My skates come on Sunday. After my fiancé’s passing I’ve been really depressed. Ive gained so much weight and feeling ashamed. I’ve always liked skating so hopefully this gets me moving. Maybe I’ll even make some friends. I know if I keep myself busy. I will be able to clear myself of this mental fog and start living again. Thank you for the inspiration.

@@I-sjassa yes I do 3 days a week. Tuesday and Thursday are my bass and guitar practice. Saturday and Sunday I pick one or do an art activity.(I make rugs) It’s been fun. I have a skate party coming up in March. I’m hoping that by then I can smooth out my transitions. The weather is getting better in Chicago. I plan to switch my wheel for outdoor wheels soon. 👍🏾❤️

I'm practicing at home. First on the carpeted floor, then I tried the wooden floor, and I felt like I was sent to another world. Scary!! I made it to the rough tiled floors. Thank God for the walls! But I am glad atleast I made it to the tiled floor.

Beautiful progression Camilia! I skated a lot as a kid, then several years into adulthood I got into roller blading. That was a looooggg time ago and now I just got my first pair of quad skates. First time quad skating outdoors but I will get the hang again at 53. This is great motivation! Keep rolling sis!

I loved skating in the 70s and 80s. And just bought a pair of moxi rainbows to learn in. Im 55
When I was a kid I just put them on and did it.
But this time around, I'm concerned about falling. So im process of buying protection Especially for the hips, and tailbone (which is very pronounced).
I've bought skates for my grandchildren (10-13 yrs) and my 35 year old daughter. So it'll be fun learning together.

This is so inspiring! Thank you for recording your journey ❤ I’m getting my first pair of skates for my birthday this month and I can’t wait! I love how there are so many skating communities and roller rinks in the US. Annoyingly, I live in one of the busiest cities in the world (London) and if it wasn’t for Usher bringing flippers over here, there would be no rinks nearby! I’m struggling to find any communities but hope I can find some outdoor spaces to practice in or meet people at the rink.

🛼🩵 Your progression throughout the video was really cool to watch. I learned to skate when I was very young and can’t even remember how long it took me to get good but I still have so much to learn when it comes to the dancing on skates.

I think I'm late, but eh... anyways! I started skating again. I just received my skates three days ago. After pandemic struck, I lost all of my skills due to having to stay at home, and not being able to go outside and skate with my friends. I was in 7th grade almost in grade 8 when school announced that there'll be 2 weeks off of school due to some kind of virus, but damn it's been 4-5 years and I'm already in senior high school(11th grade). I'm back at it again but I have to work my way up to be able to skate like I used to before, I miss transitioning and spinning without having to fall on my butt and embarrass myself in front of strangers. Your video inspired me to start practicing again because I was starting to lose motivation that I wouldn't be good like my younger self again. Thank you so much, again. This video made me motivated and learn all the skills that I used to be good at!

I just got back on skates after 25 years!! Day 3 and I feel like I never left lol. Still a little wobbly but actually feeling like the 16 year old again!

It takes a lot of practicing and bending your knees lol . I think the lesson I took in the beginning helped me a lot ☺️
I’m buying skates soon I’m so nervous and I can’t wait to fail and try again. Also any more tips on learning should I go to class first?
I went to a class just to feel more confident, but you can definitely just follow beginners tutorials on UA-cam . I think it’s very important practicing bending your knees and how to fall safely. 😊 Good luck , you’re gonna love it! Don’t forget to film your progress .
