That pin is to release the gunk accumulated at the nozzle tips or the pressure gun tip. It's very essential to have. After some couple of usage, due to hard water or any type of water left over,gradually corrodes the tip and blocks it. Pin comes in handy to unblock during times.
Always remember to turn the water on before you start the engine. Also, spray the nozzle to get all the air out of the system. Otherwise, you will damage the pump. To start the engine easy, open the nozzle to release the pressure. Also, never run the engine more then 45 sec. with the nozzle off. The pump will over heat.

I have the same pressure washer, myself it’s a good product and the Honda motors are really reliable. The little metal rod is for clearing debris out of the nozzles.
Hey, Christy here from Atlanta, GA. Just bought one of these too. Haven’t used yet, because I had to search for a video that told me how to attach the hoses. None of the literature gave a descript enough direct on this, which (embarrassingly) almost had me in tears with frustration. So, THANK YOU. Dewalt was very presumptuous and rather lazy on those manuals, quick setup, user pamphlet. I mean, like that paper-clipish type lollipop metal piece you referenced. And my water hose attached itself perfectly to another male port (around the corner) from where it obviously goes. Lol Anyways, the output by this tool does look quite impressive from your video. Can’t wait to tackle mine. Unfortunately, it’s now raining so, I will have to wait yet another day before I get to tackle our very long, winding driveway. Thanks so much for the video post. You completely saved me.
Okay, so, I did have the garden hose in the right spot. I was trying to set up my high pressure hose to that regulator spot. Think the rain stopped. Night :)
Just a suggestion.... Never run it without water connected. Will overheat the pump. Also, for the same reason, you shouldn't run the engine for more than 60 sec without water flowing from the tip. Check out the manual. These rules are outlined in there. Cheers.
I have the 3300 and it’s Fantastic! With a 15” surround washer (bought separately) Amazing Quality! Had oil in the engine as well but I’m guessing it was a small amount for ppl that jump the gun and start it up without reading the instructions first. Everything was self explanatory and easy to use. Love the purchase. HD for $419.00 with a $30.00 off coupon 👍
P.S Only “negative comment “ that I have is that the gas tank is small and if you have a big project expect to fill up multiple times. Other than that...It’s Perfect for the price and power
The thin wire is to declog the tips when they clog up. For use on the surface cleaner as well. I keep mine taped on the air filter housing so i never misplace it. Its a declogger
Kind of funny seeing you put together pressure washer and using the pressure washer when you really don’t know much about them at all. You’re funny guy.
I own it and love it, put over 40 hours on it, no issues! I also bought a small hour/rpm meter to time oil changes ( maintenance), for the engine and the pump oil plus overall hours on the whole machine. Good video! I got the hour meter ( programmable) off of Amazon.
Adrian Trejo - MUST READ THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY!!!! What ISN’T in the directions is the battery inside has a protective film over it you need to remove so the unit powers up once installed. You normally get a little tab poking out to tell you to pull it, this unit is hidden inside under the battery cover. I thought I had to start the machine and have the engine run to get power- DUH! Also, with this Machine, I change the oil at 40 hours, NOT 100 hrs like Honda suggests, that’s just too long and too much carbon in the oil rubbing on the internals for my liking. I built racing engines, so that experience carried over. I change the pump oil (15w-40 Karcher Synthetic- off Amazon) at 40 hours as well. With a $225 price tag on the exact pump on this machine, I’m not taking chances with old oil, just like the engine. With the gauge I use ( see link ), It can be reset to 0 ( zero ) after I perform service. I change the spark plug at 80 hours. So far no issues at 86.7 hours, and I don’t stay off the gun ( keep the water moving) long. When the thermal protection valve opens, pump is hot, and it sprays water, it really kills the pump oil viscosity Protection, hence, I change it at 40 hours. Depending on your usage, adjust accordingly. Good Luck! Ask any more ?’s if you need to.....
MARIBEL LIZARDO It’s a four stroke engine not a 2 cycle. Four stokes are used for their power and low gas consumption. The engine is a Honda GX200, feel free to look it up! It’s used on so many power washing applications it’s pretty much become the industry standard. It uses 93 octane gasoline and four stroke 30w non-detergent oil in the engine, and special oil in the pump you can buy at Home Depot or off of Amazon. I hope this helps you. I change the oil in my machine weekly or every 35 hours to keep it in top condition!
Choke is to the left and and it has pictures one the frame telling you how to start it. It says to hold down the lever for 30 seconds before you start.
Me too but I can’t work the regulator. It says on the cap to push down and turn but it is down. I can pull the cover up but if I release it it falls back down. I don’t want to put channel locks on it because the black cap/cover is plastic. I’m not weak and am turn real hard but I can’t turn it counter clockwise at all. Am I doing something wrong? Help.
man when you lifted the washer out of the truck the small amount of oil that was in the pump reached the stick and went back into the motor when you leveled it. the small amount of oil was just to keep gears lubricated until purchase.

