I don't believe his crimes are what got to Shirley. I believe that she only distanced herself after finding out about Sonya and the intimate relationships that he was having with other women. Had those not come out PUBLICLY, she would try to quietly work them out and stay with Ernest.

I must admit that I tend to support women while analyzing a case. It's widely known now that Nesto is a devious man, and it appears that he deserves severe punishment. However, as further details emerge about this case, it becomes apparent that Shirley Strawberry is not as innocent as she seems. While I doubt she directly participated in Ernesto's criminal activities, she did benefit from the stolen goods obtained through unlawful means, and I believe she was aware of some of her husband's unsavory methods. Ernesto is an unreliable source, but even the most deceitful individuals occasionally tell the truth. In one of his jailhouse calls, he admitted that Shirley knew his true nature when she married him, and how could she not? He had been in prison for almost a decade before the marriage and was arrested four times during the eight years of marriage. Despite this revelation, as recently as June 2023, Shirley is still standing by her deceitful husband. Consequently, my sympathy for her has diminished, and I wouldn't be surprised if further incriminating evidence is uncovered. Birds of a feather flock together.

I stopped listening to the show years ago because of the strawberry letter. I liked Shirley but it seemed like she was…. The auntie that we take care of after grandma passes away… or am I the only one who has a sweet, gullible, nonchalant, fall for anything, auntie that we have to still put minutes on her phone because we don’t trust her with the internet… or is that just me?!
She’s not technically diagnosed with anything because ur grandma was in denial her whole life and as an adult, ur auntie refuses to seek assistance yet everyone in the family has to “secretly” check in on her because…. 😏 we can’t trust her alone!

What a mess this is. On Shirley, for me, I am still not sure. On one hand, I believe she wanted to believe good people make bad mistakes every day. She wanted to believe her husband was one of those people. On the other hand, how were all of the eviction notices not a red flag for her except now we come to know for this house Shirley's name was not on it as as leasing the property they used Sheridans credit/name perhaps to secure it? What's really odd also is how is all of this going down. Like at the end of all of our work day we can't wait to get home and relax, have dinner with our families. Who was Shirley meeting every night? No one it seems. He was out in the streets doing the absolute most! So man..I dont know. Thank you @Chronical as always bringing us the facts.♥
I think that’s why Sheridan was scared. Maybe she did sign the lease under Shirley and Ernesto’s instruction since their application would more than likely be denied due to their rental and credit history. Poor girl. They probably convinced her it was no big deal, to just sign, and now look.

Have you seen that she was the one evicted on 4 other properties? If it’s truly Shirley being evicted 4 times out of the 5, I am still just not understanding how this wasnt a red flag for her (Shirley).
