You are the consummate GoldWing Ambassador, and as such you are hereby crowned King Caliente! Don’t let that get in your head now...Ha! Go ahead, let it. Keep doing what you do man, loving the GoldWing and riding it or any bike for that matter is good for the soul.
Thank for the info Chris. I think I'll start using synthetic on the next change. BTW, I don't know how it is on your year bike but I find that taking the front engine cowl off to change the oil gives me a lot more room to work. On my year it take just few minutes to take it off and put back on. Also saves the ears of anyone near me when I'm trying to get the filter off.
Hello, I want to try amsoil in my honda goldwing f6c. Please write how amsoil works. How the gears work and whether the engine overheats. Greetings from Poland.
4 years later, are you still using this oil or another variation of it? I just picked up my 1st wing and want to go with what has been tested and proven.
@@chriscaliente5033 Is that 33 MPG hauling the trailer or just alone? My wife and I get about 50 MPG out of our 2008 Goldwing. And what year is your Wing please? I'm sure if I dug through enough videos i'd find what year it is... Thank you.
I have a question for those of you who use the boutique oils (like Amsoil, Motul, Redline, Lucas, Royal Purple, etc). Why pay $15 or more a qt when you can get Super Tech full synthetic at Walmart (which meets Honda's JASO MA spec) for $5 a qt? The $15 a qt stuff isn't any better.
Because in my experience, the Lucas oil additive legitimately makes a difference. And since Lucas oils contain the additive, i use it in my motorcycle. Besides, the bike only uses 2.2 quarts and only needs changed roughly once a year. Even at $15 a quart, it's still a cheap oil change.
@@KurNorock I’m not talking about an additive, I’m talking about the oil itself. It makes no sense to spend twice as much for oil or more when the less expensive oil is just as good.
How many miles do you go between oil changes with the amsoil? I just changed the oil in my gold wing yesterday just started using Amsoil so I'm just curious thanks so much.
Thanks for the video. I just bought my 2001 GL1800 which has 95K miles. I will assume it had standard oil in it. I want to use synthetic. Do you think the change will have any adverse affects? Thanks
Honda recommends changing their conventional oil every 8000 miles, Amsoil synthetic said that I can change their oil once a year if I use the Amsoil micro filter which is better than the Honda OEM paper filter, I personally change my oil 2-3 times a year because it's really not expensive.

My Boy Chris, The Guru of Goldwing, The Motivator, The Initiator, The Goldwing Gladiator!!!! Great vid Chris.
I use Shell Rotella T6. Works great on my wet clutch. It has for the last 15 years or so.
bubblehead7680 You should check out Schaeffer oil Americas oldest oil company. Some of the best lubricants in the world. www.schaefferoil.com
Shell also makes good oil.
Charles Peterson, I assume you use it for your bike. Which one do you use?

Mike W I just prefer to work around the cowl.
Love my Amsoil. Even at at9500 mile interval last time it still had good color to it!
Nice video, will change my oil tomorrow
I heard the Motul full synthetic oil really quiets the gears down more than the Honda oil
Your videos are GREAT, it really helps me
THANK YOU
Honda gave a 17ft.lbs. torque value on the oil filter and 19 ft.lbs. on the drain plug, just for grins
Nice job chris
Are you still using Amsoil? If so how is it holding up.

You can research yourself here: www.amsoil.com/
I run Amsoil and it is the best next to Motorex oils!
I use Motul 10w40, get great mileage on oil change.. get the same gas mileage about 200 miles to a tank
Personally I always use mobile one myself you can get it anywhere but very fuel going Hughes oil
@@jimwortham8634That better be 4 stroke Mobil 1 and not Automotive oil..
I heard the Motul full synthetic really quiets the gears down, did you see any difference?
Outstanding instruction video. Thanks.

Chris you never mention but what mpg do you get on the wing
I can get 200 miles on a tank, even more if I decrease my speed, thats about 33 mpg.
Chris Caliente ok was curious kinda figured that was close to that wish bikes got more range for far west rides

I get 280 miles per tank at 60mph

@@KurNorockThe bike takes 2 quarts if you want to change the pistons next week, it takes exactly 4 quarts..
@seatime674 i honestly have no idea why that says 2.2 quarts. Either i meant to say 4.2 quarts or i was thinking of my xr650l for some reason.

How is the Amsoil working out?
I love it
How often do you change the oil?

Man what would u do without the Goldwing lol
Come out easy when it's warm that what she said😂😂👍😁
