They've gotta add more police and security, this is crazy, folks on the Northside thought crime was only on the south and west side, they've gotta pay more attention and be more vigilant
Since 2001 the CPD has added to its forces several times. In that same period over 4 million violent crimes were reported and no arrests were made in over 68% of the cases reported. In the last 10 years alone only 12% of crimes reported resulted in arrests, which is a record low. CPD has the second largest force in the nation behind New York City and violent crimes continue to rise while arrests rates are at historic lows. Criminals are feeling emboldened and why wouldn't they if the chances of getting arrested are fairly low. There is an insidious political power dynamic at play here and it seems as though some have determined that arresting less equals more crime and more crime scares the entire populace into submitting to the forces promising to change things. I can understand a drop in arrests rates involving violent crimes if it fluctuated year to year but that isn't happening here because they continue to drop. We're being played.

Since 2001 over 4 million crimes excluding non-violent and misdemeanor offenses were reported and no arrests were made in over 68% of those reported. In the last 10 years alone only 12% of crimes reported resulted in arrests. The population in Chicago hasn't changed much since 2001 and CPD has added to their forces several time since. The statistics are deeply troubling, but as a lifelong resident I'm not surprised because it's become a lot clearer in the last 15 that there are some serious power struggles happening within city hall, CPD and the FOP. We're witnessing the unfortunate results of their power dynamics play out in the streets of Chicago. Criminals are feeling emboldened and why would't they when the arrests rates work in their favor. The extreme measures some appear to be taking to achieve their political objectives at the expense of law abiding citizens of Chicago is appalling and disgusting.

What are Republicans doing to fix the crime problem in Chicago. There's a reason why we aren't voting for the alternative here in Chicago and let's just say they've been working hard by doing nothing to force us into changing our minds. If they weren't playing dirty and using disgusting and vile tactics at our expense we'd probably consider a change. Weaponizing crime and public safety until we submit seems to be the name of this game.
