Have a fantastic day & Beer is the Answer? But i cannot remember the Question!
Hi there.
In fact, the export beer contains the same ingredients as Augustiners Lagerbier but is made with Saccharomyces pastorianus yeast that needs a different brewing style which results in a beer with with slightly more alcohol which makes the beer more durable. And that's why it gets it's name "Export": made for longer transport (outside of Munich)
Picked up this beer today from my local bottle shop (£3.80). I've had it once before, lovely. Drank along this evening with this video review. Agree completely, one of the best out there at the moment.
I lived in Munich for 2 years and love Augustiner! It was by far the most popular beer in Munich and my favourite by a mile...just can't get over the cost of it to by here in the UK :( I'm pretty sure I used to get the Augustiner Helles for around 60p in the supermarkets in 2013.
gts3004 I prefer the Helles which is the blond beer
Watching you from Munich while drinking Augustiner Edelstoff. Your commends are on point!
Had my first one a few minutes back. Absolutely amazing! Bought from the corner shop on the way home. £3.20 a bottle though for 50CL!
"Export" and "Pils" have been the only alternatives on the german beer market during the Sixties and Seventies (I had to accompany my father to his morning pint during that time as a little boy because my mother needed some rest badly). "Export" has been the beer of choice of the elderly. Now it's called a somewhat stronger "Helles" or "Lager", and voilà, it's hip again! (-:
Tried a couple of bottles of this whilst in Berlin, have to agree with every word. Fantastic beer. Cheers!
Just got back from Munich and I agree this beer is fantastic can’t wait to go back great vid
The Bier Hooligan I have to say you finished that beer in under 15 minutes not sure I’d like to go on a session with you lol keep up the fantastic vids
I could tell if it were fresh it was everything you said. Nice easy mouthfeel and the bitterness only cleans the palate.
Excellent beer , agreed . Beer of Europe have this in abundance ( usually ) and a local shop near where I live ( Reading ) usually stock this too. Augustiner Keller sells this and would love a Maß next time I’m in Munich.
According to the late Michael Jackson (the beer Hunter). Export refers to a style in German beers that is slightly stonger than normal. Typically 5.25-5.5abv and often in the Dortmunder style. And not as logic States for the export market. Taken from one of his books.

They sell Edelstoff on draft in the Augustiner keller off the high street round the corner near the church. There's a fountain outside it
Just picked up a bottle in my local supermarket. Booths in Lancashire.£2.90
Its quality alright, the vollbier by Augustinier even better though, they sell both in a random centra newsagents besr where i live in Ireland , well worth the 3.65 !
I adore this beer, but we not longer see it, in the USA (Louisiana), really.
@@TheBierHooligan Mostly, because so many people stopped buying such items, to only buy American craft beers.
@@TheBierHooligan I don't think that is why. It is less expensive to carry lower quality craft.
Find a store that deals with global village exports.
Sitting here, no Augustiner distributed anywhere near me. Stuck with Paulaner, which is VERY FINE hahan I'm going to hone in on it with home brew, nothing but time haha
I had this for the first time yesterday. I think it was old the head faded and slightly sour on the end. I also had the same problem with my last Paulaner Weisn the other night too. Light malts can go fast, my fingers are crossed the next one is not as off.
If you go to the Augustiner Biergarten during the warmer months, this beer is the main beer offered from the wooden barrel! On a warm summer day, there is no where I would rather be.
Hopefully i will be there again in July?
@@TheBierHooligan Great! I live in the area, so let me know and we can meet up for a liter or two :)
I say the same thing about Ayinger Jahrhundert. The best lager I have had, but I need to get this one.
Yeah, it's just the relative strength. Edelstoff is their premium beer, and apart from Andechs Spezial Hell it's clear winner from all the beer I have had in Munich. Between the Andechs and Edelstoff, it's a wonderful argument to have over a few lol You can buy in it the Keller, last check about €8 a Mass... also check out Beers of europe DOT co DOT uk where you can get it for about £2.90 a bottle!
Good review, but a little too much smacking! Your microphone really picks it up well.
Excellent
I think it's 2.70 at beers of Europe 👌
Germans say Export, you say Lager. That's it! ^^
I think it means they export it to other countries 😉
Tried this today. Totally unimpressed. Nearly $20 for a 6 pack and tastes like a Hofbrau Original. Unfortunate because its the only Augustiner beer available in my area.
Think its far better than Hofbrau Original myself but even if it was Hofbrau Original is regarded as one of the best beers around, not sure why you'd use it as a criticism!
@@DavidB-py8nz In my area (New England), Hofbrau Original is about $4 cheaper than Augustiner. Augustiner is an extremely rare product around here, so paying $17 bucks for a 6 pack that is on par or even slightly worse than Hofbrau is not ideal. Again, my opinion, but it tasted like a watered down version of Hofbrau
