I’ve tried when I was little and never really tried again. Now at almost 30 I’m learning how to rollerblade... some people laugh. I think is empowering I learn something that for a lot of people is basic, or even stupid. It’s never too late to learn something new and have fun!!!
That's the magic of the sport. The task is sometimes challenging, but when you get it, the feeling of accomplishment is so rewarding. Well done for trying!!
Bought my roller skates. I had started many years ago, but fell off as I started to learn. Got my own skates and on it again. It's soooo fun and damn didn't realize how many muscles you used just to keep yourself from falling 🤣😍
I’m 39 now. I started when I was 14 and use to do it every weekend. Family thinks I’m mad for trying it again as an old man. This was an amazingly fun video! Thank you!
Same here. Im 39 and im starting. 2 days ago I had an accident. I laughed and did my rout ready before I went cleaning the blood out. Now it hurts a bit but I'm looking forward to put my inline skates again and go for it. I'm not giving up. Have fun man.
It's great that you're telling this story. I think it could inspire a lot of people to get started! My story is kind of similar. I need to get spending more time on the blades!
You're basically explained my experience so far. I skated a long time ago as a kid. At 36 I wanted to do something while learning a new skill while Covid-19 is still a thing. I was going to get a OneWheel but settled on inline skates. Mostly because it's less expensive and that its something familiar. Also because I can learn new things. Right now I'm focusing on stopping. Almost got a good T stop going. I'm having a blast skating around town with my favorite playlists. It's a great stress reliever. It's also funny seeing people's reactions for its something most people don't do. I can't wait to learn more.
I started 3 weeks ago, I'm 39 and I hope I can start going to explore the city in a somewhat proficient way by the end of this year, I know it's hard but part of the charm is in the challenge.
You'll be out on the streets in no time. As I've said though make sure you have a confident stop before venturing too far. It doesn't have to be perfect but good enough to keep you safe. Good luck!
Start with one-side skating. Push with one leg only and make sure that you glide on another one with proper ankle, knee and wheels position. You can even hold your knee with hand so it stays above the front part of the boot. Try to make longer glides each training. Do it for two weeks at least. Meanwhile, at home on a carpet or outside on the grass practise sideway steps over an obstacle. Mind the proper legs position and vertically aligned wheels. Ideally, step over the cycling helmet, but you can start with a wooden stick. This will prepare you for proper strides and glides, so you'll learn tricks faster and, more importantly, don't have to re-learn to skate properly.
I got my first pair of roller blades on the 6th of January. My 60th Birthday. Most of my practice has just been up and down the hallway. I went out to the park for the 3rd time today. I noticed by placing a tripod on the floor with my camera my skate wheels are pointing in a pyramid shape. Any advice on how I can keep the wheels a perfect virtical ? Thanks Tony. Liverpool.
@@l.f.cliverpoolfilmclub4526 What skates do you have? If you have "fitness" skates with soft boot, it will take more time. More time to follow (not my actually) advise in the previous comment. That will help you to condition feet and activate neuro-muscular connectivity, so your wheels stay vertical and point forward. But again: depending on where are you skating, "pyramid" positioned wheels may lead to higher risk, God Forbid, of injury: when the skate encounters small rock or wooden stick, the skates (especially on soft boot) may twist the ankle or put the skated out of balance. You can rollback to the beginning, but here is what I am talking about: ua-cam.com/video/jL3WEi0p5TA/v-deo.html
It's very encouraging to see how much you can learn, even as an adult, if only you practice with dedication. Your stance and balance look like you've been skating since early childhood. Getting started on quality skates also was a good approach. My first pair was so crappy that I almost lost interest. Luckily not for too long though :D
Thank you. People often ask me what skates they should get as a beginner. Although its hard to recommend a specific pair I would always encourage them not to buy just a cheap pair. You are right that a decent pair of skates can make learning alot better.
I'm 33 and just started skating this week - I used to skate a bit in my early teens, but its been at least 15 years since I strapped on a pair of inline skates. I've had my new skates for 2 days now, and I'm a bit more shaky than I thought I'd be - stuff I could do without thinking as a kid now seem more difficult and scary (turning around to go backwards in motion, certain stops, little jumps, skating from one surface onto another ie/ tarmac to gravel). But I'm full of enthusiasm to get better, and I plan to go out every day on my street until I feel more confident. Your videos are an inspiration man, thank you!
I sincerely appreciate you sharing your experience. I skated and really, really enjoyed it as a kid, and as age 30 I was wondering if it’s too old to start again. Seeing you start learning skates at 37 and your progression really inspired me to pick up the hobby again. Thank you! I just ordered some skates and will be receiving them next week.
