WOW. That was unbelievable!!! I played trumpet for many years and that was a masterclass. The highest note at the end is so difficult to play and nail it, in tune on time and with perfect confidence. WOW!!!!
Watching this absolute madman fucking dual wielding his brass on stage like some magnificent warrior-bard may have been the highlight of seeing you guys in Minneapolis. Straight up amazing.
There are any number of other good versions of this song before, but this one just goes absolutely nuts. The bass, the drums, everybody gets to go crazy. Wow.
Curt was an excellent, EXCELLENT addition to the I Like Fun tour, I hope you guys have him back for future shows. Thanks for Dial a Song 2018, and thanks for a great tour!
I absolutely love every version of this you’ve done. But next? You should do a barbershop quartet version of one your songs, like the style of the original
It IS a valve trombone! On the recent tour, Curt held a valve trombone in one hand and a trumpet in the other, switching back and forth between the two for his solo intro. :)
There's been at least a couple. Off the top of my head, Severe Tire Damage, The First Album Live, and then Flood that's available via here: www.theymightbegiants.com/free-downloads/
As somebody who has performed on stage, lemme tell you, the performer works off of the audience's energy. Only the most pompous blowhards want an audience that watches in silent reverence of their work.
Curt Ramm with a trumpet in one hand, and a trombone in the other hand. Was great to see live!

Congratulations. You've found the good stuff. I think music has been getting progressively worse in recent years.

Kurt goes absolutely mad on Dr. Worm
This is awesome. I've heard this song thousands of times but I've never heard it sound this fresh.
I was just listening to the new live record and saying to myself "damn, this is a killer version !"
Where could I hear this new live record?

Is next week the last dial a song?
Anyone know which show this was recorded at? unrelated - what kind of monsters would downvote this?
Aural Sax indeed!!
Sounds like a valve trombone at first!
That's what it is. Curt dual-wields those horns like a true professional.
At least in NY he was switching between valve trombone and trumpet through the whole song.

Severe Tire Damage, At Large, Almanac, First Album Live, Flood Live In Australia, The Spine Hits The Road... where have YOU been? XD

But how has there never been a live VHS? Or whatever the kids use these days?
These are the people whom made hot dog. From Mikey mouse clubhouse
Master: plays masterfully
Audience: can't stop ruining this with drunkard hooting
Thank you, and of course there's no way to filter the caterwauling out... 😑
Neither of you would survive a concert in Brazil
@@FunnyFany - What a dumb thing to assume. People can tolerate a lot of things. That doesn't mean they like it. Grow up.

he had two trombones. TWO TROMBONES. if you watched a man dual wielding trombones you'd lose your shit too mkay
Oh please don't do Jazz (again).
