    As a lonely kid growing up in the 70's, Karen's voice and Richard's beautiful arrangement of melodies captured to the core the melancholy I felt as a teenager. Their music still hits me deep emotionally.

    I love her voice eversince i was a kid my mom would play carpenters music and she sings it to us.My mom even named all of us her 3 daughters with Karen in our names.So Karen Carpenter became my favorite singer of all times.I felt sad that she passed away at a very young age of 30 at the peek of her career as a very good singer,performer and song writer like her brother Richard Carpenter.But her music lives on for all generations to come.Thank you so much Carpenters for the music you gave us to enjoy and to cherish in our hearts forever.I wrote this as a tribute to my favorite singer of all times Karen Carpenter gone too soon but will be remembered in our hearts and minds forever.

    My college English teacher used sneak in a bulky record player to the class and taught us the Carpenter songs. That was in the 80's, when China just opened its door to the Western world. Young people like me were all so earnestly embracing Western culture. Those are the favorite moments of my confused youth years in my memory.

    Dear Karen,
    Thank you for sharing your beautiful voice with us. Your happiest songs brought us joy, your saddest, a river of tears. When you smiled, your smile became our smile, when your health was failing, your pain became our pain. You were always there for us during dark times. When you died a part of us died too.
    You struggled with finding love & happiness, you were not alone.
    You left us to join the Angels. Through your songs you will remain in our hearts forever.🦋
    A Dedication To The Late Karen Carpenter. (The Carpenters)

    Okay folks so I'm now 47 and I'm still a metal head, gothic rocker, industrial head, punk, black metal, and anything dark as shit fan but I was raised as a kid listening the Carpenters as my mom loved this. So this was and still stuck in my head and soul and will always have a place in my heart and when I listen to these classic songs it breaks me and a part of my soul just softs my heart and gives me peace and relaxes me as crazy as that may sound but it feels great. Every time I hear Karens voice it just brings back good memories of me growing up especially with my mom doing her thing and raising us brothers. Basically,.....well fuck it...I just like this music and it feels good to this very day. Love you Karen, Mom and Dad! A++ Thumbs Up!!! Hell Yeah!

      @@mariawinter2535 Nice way to describe her! I remember listening to her when her first songs came out, being drawn to something undefinable in that voice which made me listen to every syllable in the melody. I wondered who was she in a time when there was no internet. I didn’t even have a tv so I couldn’t see her. Years later I learned of the terrible tragedy that ended her life, with her not knowing how beautiful she really was. I will always adore her.

    • @mariawinter2535
      @mariawinter2535 2 роки тому +3

      @@Chopin1397 yes her story is tragic. One has to wonder how it is that someone as accomplished & adored, could possibly have such low self esteem in regards to her own body or what in her life was so out of control that she felt starvation was a way to have control over something in her life. I've been around mental health for 15+ years....as a supervisor in private sector & as intake for state facility. Most cases have a self-esteem & / or control issue. What happened to her brother?

    • @Chopin1397
      @Chopin1397 2 роки тому +13

      @@mariawinter2535 Her brother is still around but his music career pretty much nose dived after Karen. Years ago I saw a documentary in which he said anorexia was almost unknown in those days so the family had no idea how to deal with her disease that plagued her throughout her short life. Her death brought it to public attention. He said something else that bewilders me to this day. She had taken up drums at an early stage and when they were attempting to make a name for themselves she was just the drummer in the band. Later when her songs were shooting to the top she still saw herself as a drummer who just happened to sing! It seemed she was unable to accept what some people call the greatest voice in all of music history. I still feel deep sadness when I remember hearing this so long ago. It makes me long to take her in my arms and tell her how much we love her. But I realize it would have done no good because she lived long enough to receive worldwide adulation but it didn’t save her from her disease.

    The song “Goodbye to love” has been strumming in my head since a few days into 2023. I’m a spiritual person and believe in ‘signs’ from the universe and our loved ones. So I did a search on Karen Carpenter today and realized that on February 4, 2023 will mark 40 years since her unexpectedly, sad, tragic passing. Now I know why that song has been playing over and over in my head.
    In February, 1983 I was 19 years old and four months away from our wedding day. I was driving home from a dress fitting when I heard on the radio that she was gone. The world lost a beautiful soul that day. There have been many female singers since then that are quite talented. But Karen’s voice was a national treasure. Her vocals were so smooth. So much talent lost.
    May she be resting in peace.

    Karen Carpenter has the greatest voice I have ever heard. I agree with those that call her the greatest "blues" singer as there was a tragic nuance to every note
    she sung......but she and Richard came around when I was a teenager and dealing with my own issues..... I could escape into a different world with every song shoe sung.
    Richard was a great arranger and worked to perfect every song of the Carpenters ..... and I shall remember them always as The Carpenters.

      Please, if your not right with JESUS
      already...
      Get right with him as time is coming to an end.
      I wish you the world if indeed that's what you want...
      But more than that, I wish you to get closer to JESUS our GRACIOUS SAVIOUR.
      Take care either way.

    I'm 06' ㅡ
    I used to hear some of the songs because of my foreigner grandma (할머니) and the first english song that I memories is "Top of the world" at first I don't understand the lyrics since I don't really speak english but when I get older I was amazed how lovely the song is.
