I loved the way you integrated the Internal family systems therapy concept into your video... brilliant And thankyou. I am honored & grateful to be a student of such a wise teacher
first of all I want to say 'I love you man' you are truly amazing with your honesty, use of language, intelligence and genuinity. I had a thought about your point with will power, it has to do with addictions, we do things that doesn't align with our values for other reasons- ie drug addictions. im 47 and struggling a lot with anger, addictions and weight, I'm trying really hard to study nlp so I can help myself overcome whatever limited beliefs or trauma that causes me be the way I am, your videos helps me a lot. thank you
Thank you for the kind words. Take it a piece at a time. Treat it like a puzzle that will never be complete. As long as you're alive, there will be pieces to find and with each piece you will become more fulfilled and healthier. You've got this.
You're welcome. The NLP journey is an amazing one. It really is about the journey and not so much about the destination. Let me know if I can help you.
Damon, I have a comment regarding values. I remember you mentioning some values like peace, security, love, doesn’t everyone want them? So should someone just look up the common nice values and go with them? Is what makes it different from one person to another how they manifest the values? I would love to hear your thoughts on those. Thank you!
No don't look outside of yourself for your values. This is a big mistake most people are making and don't even realize it. Elicit your own values. Find your values and your words that go to those values. It is very important to do it this way.
Hi Damon I bought the book Transforming your self... I’m in the first chapter. Thank you for the recommendation . What NLP book would you recommend me? I have a friend coming from the USA and she can bring it to me
Hi Damon, I posted this on another of your video, but I figured I would post here since this is a more recent video. Can you do a video on overcoming compulsive eating/binge eating when not hungry, compulsively go shopping for food if none is at home, mostly likely as a result of anxiety and confusion. Thank you.
Hmm, I actually was able to identify my limiting beliefs behind this unhealthy, and there were plenty!! I was able to see how false those beliefs were and identified counter-strategies for each of them, let’s see how my actions demonstrate. So I may not need you to make the video anymore, since you may need to target a specific belief to have it work. Thank you so much for posting those helpful tips!! The ideas and the way you presented them really stick to me! 😍
It's probably too out of context for people if you haven't done a lot of NLP training or you're not specifically working on your self-concept. This video clears up the misunderstandings about values, qualities, and resources for my students quite well probably because of the context they're learning from me in. What was not clear for you? What questions do you have?
That's not something I can teach in one UA-cam video, which is why I have an entire comprehensive training program to show people who to do it. Visit selfconcept.com if you would like more information.
So a value is really a desired emotional experience, i.e., the value of success is really a feeling that comes from a sense of mission accomplished, and that would be a "desired state." Is that right?
I wouldn't label a value as an emotional experience because it's not necessarily but it can certainly contain emotion. A value, as defined by my mentor Steve Andreas, is a generalization about an experience that's important to you. Success itself is a value. It's intangible and abstract, which all values and generalizations are. Don't confuse values and generalizations with states. States are temporary. A value is something you pursue because it's important to you. You value success because you've had successful experiences and you like them so you value it and are motivated to pursue it. Accomplishment is also a value.
@@DamonCart Thank you very much for clarifying, that's very interesting. Going deeper, It does seem to all boil down to self-concept -being "alike" something that's important to me (Quality) Latin "idem" =the same as. The root of the word "identity." Thanks, Damon, I think I get it, at least I hope so.
This is very strange. I was trying to compose a comment. At around 10:00 in you said it for me. “You want to be healthy but don’t want to exercise” This is A HUGE 🚩. I was having a problem trying to explain it. Even with this last free class. I missed it. Then felt like garbage for... I still do. I must address this. This has been happening for to long. I need help.

@@DamonCart Appreciate it
This was a great clarification Damon. My husband and I were just talking about some of these differences the other day. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful.
Awesome video, GREAT information. Thank you. I need to get even more comfortable between Quality and Value.
You're so welcome.
Brilliant ideas and content
Thank you

Anything from Steve and Connirae Andreas is great. You're in good company with those two.
Thank you, still lot to work on
Keep going!

My next step is to identify my values, I have several listed, however they might be superficial ones, will need to challenge them and go deeper.
I replied to your first comment with some videos.
Respect you brother.
Thank you
27:35 Clarity
What a jumble! I wish it were clearer. I'd re-edit and re-shoot this one.

One resource that came up was imagination.
😮😎
That's a good one.
So how do you turn resources into qualities?
