@@kamsm.2556 it’s so embarrassing. i really enjoy building so i am not as effected by gameplay/lack of currently. however, i became more of a builder BECAUSE gameplay lacks so much depth. i had to download multiple mods just to enjoy it. i absolutely agree with satch that it doesn’t even feels like a sims game anymore.
After LGR practically retired from reviewing Sims 4 packs, Satch really is one of the only sim youtubers that are being honest about the content that EA has been releasing. Simyn is another honest reviewer, but the rest are honestly bootlickers

I'm personally partial to how sims 2 did greenhouses. Yes, it was goofy... But it wasn't just walls! You are so right when you say it needs functionality
The idea of the plants having a better vitality and faster growth in the greenhouse would have made it so much better. I wish I had a better reason to build an actual greenhouse in this sims. I’ll just stick to plant boxes on the lawn!
@@kawaiipikafum2530 I think now that everyone is good and pissed off about it modders will probably have a FUNCTIONAL greenhouse soon. That usually does the trick, lol, so don't give up hope

@@kawaiipikafum2530 The difference is if you have seasons pack the plant just become a pile of dirty when change seasons. When they are sheltered they can grow in any season. The only downside is they actually grow a bit slower when sheltered.
@@countrye3013 it was just kind of a backwards approach, making the windows and wall panels individual bb items. Especially considering (and correct me if I'm wrong, I'm going off childhood memories lol) the roofs were much more like actual regular roofs than items

A lot of people are afraid to call out EA? All the Simmers I watch are constantly calling out EA. All the Simmers I see online are constantly calling out EA.... but calling out EA doesn't matter. It's farting in the breeze & they're upwind from it. Calling out asshats all day doesn't matter. You know the saying actions speak louder than fucking words?... Till Simmers put their fucking foot (feet?) down & tell EA to go shit themselves till shit gets better, they'll keep on taking our money & giving us trash. Talk is fucking cheap & doesn't get shit done.

@@Luna-ip4riwell, but I don't think lilsimmsie is dishonest about it either. She said in every kits video that she dislikes kits and thinks they are way to expensive and that she would not buy them if it wasn't her job. She likes building a loot, so it's natural that she is more happy with a build kit than other ones, but she made it really clear that she actually thought the greenhouse kit would be absolut garbage and is therefore happy to see it at least comes with good swatches etc. That is a more positive look on the kit, but it's also very transparent.
That you happen to agree with him does not mean that everyone else is afraid to speak up or that they lie.
@@vorgebrauchschutteln3859 i think lilsimsie has just really excitable personality and her gameplay preferences really affect her reviews, I don’t think she’s exactly being dishonest but Satch offers much more balanced view if you actually want to know whether something is objectively worth the price tag.
Interestingly enough, The Sims 3 did have a greenhouse object that I wish was included in this kit. It was a structure that had water sprinklers on top so it could auto-water plants placed under it. Especially because The Sims 4 already had a sprinkler mechanic, this could've been a nice inclusion...
I could be wrong, but I think the sprinklers from seasons can water a few plants. I only saw it once while someone was playing, and it worked only once (of four gardening boxes, only one gardening box holding four plants were actually watered)

It's a store item no? I remember that using it with the PVZ Sunflower (from the store too), was like cheating because you could get your plants instantly grow.

@@thorasaylor5075 Yes, the sprinklers from Seasons and there are also the vertical planters from Eco-Lifestyle that can be upgraded to have automatic watering and pest control + the hydroponic planters from the same pack, you can unlock with the green-technician career.
It was a premium store item but I loved it...
I just watched lilsimsies videos and it's crazy how drastically different someone's review and comment section can be. It seems like sunshine and rainbows over there for everything EA releases lol

Remmember when in Sims 2 there was special wall type that was just glass wall. Yeah I miss it so much.
Remember when it came with Seasons because of the whole gardening system and wasn't split into different packs just to make more money... Yeah, good times.

