We have visited and prowled the town of Mogollon for over 30 years visiting and speaking with several of the residents. Cooney's tomb was a bit hard to find as when he was killed by the Apaches, his fellow miners blasted a hole out of a giant granite boulder; the entrance was sealed with ore from Cooney's own mine. The boulder has a cross in the top of it.

I just love this channel. You present the history very well. Plus, I enjoy seeing the old towns. Ive visited a number of ghost towns during my life time. I used to take my children to them and let them wander and wonder. Good times.

there was a guy and his wife that lived in Mogollon in 1970s who was a baker from back east. he developed lung issues and moved out west. he brought his oven and other small bakery items. after a while he was getting better in the dry climate and decided to open a bakery in his detached garage. only open a couple of hours several days a week. i used to live in near by Silver City and go there to buy pastry's and bread great eating.

I'm pretty sure I saw this town on another channel last year, very cool town. Would be cool to some portraits here; maybe some with people in period clothing.

My wife and I went there in 2011 . There is or was a little bar and grill called the Purple Onion . There is a Purple Onion that's a famous land mark in Westfield MA . also ! I took a picture of the one Mogollon and when I got back to MA. I gave it them ! They thought that was kind of neat !

I've been looking for the town of Maverick, New Mexico. It's where my grandparents were married around 1910.
