    Had plans to visit Scotland this past May. All got cancelled. But received an email from West Coast Railways that the Jacobite train will be back in service on July 15th. So hopefully things will start getting back to normal. Hope I can reschedule our trip for next year. Thanks for the update.

    This video was wonderful yet bittersweet- my daughter and I were to have been in Edinburgh and would have been there 19 June when you were doing your walk-about! We will continue to watch your informative and fun videos and plan, now, for next late summer/ early fall. Take care Tony!

    I was planning to go this autumn, but I will have to wait until next year. The good news is that an extra year of savings means more days there and more places to visit, focusing in the positive. My best to you and Kirsten.

    Wow, am i really first? Cool! Hi from Vancouver BC Canada (west coast). Thanks for the update. We too are in Phase 2. Lots of people out and about but not a lot wearing masks... yet we in BC are doing very well compared to the rest of North America. Have a nice weekend! Sounds like you're about a week behind us; many restaurants are now allowing us to sit (with distancing), and a few stores are open too.

    Thank you so much, Tony, for the video. I had no idea, living down here in the south of England just how bad the lockdown situation was in Scotland!! Because much of our area is back to normal you forget that Scotland set their own rules and restrictions. Amazing to see Princes St SO quite and empty!! I must say that I think that Nicola Sturgeon is doing a great job up there, far better than the idiot we have in charge. Stay safe all of you, regards to Kirsty and hope the cinnamon bun tasted as good as it smelt. My 2nd favourite city (after New York), miss you madly and can't wait to return.

Hopefully this 'new normal' of wearing face masks on transport, and restaurants/pubs/shoppes in malls/cinemas and theatres remaining closed will only be temporary. Cinemas and a lot of shoppes and restaurants in America are still shut, although a lot of places have already opened. Slàinte.

    Hi, Thank you for your videos, I really enjoy them. I was just wondering if you could do a video explaining the differences between Scotland and England? i.e. how the lockdown is handled differently or differences between nhs care or other parliamentary decisions and general way of life. It would really help me as I know a couple things Scotland do better than England such as university fees and free medication and I am looking to move to Edinburgh so it would be handy to see how day-to-day life in Edinburgh is different to here (I am from the Lake District) Thanks again, I hope you and your family all stay safe and well :)

    I was in Edinburgh last summer for a few days. It's funny how often I see the Boozy Cow in your videos as it's one of the places we ate. We stayed right near the Scott Monument and so saw much of Princes St and the Royal Mile, but it is interesting to see how many things we were very close to that we didn't see (Grassmarket, Rose St, etc)

    Scotland sounds much more sane and reasonable about mask wearing than USA and be grateful for that. Mask wearing has become a political issue with Covid-19 deniers. I am on the mask wearing side of this issue. I just received a map of Edinburgh that I like to look at while you are doing your wandering about. I hope to visit next Summer and want to get myself familiar with the area by then. Where were you when you started your walk? Tony could you start pointing out taxi ranks and hop on hop off bus stops if you think of it during your walks. Glad you are doing well and have stayed healthy.

    It was in deed strange times. I'm sorry things were more difficult for you guys than they were for us (Southwest USA) as we never quite allowed the Big Pharm to push us around fully. The echo must have been really eye-opening. I've never been on Rose Street with less than 100 people moving about. It seems sad but I'm really happy you were able to walk about and get out and breathe.

      Ah, I'm so glad that we Scots never fell for the anti-science narrative the far right pushed in America, thus extending the pandemic far longer than it needed to be. If not for the anti-vaxers we could have had COVID licked by the end of 2020. Instead the ignorant among us kept COVID going for an extra two years. Thanks a bunch, anti-vaxers.

      @@ClanBroonford Hey Tony, long time. Edinburgh isn't the city I know anymore. It's become a shopping centre for tourists and neglects to share the profits beyond the royal mile, so to speak. In terms of the lockdown con, my neighbourhood has been bustling throughout and surprisingly, no one has died of covid. Tony, Edinburgh is my city, my Parents city, I returned here in 1994, with pride, back in my home town after years of being a vagabond.
      (1996 was when we knocked about ;-) Happy days (I remember you and Gaz signing that with Sari and Joe ;-0)
      Tony, I've watched this city gradually lose its community spirit and turn into theme park for corporate gain. I fucking hate the counsellors who sold the very soul of this once beautiful little town. You must excuse my vitriol. Nothing personal.

    • @ClanBroonford
      @ClanBroonford  4 роки тому

      Nothing personal taken. I love the city as well. I just enjoy sharing it. Looking at all the old buildings and sharing this stunning place with anyone who wants to see it.
      I unfortunately have had a close friend who got very ill with covid, but thankfully recovered.
      Anyway, its nice to hear form you, glad you are healthy and well, Take care my old friend.