Literally had the same exact thoughts on it as you. When I saw the list of items leaked on twitter I knew straight away that Max20's set was hands down better than Maxis' attempt. This kit is just a lack luster clutter kit at best

I don’t care for clutter I prefer things to be functional. I miss in the old Sims games where you you have to water the flowers or they will die. Also trim the hedges. I would like a kit that has a bunch of floor swatches and wallpaper. I would like more tile and stone flooring.
THIS!!! I miss those so much. When there is actually a reason to take care of your garden. Tedious at times yes, but you have something to do rather than imagine you have a garden. It makes the world more alive rather than just it being static. Another thing I like about fauna withering (and eventually dying if you don't take care of them) is you get to buy them again. It's so easy to make money in the Sims 4, and you end rich sims all the time because they have nothing to spend it more with, otherwise you'll just end up a house full of non-functional clutter. My biggest issue with the Sims 4 is that it doesn't have incentives to do anything. Why have friends? It's not like you need to build relationships to advance in your career, like previous sims games did. Why buy a more expensive toilet? You can just level up your handiness skill and upgrade your toilets.
The circular bench would look amazing around a tree!! Wow!
They need to start selling kits like “buy 2 get 1 for free”.

I also don’t understand most of them. Men fashion gives you skirts for men. But I can just remove “men” tag in CaS and boom. Every skirt I have is now available for male characters.
Greenhouse kit is stupid. I though it actually will make plants grow better or faster. I can make wall made of windows without any kits lol.
Yeah, it seems like kits are the new stuff packs. Lots of that should be in other packs. Like they can merge 2-3 kits as a stuff packs or include it in a Game Pack and people would still buy.
I actually thought, back when we were getting gameplay, CAS, and BB kits, that they were eventually going to introduce an option to bundle three kits together for a reduced price (one gameplay, one CAS, and one BB). I might actually be willing to pay $10 for basically the ability to build your own stuff pack. But individual kits? Nah that's such a ripoff.
That'll never happen lol, they're gonna choose whatever makes them the most money.
I dont understand how these kits are not just updates. Like we have game packs, stuff packs, expansion packs and kits for a game that used to cost like 40$. It's absoluely insane.

8:09 You were spot on actually, it was called the Stones Throw Greenhouse, it came with a premade lot and it included the SwiftGro Gardening Station which had a ton of features making your gardening more interesting and effecient. I remember it because I used to see it on my loading screen all the time bc it was one of the images for that simpoint minigame

Edit: They would've been better off giving us those triangular windows. And also a sprinkler system maybe? Idk if we have that or not. Heck maybe even "open" roof window panes would've been cool.

Literally what is the purpose of that thing. Also he didn't show it but the windows come in medium height as well EXCEPT u don't get an open version
The gable thing could have been cool if it had a design on it, but it's basically the same as walls. Like if it had a diagonal sunburst design, or some ornamental thing, it could have been useful for Victorian style houses. I just don't get what it's for or what it has to do with greenhouses.
The gable object definitely seems pointless after seeing the difference in this video. Making it a window would have been genius. Or a design like another view suggested so it adds something DIFFERENT.
Satch's example of the 5 little pots object that you can make yourself with 5 of the individual pots kinda stung too. He's not wrong.

I don’t often comment on UA-cam videos but just wanted to say thank you for the honest reviews. I’m pretty sick of a lot of other channels making excuses for kits.
My money these days goes to Patreons for great CC creators. Going to add that greenhouse CC to my list, thanks for showing it off! At least I’m supporting someone’s efforts and not the crap EA are releasing.
The only reason I might want this kit is for the flooring, walls and windows. The rest is basically the Garden Clutter Kit I expected lmao. Surprised about the fan working though, that's nice. Maybe in a few years, I'll buy it, but for now I also have Max 20's pack and NynaeveDesign's windows so... :)

