    These videos have been incredible, Tom has so much knowledge and hearing him go through it with you is awesome to hear. I am a big fan of my Avoda Combo length irons because of having issues with the 4-5 irons getting up and coming in like an iron should (I have previous experience with the Cobra One Lengths which were great but those medium and long irons are just not for me)
    Love that you are going down this road, looking forward to more videos!

    Big fan of one length. Only play couple times a month in summer, definitely more consistent for me. 😊

    I am the one-length guy Tom mentions. High swing speed (~100 mph), spin, and height. Even I was hitting it a little low, so I bent my low irons a little weak. Even though I still hit the 4 iron low (~70 ft), I could not be happier overall now with great gapping and extremely consistent strike:
    4 - 20*
    5 - 24*
    6 - 28*
    7 - 32*
    8 - 36*
    9 - 40*
    P - 45*
    G - 50*
    S - 55*
    L - 60*
    Obviously my 5 wood, 3 wood, driver are closer to regular length to achieve the ball speed, height, and carry I need. I think Tom’s idea is going to revolutionize golf fitting, truly

      Same for me. I'm a +4 and play wishon eq1-nx irons. I'm like 98-102 (iron speed) mph on GC3, but I don't even game the 5 iron. I go 6-LW. 6 iron is 26 loft. Anything lower and I hit it lower than I'd like but my attack angle is like 6-7 down which makes the launch not idea. If I shallow out attack angle to 2-3 down I can hit 4-5 iron with very good carry gapping but I don't like manipulating my swing to shallow out when everything else is optimal so I just bag a 21 and 24 Titleist hybrids which gap perfect.

    I swapped to one length about 2 years ago. After about a month they finally clicked. Dropped 10 strokes off my handicap. Same set up and swing.

    I like one length for the bottom end of my bag. I have one length Cobra Hybrids from 6h-3h. 7i through wedges are standard. The OL hybrids instead of irons really help with the low ball flight that plagues low lofted OL irons.
    It’s not perfect, but has really improved my game over the past year. Dropped from 22 to 15.5 handicap this past year

    I started with one length irons and used them for the last 4 years. Recently demoed some variable length and decided to go with that. I think it really helped me get comfortable with the game and I recommend them to new golfers all the time!

    Not sure Moe Norman ever did anything other than briefly experiment. His regular irons were variable length. Matt Dobyns played one length for a time, and has now switched to two lengths. He was involved in the Sterling brand of one length irons.

    I'm a fan and gotten older. 7-g forged tec sam length, and my wedges are a 1/4 inch stepping down from there. 5 and 6 iron (tec x) are standard, but they are the last iron. Great review, I would love to try these.

    I don’t use as many irons anymore at my age( 53 and 7 iron is the longest). I am definitely considering one length irons in the future as I get older so I don’t have to bend over as much!

    One length fan. I've been playing them for several years, went from a 4 hcp to a +1. I can't understand why people refuse to believe that us amateurs would not be more consistent with one length of irons than 8 lengths of irons. If you had to start golf all over again, why would you hand anyone 8 different lengths of irons?

    Tell me the benefits of variable length shafts???

    • @kourt2469
      @kourt2469 3 дні тому

      The only benefit is speed regulation. Shorter shafts in wedges slow down your club head speed, longer shafts in the long irons give you more speed.

      @@SL-iz5tx "The Scientist" is perhaps best known for his unorthodox approach when it comes to his iron sets. His most recent set of irons aren't all the same length as his old Cobra irons were. However, they are still quirkier than any other professional golfers set of irons.
      One quirk of DeChambeau's irons is that the short irons are the same length as a standard 8-iron, but his longer irons are all variable length, although slightly shorter than you'd perhaps expect for someone of DeChambeau's stature.
      DeChambeau's Avoda Prototype irons are 3D-printed (would you expect anything less from the Crushers GC captain?). As well as being 3D-printed, these irons have been ground down and curved to sit and play more like a wood, effectively creating bulge and roll with an iron to combat losing the ball left.

    Very fascinating. I thoroughly enjoy the tech conversations of the cutting edge stuff. The 1 length clubs even in the combo, is the distance gap created purely by the loft changes? Are the loft gaps the same as is typical, ie 4*? How does it affect the swing weight? Very fascinating and intrigued.

    • @toneyo4794
      @toneyo4794 5 днів тому

      Distance changes or gaps are due to loft differences and weight distribution in the head and perimeter weighting. So a wedge may be more like a blade and a four iron may be like a game improvement iron. So same swing speed with varying head types and weighting gives different distances.

    • @kourt2469
      @kourt2469 3 дні тому

      Distance is created by club head speed/ball speed, launch and spin. Same length irons you lose club head speed in the long irons because of shorter shaft. They try to give you back ball speed by utilizing technology in the head to make the face flex more but if you're a slow speed player you likely won't have much success with a single length iron below 6 iron loft.

    • @toneyo4794
      @toneyo4794 3 дні тому

      @@industrialpalletworx3548 cobra one length irons are set up so the longest iron a 4 iron is 30 grams heavier than the 7 iron while the wedge is 30 grams lighter than the 7 iron. That is a 60 gram difference between the wedge and 4 iron. This is overall weight not head weight so the swing weight is consistent. It’s not just a few grams. I changed my driver from an 8 gram weight with a swing weight of D6 to a 3 gram weight and swing weight of D0, I had to put a lighter grip to set it D3. That’s just a few grams that dramatically change the club. What does 60 grams do?