I am 47and starting , like you said your stoping tutorial video is how I found you , nice job mate all the best keep doing videos and ride the streets , it is indeed tons of fun
Just watched this video a second (or even a third time?!). I just want to express my appreciation for what you are doing! You (and many others) have been an inspiration for me last year to buy new inline skates after more than 15 yrs without skating. A had a little experience skating when I was in my teens, but not much. Now I just bought a second pair: the FR1 Deluxe - finally! I already ordered a pair earlier this year, but that was one size down and unfortunately the bigger size has been sold out. Happy skating and love from Germany to you all!
Great video, Dude! Your's was the first UK channel I think I visited and I'm glad I found it. Like you, I was amazed at how city skaters could move; until that point I'd always found getting from A - B on my skates very difficult on UK roads and paths, and always confined myself to designated, generally smooth, areas. It was channels such as your own that compelled me to do more and really get a grip! Well done. Oh, and your wife shares the same opinion of skating as my own; her skates have been gathering dust in our garage for a decade!
omg this is an amazing video. I am 35 y/o and am going to dive into inline skating for exactly the same reasons you did. Thank you for sharing this experience.
Awesome video. I’m 28 and started skating 5 months ago and love it! Everytime I put my skates on, I feel like I’m home no matter where I’m at. It’s never too late to begin and it’s amazing how much you can grow when you challenge yourself. Please keep creating content and continuing to inspire 👌🏼
I also bought my first inline roller at 37. I m learning by myself, but it takes quite a while before I feel confident enough to go around Paris!thanks for sharing your experience!
@@whittyskater thanks for your reply. You'd love skating here!anyway, you're inspiring to me, since we both started "late". I just need more and more practice, until I feel confident enough to experience new routes. It's a very challenging sport. Let's keep up the training!
Well done !! Great video , I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again generally the roads and paths in this country outside of London don’t lend themselves to skating smoothly, that said you make it look easy ! Keep the videos coming 👍🏼
Started 4 years ago at 60 lol, practising your techniques now :-) doing 20 to 30 k's in one flow around Brissie, Australia. Had a few stacks here and there but absolutely worth it . Im using Twisiter, 110 triskates. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Im trying to find a female skating buddy here but most people my age are in slow motion lol and dont skate :-)
Very good video, as always. I started the same way 4years ago and on the same excellent Seba skates. I found as considerably older than you, learning takes far longer your much more advanced in techniques than I. I started my own skate group in 2016, about 80 members now, L. A. SKATERS, in Littlehampton. Roll on 👍.
Was pretty happy to hear you started at age 37 and to read all the comments here: gives me some confidence getting back into it at nearly 49 after 15+ years away. I learned ice skating back when I was 21/22 and that lead me to rollerblading back in the mid-90s. Eventually used to commute 5 miles along country lanes each day to work, but before that lived in Leeds and London and for 2-3 years used to rollerblade around both. At age 30 I got a pro instructor to get my ice skating up to a decent standard and could do most stuff on ice, backwards crossovers, switching forward to backward without thinking about it much, hockey stops, fast lateral moves and spins, the works. But not done either ice nor inline skating in 15 years. Recently splashed out on a decent pair of Bauer Vapor ice hockey skates properly fitted for my feet at a specialist hockey store in Sheffield a month or so ago and was appalled by how shite I am on the ice after so long! Can't even go backwards in a straight line with confidence any more, one-footed work very shaky and unstable. MASSIVELY disheartening. Last week I found out my local ice rink (in Scotland) closes May til late August too. Baffling. So I have ALSO just splashed out on a pair of Mission Inhaler WM01 inlines and figured I'll try rollerblading again. I'm 49 next month, but you starting at 37 (I know you've still a long way before 49 haha!) and mostly the comments on this vid have helped make me believe in myself a bit more with regards to re-learning and at some point becoming as good as you look on the skates. I don't think I was ever *that* good - it pre-dated my ice skating tuition so I couldn't even go backwards on rollerblades ever and we didn't have UA-cam to help learn! Back in the day my rollerblades had a pretty sophisticated braking system on the back. The Missions will be the first skates I've used with no brake pad. Kinda scary, but hey I don't have it on my ice skates either I guess haha
@@YungSouldier Yes, I built some too, If you want build leg muscles you should try fitness skating ua-cam.com/video/vk8LyEaK6Ws/v-deo.html In fitness/speed skating you have to keep low position, it uses a lot of leg muscles.
