- The Ford F-150 is the best-selling vehicle in America and subsequently the most popular pickup truck on the road… But what about off-road? The release of the Raptor in 2010 offered an off-road capable truck at a steep price tag. The aftermarket would soon discover that there are ways to achieve a fair amount of capability out of the standard trim levels without shelling out quite as much cash as the Raptor required. Enter Seth Lowery’s 2016 Ford F-150 FX4.
In this episode, we meet up with Seth just outside of the Dallas / Ft. Worth area to learn all about the inspiration behind his custom 2016 Ford F-150 FX4. We discuss some of the key components of the build and show how it was designed around Seth’s lifestyle of off-roading and mountain biking. We also show what is required to properly fit a set of 37” Nitto M/T tires under a F-150, highlighting the ReadyLIFT Suspension with Bilstein shocks and the 20” Fuel Contra Wheels.

Follow along to see the proper way to outfit your full-size truck with off-road capability in mind. Be it towing one of his Jeep Wrangler builds or taking the path less traveled to a more-secluded mountain bike trail, Seth’s lifted F-150 on oversized tires is the perfect mix between form and function.

Absolute BEAUTIFUL truck and great video. I have the ‘21 F-150 Black Widow edition and so wish I could fit 37’s!!!! Thanks for the great video Collin and again, great build Seth!!! Hope to catch you guys in Colorado or Moab one day!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! We hope to catch you on the trail sometime!
Great video! Intelligent thought in the build up and design of the truck, the grill is straight fire on the front end. Really well done. Bikes are super cool too!
Appreciate the feedback! We love that this truck does what it’s intended to so well. We couldn’t agree more. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
The grill is cool! It’s definitely not like a rubi sticker. Also love those pivot bikes
The bikes are rad forsure. Interesting take on the grill… we feel the same!
People put TRD Pro grilles on their tacomas all the time. I think the Raptor grille looks great.
Good point! Thanks for chiming in.
Awesome truck!!! Perfect lift.
Nice build 👌
Question what do you do when and if you have a blow out? Put the stock on until you can get another 37”??
So what is the negative offset exactly? I’m looking to do this lift on my 2018 F150 and also want to retain the crash bars
Nitto tires? Wow…didn’t see that coming! 😉
If you’ve been following along you know that’s our favorite out there!
@@Built2Wander what size 37s are those?
I wonder what he had the bilstiein 5100 set to
What gears do you have???
We are obviously biased, but awesome video!
😁😁😁
What about the gears?
Do you think 4" BDS Coil Over setup would work on 37" Nitto's? Is the 7" a must to avoid cutting? Thanks! Roush F150 on Fox 2.0's.
20 x 10 -24 offset?
How much was the truck when you got it?
I’m not sure what the owner paid. I believe he purchased it used though.
Did you have to regear with those 37s?
The owner did not regear with 37s.
The troll in me wants to call you a poser. But the grill does look good on your truck. It’s not like you’re putting 392 badges on a V6 Charger. Now that’s a poser.
Amen to that… we agree completely! Thanks for watching. 👊🏻
Is the raptor bar cool? No one cares about Ford, so ya if it looks good it's cool. Nice build.
Amen. Thanks for the Input!
From Denton here, I have a 17 f150 roush on a 7inch lift 20 in rims on 37x12.50. Bitch rubs 😂 waiting on my coil overs
It rubs on a 7 inch but his somehow doesn’t? What offset are you running or wheel width?
I’m wanting to go to 37s but am on a 6 inch lift and 18x9 with a -12 offset and just really don’t want to go back to rubbing again, I just like the look of how they feel out the gap
We might be family lol I’m a Coates too
35”s ruined my differential. Can’t imagine what 37”’s would do.
What are your final drive ratio for your diff? I have a 3:31 in mine and it does fine on 35s, it’s a little slower but not too bad, I also have a Banks pedal monster throttle response booster on it so I don’t feel it being slower unless the banks has an issue connecting which is rare
No need for anything bigger than 35s.
You’ve clearly never owned 37’s
@@rock1181977 never had the need.
Go with 37s over the 35s and you get roughly 1 and a half inches of ground clearance so.
@gavinlee9478 and a lot more fuel consumption and harder to find.
@@1FiftyOverland you right you right but honestly and logically If you’re buying a truck the last thing you should be worried about is fuel mileage, and if mileage is a priority then get a damn Prius.
Lifts are garbage haha
I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinion. For the owner of this truck, the lift helps him to achieve the level of functionality he wants and needs out his truck. 👍🏻
