Beethoven - Drei Equali performed by Southeast Trombone Symposium faculty

STS faculty Nathan Zgonc, Colin Williams, Bradley Palmer and George Curran perform Beethoven's Drei Equali at the 2012 Southeast Trombone Symposium. Two altos, tenor and bass was a fun way to do it! The STS is held annually at the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University in Columbus, GA.

Rumour has it that a song arrangement of this piece was performed in the funeral of Beethoven. Thanks for sharing here...

Indeed, very beautiful, Beethoven was the greatest musician, not just as a composer, but as a symbol of hope for all humankind, and a symbol of freedom against any type of tiranny!, he will inpire the next generations, even if the y don't know much about classical music, but knowing his story, will bring them hope on their own lives.

Excellent playing! But why 2 altos when Beethoven scored this for alto, 2 tenors and a bass (I know some publishers have the two top parts in alto clef, but Beethoven didnt write it for 2 altos). Buit still superb playing!

why though? vibrato was considered an ornament at the time this was written, not to be overused.