I understand that most guys don't read all the instructions BUT--if you are going to make an instructional video you might actually read the instructions. By the way--the DeWalt instructions aren't all that good. And, for some reason they sent a 473 ml bottle of engine oil for an engine with 600 ml capacity.
-Had no idea what the clear plastic tube was for or where it connects. Thanks for showing where it connects and what it's for (soap dispensing). There's absolutely NOTHING in the manual about it. Also had to guess that the black plug opposite the oil dip stick is the oil drain plug. Who the heck is in charge of DeWalt's manuals --- Homer Simpson?
Not sure if you know . The DeWalt brand pressure washers and Simpson pressure washers are the same with the same components on the same production lines . Only difference is the paint . I own the 3600 psi which is probably the same . If yours came with a 1/4 inch hose you may want to get a 3/8 along with the proper fittings . Not sure why they sell the DeWault with 1/4 in hose and the same Simpson with 3/8 hoses and fittings . The 1/4 is harder on the pump motor from what I understand .

I just picked this up last week on clearance at Home Depot (discontinued model) for $549.00 excited to use it next week. They had 3 of them at every HD by me. A worker told me they might mark it down again as low as 75% off (originally $629.99)
I feel your frustration - and laughed out loud - at your dipstick comment. That thing is so sensitive to the tiniest fraction of a degree off centre it's ridiculous. I've had difficult lids to screw back on before but that thing felt like being tied to an anthill and having your ears smeared with strawberry jam!

Man I have been reading tons of reviews and it is troubling some of the issues that have been arising with this unit, not really the Honda engine which is a plus but the pump system and getting it started. I really on the fence about purchasing this unit and it does have a hefty price tag.
hey now that you turned the unloader knob you should go get a pressure gauge from northern tool and reset the pressure to factory setting and never adjusted loader the engine speed not the unloader
What is the height of it without handle ? From bottom of the wheels to the top of the tank ?(if that is the highest ponint) I’m limited with space , wanna see if it will fit . Thank you
From the ground ( properly inflated tires) to the top of the gas tank lid ( highest point ) is 20.5”. With the handle removed ( at the joint where they connect) it stands 12”. The 2 piece handle is not really bent to perfection where you can remove it every day. Although it has bolts with a hand tightening but ( plastic cap ) to appear as a quick assembly, on mine, the tubes ( handles ) are not bent squarely ( proper line up ) to facilitate taking it apart and assembling it over and over again. I had to bend and re-flare my tubing just to assemble it the first time. After that disaster of an ordeal, I wasn’t about to tear it apart again. I haul mine in the trunk of an Accord with out issues.
It’s because they test them from the factory and also they leave a little in there for shipping. At some point yours tilted enough to allow oil to pass by and thus, causing oil to get into the head or piston. It’s no problem as long as once that burnt off it didn’t continue to smoke.
When you use soap and that soap tube, do you start the washer without hooking it up to a water source and just use the soap, or do you hook up the water source to the washer while the soap is being used?
It is normal, it is from the oil they put in it from the factory for testing and also to keep things lubricated. I imagine it wasn’t kept up right the hole time and some slipped past. Causing it to burn off in the cylinder or head. Not a problem, unless it continues to smoke!

