  • A 10 minute video tutorial by Stan Higgins, Independent Owner of Postech Winnipeg Screw Piles to show potential customers how to design a deck with a screw pile foundation.
This video covers where to place the screw piles, the spacing between screw piles, how to determine joist sizes and spans, beam sizes and placement as well as calculating the loading required for each of the screw piles. Note that this video's content is specific to the deck building guidelines of Winnipeg Manitoba Canada.
We've strived to maintain accuracy but even those in Winnipeg should consult with local codes to verify information is correct and current.

If I'm not mistaken the cantilever is not counted in your joist span

What weight would you per sqft use for a covered deck?

Thank you for this. Very well explained. What is the typical 'per pile costing average' that you can share?

Hey Dustin it's hard to say since sizes vary. Generally $250 to $400.

What kind of depth does the city typically want for the screw piles

@@jays95 around me the soil decides. Frost depth is the min plus 2 feet at the required torque. (so around 5-7ft) You keep going until torque is met by the soil being able to secure the pile.
