    I saw David Cassidy at the MGM in Las Vegas in 1997. He was in top form, voice and performance was superb.
    Listening to all these interviews now, makes me feel he had an identity crisis with his character Kieth Partridge. He talks about this in nearly every interview. I wish he knew that we all understood David and Kieth were different people. RIP David

    David looked very relaxed in this great interview. You can hear the frustration in his voice when he speaks about not being taken seriously enough for his acting once The Partridge Family and his concert touring came to an end,makes you wonder what direction his life would have taken if he hadn't done those things,would he still be with us now,who knows? But,as selfish as it will sound,David's fans are so grateful he did do those things as he gave us so much joy in our lives,and we will love him forever for doing that. Rest peacefully sweet David,you are loved beyond measure.

    • @RosePetal17

      Carol, I think it was very sad that David forever, seemed to criticize his Partridge past. I've been watching the show again on a local retro channel, and not only is he (of course, gorgeous!) he had great comic timing, sensitive acting, and sang those beautiful (well crafted) songs. I personally think if he hadn't resisted his role, or he'd had more gratitude, his life would have been much easier. He CONSTANTLY complained about his past, so it followed him around like an albatross. :(

    • @carolwalker1450
      @carolwalker1450 4 роки тому +2

      @@RosePetal17 Hi Rose Petal,David did seem to be always criticizing his Partridge past I agree,but I think a lot of that was down to the fact that,he did countless interviews,and I'm sure they almost always asked the same questions,so it looks like he was always going on about that part of his life.
      I'm not sure what part of the world you are from,but I haven't heard of retro channels,wish I did,I would love to watch full episodes again rather than little snippets that you tube allow us to watch. I totally agree he was one unbelievably gorgeous man,when you think about it,he was not really a comedian,he started out as a serious actor,but his comic timing was great,he was a sensitive actor as you say,from his early stuff years ago,even before Keith Partridge. I think the songs in the show have well stood the test of time,again like you say they were well crafted,they are still just as great to listen to today as they were a lifetime ago!
      I really do think he was grateful for the show,I have heard him say many times that because he wanted to move on as an actor everyone thought he was ungrateful,he was very frustrated that he wasn't allowed to have much input with it,he was very much controlled by the producers/ directors etc,Wes Farrell for example,was one of those people.
      As he got older David had moved on ,he had got over the hurdle of his Partridge fame,he accepted it,and embraced it. All in all,he was a beautiful looking man with phenomenal talent,and a real love for his fans,from when he first started out to the end,he is still loved and adored to this day by his fans the world over,there will never be another David Cassidy.

    • @RosePetal17
      @RosePetal17 4 роки тому +2

      @@carolwalker1450 I agree with you Carol! I understand that so many interviewers probably asked the same questions, and it got to him, but I think there could have been a way to handle it all. I was thinking about David this morning, and I thought, like most actors/actresses starting out, and who are LUCKY enough to have such a big break, there is a chance to see it as a place to work on "acting chops." Susan Dey mentioned that, she learned so much for this first experience. I know David had small teen parts before The PF, but this was his first BIG break. Anyway, hindsight 20/20. He still went on to do wonderful things and we all loved him! By the way, I live in Toronto (Ontario) and there is a local Hamilton station (a smaller city outside of Toronto) that runs old sitcoms every day. They just finished running the whole PF series, so I taped them all ;) I am sure they will run it again at some point. I love that they do this, "I Dream of Jeannie", "Facts of Life" "One Day at a Time" (Partridge Family song too ;). "The Jeffersons" etc...I'd watch David every day ;).

    • @carolwalker1450
      @carolwalker1450 4 роки тому +1

      @@RosePetal17 Hi again Rose Petal,maybe there could have been a way to have handled it all,to have hidden all that frustration,but I suppose it's easy for us,or anybody else to see the other side of things,we didn't know what was going on in his life day after day,we only saw the David Cassidy that we loved,not a man who has problems like everyone else.
      I'm sure David learnt an awful lot from working on The PF ,you can see him develop from when he first started on the show to when it finished,he was a much better actor I believe at the end,but it wasn't just his acting skills that matured,he learnt a lot from Shirley Jones how to deal with his fame,to be a professional,and that's probably what Susan Dey learnt as well. I've watched a few of the things he did before PF and I think he was a good actor then,The PF was certainly the Big break for him,a life changer in thousands of ways,and I agree he did go on to do amazing things,and thank goodness he did,or we would never have had the joy that David gave us with everything that he did,plus of course his breathtaking looks,he was the absolute ultimate package!
      So,you live in Toronto,I saw an interview once with David in Toronto,saying it was one of his most favourite places,I can't remember who was interviewing him now,I will try to find it and let you know! I myself live in Clacton On Sea Essex England,wish we had the channels you mentioned,and have the chance to watch old sitcoms ,I have watched all the episodes of PF,but that was at least a couple of years ago.,I could watch them every day! I do know Dream of Jeannie,but the others you mentioned I don't know. Absolutely agree with you 100% I could watch David every day,all day!!

    Here he is the same age as Elvis was when Elvis died. So... such a tragedy on Elvis’ side that the toll of drugs took on Elvis and his mind/body. Which... alcohol eventually did the same thing to David only many decades later. Yet, to the same end... death due to ‘drugs’ because of loneliness from being superstar idols with huge expectations.
    David met Elvis and David said it scared him. He liked Elvis.. but he could see him in Elvis many years later... lonely and sad... so it scared him and that was one of the factors to leave the touring when he did in 1974. The tours took its toll on David and he wasn’t having fun as he was exhausted.. exhausted from the work and demand ... from the huge, huge fame.
