Very helpful! I have a Nest=E and the configuration didn't allow me to run the fan without it being in cool or heat mode. So I enable the fan and ran it on cool mode... but I set the thermostat temperature higher than the room temperature. That allows the fan to run while not actually cooling. Thank you tons!

Reason 6 - malfunctioning electronic thermostat. Mine decided to save electricity by not running the fan while still running the Compressor. There was a 2 inch diameter coating of ice at the compressor. Freon R22 was at normal pressures. No leaks. I went back to the the original mercury thermostat and its working fine so far.

The A Coil can be too dirty as well. He did not mention that but it needs to be cleaned periodically.

What a great job for income if you had as much acknowledge as this cat. Right now as a handyman I be involved with this home owner with two out side units. I doubt the home be any more than 1800 sq feet. And the units are both rather old. Boy whoever chose the game plan for central air for this home really needs to go back to school and not cheat on the final testing for certification

hey customers.... a lot of the time it is freon because the manufacturers are making junk nowadays thanks to Goodman. You had higher-end companies like Carrier and Trane Lenox who manufactured a decent product and then Goodman came along and put a hit on the sales of these bigger companies by making low quality HVAC equipment with cheaper, inferior parts made in Mexico where people get paid an awful wage.So the better companies had to come down to the level of quality as the Good Men because they were losing.sales. I use to install Bryant. At one point the leaking of brand new evaporator coils ( CD5AXA) would leak with in a year of installation. I could keep going on and on but I will say one thing if any of you out there have a old G.E. condensing unit or heat pump keep them. they were built like a brick shithouse as well as thee old York Champion heat pumps. I live in Lower Bucks Co., Pa. I will bet there are many Bensalem homeowners who still have their 40+ year old GE's. My father had a 35 year old Chrysler a.c. unit. it was still working when he decided to change it over to a Kenmore which lasted another 25 years.
