Honeslty, I found out about Baten Kaitos by accident. When it first came out I bought it because the cover looked cool, didn't think much of it. Love it! I've played it so many times like how I replay Zelda games. My all time fav game cube game. The soundtrack is just mind blowing, the story is well made and the worlds are so beautiful. Gibari's my fav! :D

this IS a good song. I really didn't care for it back when I played the game, but now that I'm actually listening to it...it is a work of art.

I don't know why, but I always like it when I can see an old area retooled into something new in a different game.
Origins may have recycled some of the locations, but all the areas were completely different dungeons.

The Dark Brethren's price was paid. What was done for good was turned to evil, and the world nearly fell into darkness because of it. Yet even at the end of it all, they stood tall one last time and caught the islands during their plummet to the lands below.
@ripley4O77 In a way, it DOES fit in with the established story of the first game; remember, Melodia is Malpercio's curse, and Kalas is his prayer. Malpercio wasn't pure evil; he was just incapable of directly causing anything but evil, and I think that he hated himself for it.

I was confused for awhile TBH, until I played FFIX just last month after only seeing a demo of FFIX 5 years ago.
It's so odd coming back to this music after listening to Motoi's more recent work on the Dark Souls franchise. Similar, but this has alot more going on; possibly because of the turn-based element?

Still, both stories were very well done. I didn't really like Origins' story the first time through, but playing through both (Wings first, then Origins) really gives you an insight into an interesting and mysterious world.
This song is perfect. I would like to play a remake for recent consoles.

@yoyoyo88665 Baten Kaitos lured me in with beautiful graphics and top notch kick ass music AND gameplay. FF lured me in with Characters and CHARACTERS ONLY (such as sephiroth, Setzer, laguna, Cloud, Wakka etc) But guess what i know all of their histories and while reading em..I nearly dozed off, Sephiroth is the most interesting and heart grasping his mother n all. Point being i don't wanna play a game for just characters, i wanna play for much more and IMO FF plots are written by 3rd graders.

@Firellius No actually, every FF is completely different. You have to actually beat and play a few to see. FFXII and XIII for example, are completely different in EVERY WAY. The only thing they all have in common are high production values and some mascot creatures that are in every FF. I love Baten Kaitos and there's no reason to hate FF. I find that a lot of diehard fans of lesser known JRPG's tend to hate FF just because it's popular.

In Baten Kaitos theres none which was quite a shock to me because we all know japan uses sex to pull someone into a game. By far every FF game has done that except for the ones on SNES and yeah you're right about me finding one i liked but it wasn't an RPG it was Final Fantasy Tactics. @suiriryoku I agree with him, though at the time of its release you could've considered it a perfect game. Nowadays it's been surpassed, sure. Though you do have to admit, the level of amazing Namco pulled off with the graphics alone for this game compared to what the GC usually got gave it a hand at being considered perfect.

@AristaBomb you say they were shitty and had shitty graphics do you? all the way up to final fantasy 10 they had the best graphics available for the system at the time. every one of the games had the best graphics of the time, some of the best music of the time, and were the most powerful stories of the time. if you argue this you werent playing every one of them when they were released like i was as far back as the final fantasy for nintendo.
Ruler of the Nine Skies is the American name. This is the japanese title.
ah well, each to their own. I feel that eternal wings and the lost ocean was the one game that actually represented the universe of abten kaitos, while origins recycled 80 % of the content, backed up with admittedly great plot and of course a great soundtrack. while the battlesystem looks more flashy and frantic, in essence it was to simplified and repetive for my tastes.

@yoyoyo88665 Kind of the problem, I saw a few FFs and they were rather much alike. The branched off series of Tactics were nice, but the originals? Not so much a fan. I suppose there's a lack of creativity/originality that makes the series rather... general. Baten Kaitos had a unique touch and atmosphere. There was a serene beauty and solemn dread all through every single location. It's something which FF lacked.
Either way, Baten Kaitos was an amazing game. And this musical piece is excellent.

@Kyuuketsuki111: I loved the fact that the god of demise and destruction, the most feared being of all time ended up being 5 extremely good hearted people who decided to form a pact with darkness in order to save their world, I loved it how the creators were able to make those really subtle shifts between good and evil and I think that a lot of effort went into those little detail leaving you doubt 'good'

I really wish SO4 had an awesome soundtrack as Baten Kaitos! When the composer makes a bland generic soundtrack, its really frustrating when you know what he's capable of.

@AristaBomb Look you just have the wrong impression. I hate the Final Fantasy fanbase too. Every one of them puts one or two FF's on a pedestal and completely bashes and insults every other FF and its fans. BUT the games are all great. FFVII isn't "the best game of all time", but it's great. Every FF is completely different, so I'm sure you can find an FF that you'll like. Baten Kaitos is amazing too and I hope BK3 is announced at E3 but don't hate FF just because of its fans.

@yoyoyo88665 character development, heart breaking story and beautiful graphics. The voice acting could use some improvement. I hated FF cause of its creator who's obviously money obsessed (like most of the world is) he doesn't care about the fans. If you were to ask him to make a Revamped FF7 or FFX-2 (Better graphics more development) he wouldn't do it why?; Cause he'd be "giving them too much" Baten Kaitos had its share in doing that but instead in the sequel it goes back in time.

Yeah, it was mostly FFVI, VII and IX I was talking about. I agree the series has lost a lot of what once made it good, but there is no denying that the FF-series has some of the greatest RPGs of all time in it.

It's one of my favorite games- but Final Fantasy is my favorite series. You can love BOTH. There's NO reason to hate FF. Saying the girls are nothing but "attention grabbing sluts" shows that you know nothing about FF and you're just being ridiculous because a majority of FF's have a GREAT cast. I'm telling you- start out with FFIX.

And the thing about the "developer" is BS.... maybe they don't want to make a revamped FFVII yet because they're focusing on other projects. An FFVII remake is wanted, and they'll make it one day, trust me. Don't hate a series for stupid reasons like that. Every FF game is great and the staff POURS their hearts out in every game. Go play FFIX I'm sure you'll love that. Play Chrono Cross too, same people made it.

I love some of the FFs, but I felt pretty underwhelmed by a lot of them. They're good games, but let's face it, most of them are pretty overrated.
Final Fantasy is not relevant anymore. It's a shame people can't face that.

Got it from my brother, because he thought I would like it. This is a very good game, but it also has its flaws. Enjoyable overall though.

ugh, I hated Double dash. levels were too easy, and music was lame. I'll say one good thing about it, and that was that I liked the battle maps.
