    😄 We used undyed, sterile catgut suture for internal stitches in veterinary medicine for years; some old-timers still do!

    In Scotland, in the 80s, we still called fishing line gut. I never saw it, or used it, but it was called gut.

    I’ve been wanting to try this since you did the first one with a mink veil. Have some old cat gut bass leader. No other reason to keep it. I’ll try to dye some.

    General question for uk fisherman..given polution levels in uk rivers are fisherman and women given a refund on their fishing permit when the river becomes poluted ?. Im curious and I don't live in the uk.

      Hi MyFly,
      I've never heard of anyone getting a refund although if a company or person gets charged and fined for this the money will normally go to the whole of the river and shared between the clubs to fund the challenge of restocking and sorting out the damage caused..
      All the very best Davie

    Hi Davie, does the catgut material float or sink more? Never have heard on it?

      @DavieMcPhail  Рік тому +2

      Hi Artic Grayling,
      You could tye a dry with it as it would certainly give you a nice body though it's more for nymphs as it will soak the water up..
      All the very best Davie

    funny , all the research i have done tells me "gut lines" were never actually made of animal intestines or "gut" it seems it was all silk from the silkworm , called gut as it comes from the inside of a worm . where cats came into it i don't know and actual feline catgut seems to be a fishing line myth . perhaps somewhere along the way "cat gut" fly tying material was confused with actual silk line or tippet ? perhaps i have just not read a reference to actual gut line or catgut ... very confused haha
