FJALLRAVEN STUBBEN - A YEAR LATER

- I was asked to make a video about how the Fjallraven Stubben pack was performing a year in, so threw this one together this morning.
In short, the pack is lasting brilliantly. The build quality is second to none and there are no issues whatsoever with wear and tear. I really love this pack, in fact it's my favourite. I have looked after it well and this should last me for life.
Any questions please just ask.

Hi Chris. Based on your review I have just received my singi stubben pack and what a brilliant piece of kit it is. Build quality is amazing I love it brilliant day pack. Bought mine last week on amazon 179 quid they are now 228 so I got a bargain. Keep up the good work your videos always a good watch. Take care stay safe
Great purchase - agree, they're built to last and it will be a pack for life, enjoy
Again a great review from the Stubben! Thank´s for this an Mandy greetings from germany!
Greetings from the UK! ATB
I took the frame out, and the padded seat out...which is pretty easy to do...there are zips on the inside of the base... And what you get is a pretty lightweight bag. The frame and seat = 1kg roughly....
The bonus, is that the bag tends to stand upright anyway, without the frame support...not rigidly upright...but even empty, it stands upright which I like....
The bag also sits better on your body I reckon...slightly lower...just feels more central to me.
I found I was leaving it at home, because carrying that extra kilo on the off chance you can't find somewhere to sit, seemed like unnecessary weight.
The frame separates into 2 pieces, so a bit easier to store at home....
Anyway...cheers for the vids...just thought I'd offer another option, for what is a really top end bit of kit. 👍
Thanks for sharing your tip mate - I'm sure people will find that useful. I have no problem with the weight, as for me - that is the whole reason I purchased a pack which doubles as a seat - I have plenty of other packs without frames. It's a quality bit of gear as you say, I'm fairly certain it will outlast me - ATB 👍
Hi chris Nice one mate looks a nice bit of kit Will after see what santa brings me this year lol Thanks for that chris Looking forward to your next camp Till then atvb to you take care chris
Cheers Chris...... ATB mate
What a pack that is. A lot of money but you get what you pay for don’t you. This will be a pack I’ll happily save for. Thanks for the review Chris 👍
Plus. There’s nothing wrong looking after your gear man, I make me and Charlie take our boots off before getting in the tents and also give all the kit a good clean down when I get home
Mate I can guarantee you will have it for life if you get one....... It was a bit of an extravagant purchase but got to have the odd one haven't you. Thanks for watching mate.
Look after your kit and it will look after you.
Love mine. I had the frame out the other day. I don't like the zipper functionality - it's not very secure when the frame's out. I'd like a hip belt for it too, for travelling. I've spent literally hours on it out air rifle shooting. I's brilliant for that, being able to access all the pockets and main compartment with one hand. The new version is interesting - better zips that meet at the top instead of on one corner. I'm tempted by the new Singi 28 that will take the same pockets. Again though, the zippers are just weird!
Cracking vid - cheers.
Thanks mate, I love the pack and I'm glad I got the original when I could. I think the Singhi has thinned down on features and detail a bit? Maybe cost cutting to increase margins? Either way, it's an ace pack mate and glad to hear you're enjoying yours 👍
Great review Chris. Thanks. Does it matter that it has no hip belt? I suppose there won't be much weight in such a small pack, but I always feel a hip belt is essential.
It has loops so you can add one if you like - it's not designed to carry weights which would necessitate a hip belt though and the pads are very comfy - it sits nice. Sadly, you can't buy this model though anymore.
I just ordered one for $405 Canadian, it was the cheapest I could find it for, with the side pockets and shipping from finland. not many left around I have seen it must have sold out long ago.
Enjoy your pack when you get it 👍
The Keb Hike 20/30 is Bergshell material which is better than G1000, however this backpack obviously has some clear advantages like being able to use it as a seat to sit on and drink your water/coffee/etc. I don't totally like the hide straps but I could handle it. I do really like how the side bags attach to the main backpack.
I really like the pack - it's been replaced by a newer model now - the "Singi Stubben" which has a metal buckle closure.
@@MCMOutdoors I see that now, thanks. I didn't realize that the new version was available. They didn't mention at the Fjallraven store that it was a new version but that is what they had there.
@@MCMOutdoors Hey, check out the photos of this Fjallraven store in Canada. There are two stores where I live (the smaller one can order stuff in for a customer) but this one is the bigger store. Here is the webpage but you will have to click on the "see photos" on the right. Doesn't that look amazing? : www.google.com/search?q=fjallraven+banff+store&rlz=1C1DIMC_enCA864CA864&oq=fjallraven+banff+store&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i64.6223j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
I've got this bag. Have you found / needed a way to get a sleeping bag to stow on the bottom of the bag? The one thing it does lack are extra straps to hang stuff
Hi, no as so far, I've only used it with an ultralight bag which packs down really small. I've been able to fit this in the main compartment. I'm sure it could be easily modded though. Good luck!
Evening Chris. Lovely kit. Ya right if you look after ya kit. It will look after you. I no your getting famous do you have to have your helicopter outside your house warming up 😁. Cheers mate
Alright mate. Lesson learnt, don't record video when you've started a wash 🙃 thanks for watching mate 👍
Me and my girlfriend looked at one in a store, it took both of our weight on it...the salesman was impressed.
Alright mate, yeah they're pretty solid aren't they. I love mine! I don't even like to get mine dirty. They make a slightly different one now - the Singhi Stubben 👍
Hi Chris. Have you had any issues with your side pouch toggles coming out of the loops. I noticed mine came loose the other day.
Hi Rob, no - I am always careful not to carry too heavy a load in them - a 1L Sigg bottle of water is about the heaviest that goes in them.
How did it come loose? Just thinking out loud, if it's under load and tension, surely it's being held in place that way? I think they come out side ways?
@@MCMOutdoors hi Chris thank you for the reply. I don’t think I’ve over loaded it. I myself just carry a sig bottle in one side. And a trangia and fuel in the other side. The webbing looked like it had been stretched. I have taken it up one loop and twisted the toggle. Looks quite secure now. Thanks again Chris take care Rob. 👍🏻
I guess you could put a few stitches in if you really needed too also. ATB mate
@@MCMOutdoors I’ll give that a go atb 👍🏻
Try to roll the raincover up instead of just pushing it in. It prevents ugly markings/lines on the top of the pack. It also feels more comfortable to sit on.
Thanks for the tip 👍
is it possible they altered the design? I cannot find the exact looking pack anymore. new version is way different :(
Yes, they have - this one is no longer available sadly 😐
Yes - but I'm glad to say the new one is just as good!
Good to see it's still going strong! Side note, looking healthy mate, you been working out??
Haha. Alright mate, no I think I've just lost a bit of weight! Work stress! 🤣 Thanks though 👍
@@MCMOutdoors haha and they said stress is a bad thing? Haha
@@MarkBrimPhoto hahaha. It has its benefits mate. Take it easy 👍
I see nothing wrong with babying something you paid a lot of money for. I do it myself because I don't want to buy the same product again when I could have taken care of it in the first place.
Thanks, I totally agree - some people tend to scorn others for looking after their kit - which is ridiculous. ATB