Where do you store that thing? My current washer is vertical and stores the wands in the vertical. I am thinking of buying the Stanley version of this but that long ass handle makes it quite obtrusive. Can you reverse the handle?
NOOOOOOO! You started it without the water on!? That is not the way of the pressure-cleaner Jedi. You must feel the water FLOW through the machine - water is the way! FIRST attach the water before starting engine. THEN when shutting down, turn engine off and turn WATER OFF LAST. Water must FLOOOOOOW - if you stop spraying for 2 minutes - turn off the engine. Water is the FIRST and LAST and FLOW. This is the way!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have an electric, which is inadequate as it takes all day to do what this can do in an hour. But I can’t stand all this. I suppose if you already have a gas lawn mower, and are comfortable around old car and motorcycle engines etc., it’s no problem. I still have this model as my first choice if I take the plunge in 2021. But man, I don’t even want to have a gas can sitting around let alone a big engine thing.
I just bought a used one for $60, put a spark plug in and sprayed some cleaner in the carb, it fired up, so I think it just needs a carb. But the years have definitely made it an ugly s.o.b. Ugly.

They don’t ship bone dry. They add a little to keep things slightly lubricated. They remaining oil to fill up completely is what’s in the bag for you.

You could try pre-soaking stains like that with a cleaner/degreaser. Purple power works well, it is readily available, and it is pretty affordable.

Although it has bolts with a hand tightening but ( plastic cap ) to appear as a quick assembly, on mine, the tubes ( handles ) are not bent squarely ( proper line up ) to facilitate taking it apart and assembling it over and over again. I had to bend and re-flare my tubing just to assemble it the first time. After that disaster of an ordeal, I wasn’t about to tear it apart again. I haul mine in the trunk of an Accord with out issues.
For cleaning those nozzles, that was in the bag with it.

It’s because they test them from the factory and also they leave a little in there for shipping. At some point yours tilted enough to allow oil to pass by and thus, causing oil to get into the head or piston. It’s no problem as long as once that burnt off it didn’t continue to smoke.
What is the choke on/off used for?
you are not supposed to start the machine without having water going through it aren't you ?
FYI I have one when the time comes to change spark plug remove muffler before the new one goes in. Or you will be looking for a heli coil insert!

When you use soap and that soap tube, do you start the washer without hooking it up to a water source and just use the soap, or do you hook up the water source to the washer while the soap is being used?
Always hook up the water line to the pump first and purge the air out of the pump with the wand.

I just purchased the same model but 3600psi, when I first started it the pressure washer started smoking a little, is that normal?
It is normal, it is from the oil they put in it from the factory for testing and also to keep things lubricated. I imagine it wasn’t kept up right the hole time and some slipped past. Causing it to burn off in the cylinder or head. Not a problem, unless it continues to smoke!

I purchased the 4000 pSI but i noticed that the black plug is missing. Would i be able to use it while it is having the red plug on it or ?
You need the black plug because it’s vented. The red plug is for shipping.
Me too but I can’t work the regulator. It says on the cap to push down and turn but it is down. I can pull the cover up but if I release it it falls back down. I don’t want to put channel locks on it because the black cap/cover is plastic. I’m not weak and am turn real hard but I can’t turn it counter clockwise at all. Am I doing something wrong? Help.

U need to use the black tip. Its only for soap and theres very low pressure with the black soap tip aa well

My current washer is vertical and stores the wands in the vertical.
I am thinking of buying the Stanley version of this but that long ass handle makes it quite obtrusive.

That is not a primer! It is the fuel on/off valve.

NOOOOOOO! You started it without the water on!? That is not the way of the pressure-cleaner Jedi. You must feel the water FLOW through the machine - water is the way! FIRST attach the water before starting engine. THEN when shutting down, turn engine off and turn WATER OFF LAST. Water must FLOOOOOOW - if you stop spraying for 2 minutes - turn off the engine. Water is the FIRST and LAST and FLOW. This is the way!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have an electric, which is inadequate as it takes all day to do what this can do in an hour. But I can’t stand all this. I suppose if you already have a gas lawn mower, and are comfortable around old car and motorcycle engines etc., it’s no problem. I still have this model as my first choice if I take the plunge in 2021. But man, I don’t even want to have a gas can sitting around let alone a big engine thing.
The surface cleaner is the crapiest ever build is not commercial keep that in mind mine broke the middle seals after a second home
I just bought a used one for $60, put a spark plug in and sprayed some cleaner in the carb, it fired up, so I think it just needs a carb.
But the years have definitely made it an ugly s.o.b. Ugly.
