This piece is definitely meant to showcase violin technique. Chloe did awesome. Everything was absolutely clean and solid.
I was listening and immediately thought... wow, the tone on that violin is amazing. I followed the original link, and yup- it's a Guanerius. For any violinist to even be able to TOUCH a Guanerius or Stradivarius is like a huge honor. That they loaned it to her to play on is the next level honor. These violins are like 300 years old now and worth millions. She's talented, young and LUCKY! 🎻

Chloe recorded this as part of her 2021 "Richmond" (virtual) recital, the other parts being works by Wagner, Gershwin/Heifetz and Chausson.
She was 4 months past her 14th birthday. She will be 16 come January.
For the current 2022-23 season she is the Singapore Symphony Orchestra's artist in residence, and is recording with them the complete orchestral works for solo violin by Mozart (3 CDs) and also a CD comprising Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" and Locatelli's "Harmonic Labyrinth" concerto.
The range and depth of her performances these past two years is without compare.
Genius of her ilk is extremely rare.

Chloe is an amazing musician. I could watch her bowing technique all day long. Fluid and free, but at the same time so precise. What we're seeing here is basically her entire life spent in pursuit of this ability. Her interpretation of this piece is so good that it sits in my 'classical' playlist right next to the legendary performance of the same piece by Maxim Vengerov.

Chloe is an amazing musician. I will be following her from now on. There are other prodigys to follow among them is Alma Deutscher who excels on Piano and violin and is already the composer of several classical pieces. Don't miss her she is very gifted.

Yes, she did a few videos with Twoset! I think it’d be really fun if you reacted to the video of her giving Twoset a masterclass on Milstein’s Paganiniana, I loved that video 😂 also, Chloe’s 15 years old, she’s about 2 months younger than me and it’s depressing 😅 (just kidding, I love her and I’m completely fine with my progress)

I loved that video. I also enjoyed the Ling Ling Workout she did with TwoSet.

It’s such a weird and wonderful piece, sort of spooky. Melancholic and melodramatic and melodic.

Another great recommendation for Christmas is Handel’s Messiah, which is best known for “Hallelujah Chorus”.

Ysaÿe's solo violin sonatas are all worth listening to. "Harmonies du soir," which is for string orchestra and string quartet, is also good.

I am looking forward to seeing your reaction to Christmas pieces, yey!
Since Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker is a suite for ballet, you would enjoy more with ballet performance although music itself is wonderful in its own right.
My recommendation is the version performed at the Mariinsky Theatre conducted by Valery Gergiev, which is allegedly the best ballet company in the world with the best Russian conductor.

You will find very famous and beautiful pieces of which you may not know the name , such as Waltz of Flowers, the Dance of Pipe Reed (the original version of your opening track), the Dance of Sugar Plum Fairly.
And you may like ballet as well and add to your reaction list as your new hobby, who knows?
