I think it's also because the base game also had NPCs with colossal weapons, or enemies with similar attack patterns. Though yes, for how unforgiving enemy attack damage and frequency is in the DLC, she's able to adapt to it pretty quickly.

Ah, this enemy was the first boss i encountered in the dlc after 2 years of not playing, on a ng+6 save too.
It gave me quite the nasty reality check: i was washed.

She's got some good fragments under her belt. Taking far less damage from attacks allows for more learning w/o panic. For several, this is the first boss they fight, blessing-less.

Yeah, running into this guy when you start the DLC and have no fragments to your name is an... *unpleasant* experience, to put it mildly. As I put it to my friend, "he's incredibly easy to dodge, but also he needs two hits to kill me and I need sixty to kill him. Needless to say, this is taking a bit"

I'll never get the appeal of soulslike parries, the amount of risk, trial and error, and muscle memo it requires cause of delays is bonkers. But where parries are instant and attacks are well telegraphed, it's just the absolute bliss~
