms all year. Even in cooler climates, lantanas can grow as annuals that will flower from spring to fall.

This is my favorite flower for containers. I love how delicate looking they are and their flowing nature. I just wish I lived in a climate where they grew all year.

It is an ornamental plant introduced in India at Alipore Zoo Calcutta over 100years ago. I t became invasive and spread most of the forest area all over India. It has no natural enemy in India. In Tamil Nadu alone it spread over 3 lakh ha. and it affects the natural habitat. and is one of the major causes for Human wild life conflict every day for their feed and water and shelter.
pl do not spread the idea of popularising it.It is menace. Keeping the plant in the house holds promotes invasion as the birds love to eat them. Lantana camara has several mutant varieties . I urge the readers not to buy this sp. Tamil Nadu Government started removing them from the forests. Hon.Madras High Court, Madurai Bench has already taken up the case on PIL for removal of major invasive species found in the forests of Tamil Nadu.

Lantana can reach 2 to 6 feet tall and 3 to 10 feet wide when grown as a perennial. In areas where treated as an annual, lantana grow 3 to 4 feet tall and 1 to 3 feet wide in a single season.

Wow gusto ko lahat , mayron lang ako dito yung pink, Red at gold yellow . Dami pala species of lantana ,nagkaroon ako ng lavender kaso namatay siya noong na transplant ko , naghinayang ako, wala na ako nakita bumalik ako doon sa hiningian ko ng cuttings , namatay din sa kanya . Ngayon puro full bloom mga lantana ko.