yeah sims 4 lacks ambition and it just is full of bizarre choices. like for the longest time we had an entire huge observatory for a telescope ONLY which makes no sense but they havent created a working functional "greenhouse" OBJECT? make it make sense. just weird bad choices. bad calls
That's literally traumatising. Thank you for linking the free CC, I'm not going to pay EA for pretty much a couple of new windows (the only nice thing in there.) I'm honestly so glad we have Satch.
Never feel like you're being too negative. You're absolutely correct. EA is throwing us these dumpster fire kits and updates just regularly enough to keep our mods and CC broken. We've spent a fortune on this game and they clearly don't respect the players.
The windows seem like they should have been included in the Industrial Lofts kit...
Also, I've been noticing that most of the time, "new" textures are just ones recycled from older packs. For eg) I was playing around with debug from the Get Famous pack and noticed the debug house roof textures match the ones in Jungle Adventures. They've been recycling content long before Infants and Growing Together. I think they just make content and then EA/Maxis decides to arbitrarily cut them up between packs and kits. It would explain why they all feel so empty and incomplete.
Also playing jungle adventures lately has really pissed me off. I had TS3 World Adventures and OMG it was huge and so much fun! You genuinely had to be engaged and take time to build new skills in order to get through it. They have missed so many opportunities to revamp TS3 content and have chosen....this. I'm sorry but the broken bed item in the basement kit is UGLY...who tf genuinely wants to pay for that???

I do like that flooring! Works for a path, or a patio like space. An outdoor shower!
How tf did this not come with any planters?
I remember how much I fun I had with the greenhouse in sims 2. Unlike this kit, that was a unique feature that came with seasons and I loved that you could grow plants inside anytime regardless of the season. This kit has some nice items but I can still use the windows and objects we already have to build the same thing. I was hoping we could at least use the table for flower arrangement...
I'm literally shocked the fan actually rotates lol. I thought for sure it'd be another static object.

Too bad. I hoped for a real greenhouse because we can make this already. Also disappointing the planting table is not functional. The storage is functional so.. You cán make functional items..
That brick flooring can also be good in a bathroom (outdoor one) kitchen, pool deck, or fountain bottom.
Another really great cc pack is the Cottage Garden Stuff by The Plumbob Society! It's got lots of build buy cc that's got way more variety than this kit and lots of it is functional! It also includes a whole lot of cas stuff, but you can pick and choose which items you want to download if you don't want to get the whole pack. I've had it for years and I definitely recommend it!
Yess, i love it too and the rustic romance stuff is also phenomenal, the cottage garden stuff is how this greenhouse kit should have been, totally agree:)

Your suggestions are genuinely so good fr, I feel like a greenhouse object with a growth buff would be super cool, or maybe it could have other buffs that make produce worth more or maybe you could get more per harvest! also omg, I got that coke the other day it was so nice 🤭
Like always, it could have been so much more. It would have been so cool if you could take cuttings from all the houseplants and then propagate your own little baby plant and gift it to other sims or keep it and watch it grow. Like, overall they can do SO MUCH more with plants. Have sims repot the plants and add fertiliser. Have them talk or sing to the plants, stuff like that. That would add a really interesting aspect to houseplants for people who are obsessed with houseplants (like me).
EA have become incredibly lazy. there’s no creativity or passion in anything they release nowadays.
I commented on your other video yesterday and said that I‘m excited for this kit. When I saw it in the Sims 4 with the preview I realized that it’s just ridiculous. I was about to buy it but I leaned back and just asked myself why I should do that. My game broke after the last update two days ago, my infants are still stretching and for some reason my sims can’t go to sleep, they just take a nap. I’m so mad at EA, it’s just insane how other UA-camrs like lilsimsie hype this shit up. Thank you for being honest Satch, great video as always! You said all the things I was thinking about this shitty kit.

At this point these Kits should just be content made by CC creators to be honest. What if they just bought a CC-pack every month or two months from a creator for a certain amount of money and just implement that in the game. It would literally save them money, it would give creators a great opportunity to have their work really take off and get paid good in return and all us simmers win bc it actually works and looks good lmao.
I do believe they do have a board that says: _"Dear Maxis dont do anything that makes players happy"_
but also I believe they are losing employees

I built a greenhouse in my game months before this kit using mostly Eco Lifestyle things. It had two parts to it: a room for plants (and inside or under a roof, they grow as sheltered), and the second room was for the crickets and things. Worked perfectly fine like the greenhouse in Sims 2--minus the sprinklers they made specifically for the greenhouse. My sims just went in and watered them like usual. No big deal. To be honest, I'd love to just add the cool stuff from the free CC kit and make it look way better than what EA is charging $4.99 (US) for. Seeing all that it comes with, it seems Greenhouse Haven is an unnecessary kit with a working fan.
Ugh. I was really looking forward to this one! I wanted the grow lights, the stacked seedling shelves, planter boxes, heat mat (like little versions of the ones you can craft that auto water, etc.) and the walls, windows, roof, and arches in glass and plastic. The fan and bags of soil are what I wanted though. Boo.
I'll stick with my Orjanic cc to make my greenhouse and the stuff I already have from the game.

