The comedian Billy Connolly is guest on 'The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder' during this 1998 interview. This video also contains Tom's opening and closing from this 7-30-98 show. This is a hilarious interview as always with Billy Connolly.
Sir William Connolly (b.1942) is a retired Scottish stand-up comedian, musician, presenter, actor and artist. He is sometimes known, especially in his homeland, by the Scots nickname "The Big Yin" ("The Big One"). Known for his idiosyncratic and often off-the-cuff observational comedy, which frequently includes the use of profanity, in 2007, Connolly was voted the greatest stand-up comic on Channel 4's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups, and again in the updated 2010 poll.
Tom Snyder (1936-2007) was an American television personality, news anchor, and radio personality best known for his late night talk shows Tomorrow, on the NBC television network in the 1970s and 1980s, and The Late Late Show, on the CBS Television Network in the 1990s. 'Tom Snyder was a pioneering figure in broadcast journalism who brought a no non-sense attitude to broadcast television news. Loved by millions, respected by peers, and resisted by the executives for speaking his mind.'

Billy is an astonishing cornucopia of definable human traits... funny, intelligent, unabashed and unique. A kind of cross between George Carlin and Robin Williams with a Scottish accent.
    He is an absolute treasure.

@@HansDelbruck53 Billy is short for William, which could also be shortened to Willy. or Gilly for that matter, as was popular to do in the middle ages.

@@graxjpg I'm aware of that, as most people are. But I'd never heard that moniker applied to Mr. Connolly. My best friend named William has gone by Bill for close to 70 years. He claims that he's been Bill all the way back to the Middle Ages.

I swear I’ve seen three episodes of Billy on Tom and every time they discuss the imposters. Did this film ever come out 😂

I looked on wikipedia, Imposters came out in 1998. Also has Tony Shaloub and Steve Buscemi, that's a plus

I'm not sure whether the Americans "got" Billy's soh & charisma 😂 But he's perfectly natural and doesn't act or pretend in front of a camera for anyone! .... and despite his working class upbringing, Billy is supremely intelligent and equal to any successful university graduate. I'd bet my house on him if Billy versus Posh got into a debate argument about anything 😉

The Mount Rushmore of comedy would be George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Robin Williams and Billy Connolly.
