I grew up singing to the Carpenters -Karen had this depth/soul that was so awesome to try to match - she made it okay to have a lot of soul in your singing voice. Every sha la la still shines.
My grandma didnt want me to hear music, so i put de carpenters record with the volume really slow and sang every song with karen, haha. I agree. Every sha la la la still shines!

I just cannot sing; a huge disappointment in my life. But, I discovered that when I sing out along with Karen, I can sing actually in tune. Only Karen, so she will always be my muse and song angel. She continues to bring me closer to some divine mystery with her sweet, intimate voice.

@@cecile862 That's so interesting! I wonder what it was about her particular voice - maybe because it was so clear/pure with a lot of soul/feeling that resonated with you and allowed you to sing in tune.
@@sandyw1891 It's a mystery, it is. My voice is quite deep, she has those wonderfully bell like lower notes. Perhaps that is my natural pitch finding a comfortable place? Her vibrato is amazing; Joan Baez has a similar quality in her unique and equally angelic voice.
The timing and hold of her vowel sounds?
I really don't know, but I'm very grateful that when I'm alone I can sing out loud and free with Karen 😊❤😊

It's so sad that however beautiful and talented a person can be the voice inside can just take everything over and destroy an individual. She suffered so much pain and heartache in her life yet she was so beautiful and probably has a voice that will never be equalled. I hope she's in heaven finally realising what an impact she made on this word and will probably still be doing in 100+ years. RIP Karen.

One of the best singers of all time in any genre. This is not only my opinion but two of musics finest. Paul McCartney has said that she had "the best female voice in the world: melodic, tuneful and distinctive". She has been called "one of the greatest voices of our lifetime" by Elton John. Can't believe its been over 40 years since she passed.
You also have to add John Lennon saying "a lovely voice, luv" to Karen as he passed by. She was the greatest female singer and her voice sounded like silk"
