    A lot of people use the word without knowing what it means. Getting tricked is NOT entrapment. "They didn't tell me they were a cop", well duh, that'd defeat the purpose of being plain clothed/undercover. If someone was threatened or otherwise coerced into doing something illegal that they wouldn't otherwise do, that's entrapment.

    I am currently 75 years old and grew up in Florida. My best friend's dad was a Florida Highway Patrol Captain and the FPH was using unmarked cars at that time. They didn't have the lights on them like they do now but they did have FHP tags and the patrolman were in uniform. I enjoy your podcasts which I have been watching since you were doing them for Miami PD. Keep up the great work.

      Bootlicker take. You don't have to do anything wrong to not appreciate the deceptive nature of LEO. We are not talking about some kind of gang task force that's need to be discrete. This is a regular traffic enforcement video and the ONLY reason they are unmarked is to increase revenue for the department. I've never seen a marked unit not be able to catching a speeding car while sitting on the side of the road.

    A Tennessee state trooper told me that they're not allowed to sit in the middle of the highway with their lights off in the dark or with their hoods up because they consider that entrapment. That's really not entrapment though is it?

    • @JH-wd6dp
      @JH-wd6dp Місяць тому +1

      Federally, no, but there could be a state law with a differing definition or more likely it's internal policy based on public image. Depending on who is in charge, some tactics may or may not be allowed. Sometimes it is individual supervisors. I knew one agency where someone complained the officer was parked in the grass facing on-coming traffic. They also restricted officers from crossing grass medians. Another agency restricted their deputies from driving faster than 92 mph which made highway speed enforcement nearly impossible. Some agencies have also forbidden their officers from using unmarked vehicles.

    I've seen many comments where people claim entrapment because the police aren't obvious. Example: officer dresses up in construction attire and assists speed enforcement from the bucket of a bucket truck.
    Another example: officer in plain clothes/costume presses the crosswalk button and crosses the street to see if drivers yield.
    Another example: officer in plain clothes stands at the street corner to observe drivers using their cellphones.
    None of these are entrapment, but there will always be comments suggesting it is. In reality, it's chronic traffic violators upset that the government employs different tactics to catch them doing what they otherwise do on a daily basis.
    Something that wasn't fully addressed in the video: the mustangs may be used primarily for speed enforcement and aggressive driving enforcement, but it's not impossible for a trooper to be in a position to "race." As long as the trooper isn't the one initiating, it may not be entrapment. There are plenty of knuckleheads who will pull up next to fast cars and try to race them.

    the thing that bothers me about these is why do we have unmarked police cars to begin with? I understand fully undercover ones where you can sit outside say a murderers house without being seen, but what do these do better than a marked cruiser? a marked car slows EVERYONE down, whereas an unmarked only slows down people who know exactly what to look for and speed often enough to know what they look like

    • @xxcody90xx41
      @xxcody90xx41 Місяць тому +3

      It's called omnipresence. Marked patrol vehicles serve only as a temporary deterrent. If someone is speeding and see a marked police car sitting in the median they slow down until after they pass before speeding back up. Knowing that any vehicle on the roadway could end up being a cop tends to make more people chill out and for longer than that clearly visible cop car.

  • @nickb289

      Yea because that random car on the side of the road aren't obvious enough. Like I said earlier people don't do dumb things around marked police cars, 4:34 is proof of that. It's not like their entire fleet is unmarked. They literally have marked cars show up on they're traffic stop as backup.

      @@pacificadventures9919 You just made his point. A marked car being visible keeps drivers from driving stupid which means they drive safer. They claim they stop people in the name of safety so why hide and address the problem after the fact instead of being visible and keeping the bad driving from happening. The answer is there is no revenue in not being able to stop people.

    • @pacificadventures9919
      @pacificadventures9919 Місяць тому

      @@Havoc_762 no, you are reading it in a way that makes since to you... You will see cars slow down when they see cops , as soon as the cop takes the exit or is out of sight they go right back to doing what they were doing... That is no secret. Having an unmarked car stops these law breakers in their tracks. Traffic enforcement isint meant soley as a deterrent. In your theory it just stops the bad behavior temporarily in a area cops are in... Another example, you are out doing something you aren't supposed to and you see a cop behind you, you immediately look down at your speedometer and go the posted speed limit if not already and constantly check your mirrors to see if they're still there. Sure someone in their right mind will continue to watch their speed the rest of their trip home but not everybody. And that's who they are out to find and stop.

Also there’s ways of spotting unmarked police cars to. I get that police impersonators that are thing & all that. But in reality if someone wanted to impersonate law enforcement, they can easily buy lights & siren kits off of places like Amazon & have other ways of obtaining pieces of police equipment like the badge for example. And if you’re worried about being pulled over by an unmarked car that you think is a police impersonator, call your local police department/911 or go to your local department if you know where it is.
