I saw Vlogs of truckers while browsing UA-cam. You must have a tough job. I remember traveling with my grandfather when I was 16 to buy our new home from Ann Arbor to Miami. Three of my girlfriends were with me in the truck my grandfather drove. It was a great trip for us girls. My grandfather even had me drive his truck for a little while. For 33 years my dad had a Uniflite cabin cruiser, 42 feet long. For those that think that's a truck, it's not, lol. Uniflite was a boat company out of Bellingham, Wa.. It came out of the factory in '73 w/twin Cummins 903's which are 8 cylinder & about 330 HP apiece, maybe a tad more. My father bought it from the original owner in early '83 & took great care of that boat and those engines and I learned to love Cummins ever since. Back in '73 when our model was made Uniflite either put Cummins in them or 6 cylinder Detroit's My old man always said the Detroit's were excellent engines too. When I see a Pete w/Cummins it makes me happy especially since CAT had to get out of the truck engine business. Anyway, gorgeous Peterbilt you had there and my only thing is I'd want the double bunk which you mentioned. Nice vid here too.
You can get a Green APU for way less than the TK TriPac. The Green APU can be set up to keep your batteries fully charged. Parts for the Green APU can be had at any automotive parts store. It also weighs less than the TK unit. The top of the CB antenna should be at least a foot higher than the faring for better SWR and reception. Having a 13'6' trailer behind it will block the signal. I have3 had CB Radios since 1969 so I know something about it
Although I like the 389's better, this is a very nice truck. Don't be upset with yourself about the single bunk. It's an honest mistake. If the new owner is happy with the single bunk, leave it at that. You'll know for next time. Great job Keith!
I like that digital dash board. Especially love the fact that it has a voltmeter built in and it stays lit and active when you crank the engine so you can see the cranking voltage ⚡

My career has mostly been in KW T800 W900 and T680/880 but I did get to drive a 579 once as a rental and I loved it the cab and sleeper are amazingly designed the perfect combination of old school and new
I drive an '18 cascadia but these new pete's look so good I might have to buy one used in a few years if I decide to go owner operator. Interesting to see the completely different interior from mine
Just drove one for the first time yesterday, amazing truck. I've loved my Freightliner Cascadia, drove one for 7 months, but this new Pete is just on another level. My only complaint are the mirrors, the mirrors are too small, can't see much out of them, sure I would get used to them after a while though.
Love the paint on that machine. I think that the 579 are the best looking tractors on the roads today, although I have no idea what the overall opinion of them is from the people who have extensive experience on the road driving various makes/models of semis.
Okay so I really love the 389s but I'd be okay with this one too. Should have went with the green Apu and you don't have all that stuff hanging off the back of the cab everything's contained in one unit.
It's a shame that trucking has gotten to the point that truckers are rarely able to afford to own new trucks. Nice trucks, heads and shoulders above what the trucks were in the 70s & 80s.
@@exilemike I never had a problem with em. I'd take the fuel economy benefits of super singles over duals if I'm ordering a truck that'll have the highest mpg.
I'd like to see a 2023 579 but with the 80 midroof, dual stacks behind the sleeper, 605 cummins 2050 tq. Keep all the aero except the roof fairing. This truck is very nice as well.
If you're not trying to pull a deck with it, and the axle ratio is fairly tight, it should give good mileage. As to fuel prices, they are coming down, at least in the far North. Down to $6.40 US/gal.
$5 dollars a gallon is cheap that’s about £3.89 pounds, we’re paying between £1.77to £1.90 a litre in the uk so that’s £7.90 a gallon or when converted it’s just under $11 dollars a gallon and we run at 44 tons goss or 97,000lbs
It’s expensive for us but at the end of the day the US is the 2nd largest oil producer in the world. Unfortunately you guys in mainland Europe just don’t have that sizable of an oil reserve. Everyone says become energy independent but it’s not that easy if you don’t have that much of a natural reserve. US gas will be inexpensive again eventually. Blessings to you.
If manufacturers can somehow make the damn steering wheel last for more than 200000 miles without falling apart and make the sleeper cabin a lot more insulated, it would make a world of good. Noise from the apu fan hanging on the back just reverbiates inside the sleeper and sucks when trying to sleep.
I hardly hear my APU fan in My Volvo 760. Then again hauling a refer that normally is running 24/7 make you not notice the slight APU condenser fan running.
I used to work for Rush Truck Center in Winter Garden FL. And, The closest model to the 589 was the 387. Honestly nothing against what Peterbilt has done with keeping up with the times, I still like the look of a 379 better. Granted when I still worked there we were getting in the 388’s and 389’s. Still think the long square hood looks better than the 386/387 Round style hoods. By the way I loved working for Rush
Yes they do have a special program of making LNG and CNG trucks, but to build one your self online, you need to beg them to send you the right pamphlet& dealer to order from.

Firstly as someone who is starting to grow an interest in trucks (I'm a Brit), I love the look of this thing. I liked the walk-around to see more of what that one has to offer.