That kit should have been a minor refresh of Seasons.
The end panels of ALL glass roofs should be transparent by default.
There is a third square plant box. You need to build it yourself in the wood work table. It looks like a rougher version of one from Werewolves.
You greatly reinforce my resolve to NOT get that kit. It's just not worth the price. It's not even worth $0.01.
That CC circular bench can obviously be placed around any tree or lamp post. It's shape screams for that use. That CC have more stuff and value than that kit.

if a greenhouse is just a house with windows everywhere and a glass roof, you dont need this pack to build one. You can just use the base game and put planter boxes inside the same way smh…

I love your videos. Can’t say it enough. And I really like that you give your personal opinion on what they should include or how they should have done things as I always agree and on contents that I have played I’ve thought the same or similar. They really should listen to you as you’d improve it. I also wish they’d genuinely ask people who play the game on their opinions before releasing, and I mean all if not the majority. Send out an email to simmers and ask what they think and if they have things to add. Anyway, another great video, thanks for sharing!
Gardening is one of Seasons' major features. If they'd made the items functional, it would be available for $5. Coding the items to only work for people with Seasons (like the infant playmat and Growing Together) would've required more devs. As always, EA chose what would turn the biggest profit. It's much cheaper to create pretty props and people interested in gardening have to pay more than $5.
One of the window swatches is a screen. I saw it on another UA-cam channel, so you could make screen in porches. 😊

This is the problem with ea now, nothing they release adds depth. Even expansion packs I feel are so lacking in adding interesting gameplay. They’re basically at this point asking people to pay for decorations and meaningless interactions. There’s no meaning behind anything. What you said at the end was so spot on about it being passionless

I 100% agree with you. With the latest packs, I always look for cc and mods that are similar and you can find them very easily. They are for free, they are often better and not broken moders and cc creators really are the backbone of the Sims community. Sometimes I wish Sims was still available on actually CD-ROM because I dearly wish to resell some of the packs I hardly ever use or are too broken to play and just take up space on my laptop.

I don’t care what anybody says, I’m stupidly excited about the greenhouse kit just because of the screened version of the windows. Where I live if you have a porch, it better be screened!
Today I installed a custom food mod and it all comes served on different shaped plates, or cake stands, you can serve a gingerbread house, or a fruit assortment, and I LOVE it.
Then I realized how LAZY and uninspiring the sims 4 is without mods. Nope, white plates. Just the same for every dish. For almost 10 years.
Everything is starting to become unacceptable.
U could create Kits called ,,The boredom Kit“ and the ,,Loading screen extender Kit“ and people would still defend and buy it!
If you make a side by side, making a green house without the kit, like we've been doing, next to the new kit, you'd see there is no need to buy the kit.

If the grow lights were UV lights and added game play, like improved plant quality, basement grow rooms...420, but placing it over doorways as anti vampire builds.... pro plant sims. Tanning room? Seasonal adjustment disorder moodlet?
Sometimes I feel like EA just likes to see what modders and CC creators do then take that content, make it official, but do it worse than the cc creators and modders who created it in the first place.

Can we also mention why they wouldn’t do the greenhouse windows for ALL wall heights too?? I went to add a green house to my existing lot that had medium wall height and was so disappointed they weren’t there? It looked so strange that I didn’t end up adding it. I would’ve preferred that than an item clustering 5 small plants that I could’ve done myself like you said.

8:33 For what it's worth, there's actually a small square box with the outdoor retreat expansion pack. I think it's only available through crafting though.

that garden pack is the first CC object set that I really like! I might buy it. Always make gardens for my legacies (including not so berry) and 100 baby challenge.

Thanks for linking the CC set. I purchased the kit and I do like it, but the CC set is beautiful. The item description for the greenhouse lamp does specify that it helps plants grow faster, so we'll see I guess.
