What a true champ, great attitude, no gimmicks, pure talent, great shot selection, impressive tennis iq and most of all a humble and lovely personality....i'm your new fan Learner.
For real i cringed so hard when he made that first statement and Learner replied "i dont really know how to answer that..." who are they getting for these interviews 💀💀💀
Learner Tien, the pride of Irvine, CA. He is named Learner in honor of his mother’s profession. She is a math teacher. He has a sister named Justice to honor his father’s profession. His father is an attorney.
Learner Tien? He was a learner and a teacher. This is one of the most artistic Grand Slam tennis match I have seen in my near forty years watching tennis at this level. The art, the craft, the skills, the geometry, the smart (intelligence), you name it. It had almost everything. It was intriguing. A classic in my view. This young man out Medvedev, Medvedev.
I remember watching him several months ago and thinking, 'he's like Medvedev.' If his opponents want to hit him off the court, they are going to need to get low for as long as possible because he, like Meddy, keeps it low and moves it around like a magician.
I'd let this simmer for a bit. Once other players figure out his play style and ways to counter, he might not be so great. It's a nice surprise, but will it last? I've seen too many players who were a flash in the pan, but we'll see.
@ Point taken. But he has tremendous potential. How he is managed going forward is a different thing. But you must admit he played that match at a level way beyond his experience.
Seems like a great kid. New fan here. I didn’t see the whole match but it is obvious that he will be tough to handle in the future… he is a fluid mover and so accurate with his shots… not the most power but hits the ball early and accurate.
"Learner's got a wicked serve today! He's nailing every return - it's like he's got eyes in the back of his head. This match is gonna be one for the history books!"
The winner deserves kudos and so does Medvedev for trying hard in the wee hours, an Australian Tennis scheduling official's booking strategy. Next time, the scheduling officer should start booking matches at 3 A.M. so that they can finish at daybreak. This may seem bizarre, but certainly not to the former U.K. penal colony down under.
The biggest moment in this 19 year old kids life and the interviewer decides it's his time for the spotlight. And please actually ask questions in the future.
CRINGWORTHY interviewer, you are interviewing Learner Tien, turned 19 last month, went through qualifying, into the 3rd round of main draw after BEATING the #5 seed, former #1 in the world, US Open champion, in almost 5 hours, down in the 5th set tiebreaker....and he comes up with "19 year olds are not supposed to be that good." .... "I used to live in Newport Beach."....""that is the first time this year a 5 setter has gone to a super tiebreaker in the 5th set." (HELLO!!!!! It is the SECOND ROUND of the first 5 set event of the year!!!) "you don't know what to say to that do you?" (as a matter of fact, YOU don't know what to say!) Here let me stick my hand in front of the camera!
Do they announcers not understand that you should ask a question first before you stick the microphone in front of them? So weird. They did the same with Novak the other day when they stated his record breaking stat and just put the mic in his face without prompting a question, weird.
@@jessicavegan Why are you coming here to undermine this young man’s character and potentially great future? Are you his boyfriend? You people are so cruel and wicked.
Jessica you should watch the game and value him as a player...if he is let him speak for himself....all soft spoken men with manners and no ego is not gay.....so refreshing to so american player who is not arrogant
What a breath of fresh air! Lovely player - so raw, so authentic
He's like real. It's just tennis. He loves the game.

Interviewers, please ask them questions. Stop making a statement and then putting a mike in front of them looking for a response.
it's a LOT better than the utterly stupid "how did you turn that match around?" It's such a dumb question.
Exactly!
For real i cringed so hard when he made that first statement and Learner replied "i dont really know how to answer that..." who are they getting for these interviews 💀💀💀
No, I don't want to listen to the same stupid questions. I rather hear the interviewers give props

An absolute natural. His court movement and shot making are so fluid, to go along with a calm and focused demeanor. Fight On!
One of the best matches this AO 2025.
The best
Had to come here to see his interview as channel 9 didn't show it, unforgettable match from both Tien and Medvedev, thanks guys🥰

What a beautiful match 🎉🎉 full of artistic expressions and talent.

Love his nonchalant demeanor. Breathe of fresh air indeed!
He’s such a character. Keep going young man. 😊
Congrats to you Tien, way to go young man!

The real Learner today was Medvedev

You are rather angry for no reason.

You should be proud of yourself?
😂
😢 feel for meddy...meddy always make it to the semis in every gs 😢....this guy not going to go that far
Further than Medvedev.
You should do some research before opening that clap trap of yours.
So great to have a gay player out there doing his thang!
Huh? His gay?