I'm 47, started to learn ice skating with my kids 3 years ago. During the pandemic, I do more inline skating during last few months and like it a lot !!
Grew up skating and playing roller hockey with my mates as a kid and that was a gateway into ice hockey. Haven't laced them up in about 12 years but just bought myself a pair of Bauer hockey skates.....went for a quick skate last night and I'm glad I haven't lost it....just like riding a bike. Now to get fit again!
You learned an amazing amount in a few short years. I’ve skated on and off for much longer, and consider myself a very good skater, but haven’t seriously attempted half of the city manoeuvres you do routinely. I think the key seems you’re very analytical and like to break things down into a series of steps, and you’re persistent and loathe to not ‘get it.’ Those are keys I always see in “fast learners.”
I started a year ago in my mid 50’s. Love it! Beginning to get a bit more comfortable. Can drag stop and turn, to stop, but haven’t yet tried power stop. Need to get that down before I venture out from my smooth 100 years of asphalt in front of my house. Great video. Thanks!
Wow. I know you always talk about how bad the pavement is where you live, but it really stood out in this video. That close up of the street at 9:26....man. Skating that on 4x80's looks rough. You must have rocks for calves. I cover some rough roads here in rural Washington state, but I'm on 3x110. I love going over the rough cut boardwalk by our marina, knees extra bent, arms out like I'm surfing it. Bystanders always seem amazed that I make the full stretch without falling on my face.
Ordered my skates today and should have them by next week. I'm 16 and I've never used skates but the versatility and conviency drew me to them. I'd love to skate through my city!
You give me hope. I'm 33 I can skate like a beginner but can't skim through the city like you do. THe fact that you did all this in just 4 years, at the age you began, I am committed to getting to your level after viewing a few of your tutorials with turns and power braking. Canadian (ice hockey fan) here.
Wrong side of 50 here but enjoying skating in the FR1's I bought last year. Not quite progressed from deserted car parks under cover of darkness yet, but looking forward to rolling some parks & cycle paths when I've mastered an effective stopping technique. I'm about to swap frames from 3x110 to 4x80 to see if it helps me progress a little quicker. I fear my limited skills are not (yet) up to speed for a 3x110 set-up. Really excellent videos by the way.
That's great you have got into skating. I think you will find 4x80s a little easier to control and turn in so they should make stopping easier. I prefer 4x80 but I still enjoy 110s.
Fascinating your inline skating story. I did enjoy it and listen to it, at least, once again. Two years ago you had already 5000 subs and now we are many many more. Glad for fyou. Stay safe on your wheels. my thumb up from Almería, in Spain.
dude. i have no idea how you're going around the town so smooth. i remember trying to skate around my housing estate as a kid and every little rock and crack fucking me up lol. but I've just ordered some inline skates and I'm ready to try again. thats probably where people's perceptions of it being dangerous come from: its marketed to kids so often as something easy to do when its not. i imagine many people fell like i did (and i had ice skated reasonably well before trying it)!
It's just practice that has made me a more confident skater. I think you are correct, skating is thought by most people as a kids thing unfortunately. Glad to hear though you have some skates on the way. Good luck and enjoy.
OOO man you are awesome!!! Not just as a skater bot as a person to, I can feel that right away! So honest and normal, modest. I started skating a few years ago, i landed on my chin and stopped but few week ago I had a wish to continue skating so i bought a new pair of boots. And now surfing the yt here I am, on your channel! You now gave me such a boost of energy to continue skating and improve myself. THANKS! And yes, i am subscribing right away!!!
I’ve had skates for a few days now and I’m still absolutely terrified of them but videos like this always inspire me to keep going :,) I hope I can get decent by summer
Great video, and great advice as always. It's always interesting to find out how others got into skating. For anyone who feels they're too old to get started - you aren't. I started around the time I turned 48 (50 now). It's been an amazing journey so far, including skating long distances, commuting, and using skateparks. You can do it. The long-term payoff is massive once you've got past those awkward first few months. Do it! You'll be so glad you did.
@@YungSouldier I'm pretty lame as skating goes, but even at my modest level my legs have never been stronger than in the three and a half years since I started. Several people have commented on how conditioned they look, which for a lazy-ass couch slug is some achievement 😉
Just ordered my first pair of inline skates - I'm 55. I skated (ice and quad) TONS as a kid, and also just bought my first pair of skis, which I've taken out several times and I'm absolutely loving it! I never could do a full hockey stop on ice skates, so I'm a bit nervous to learn that on the inline skates, but I can do it on skis. I need something to do when the snow is gone that will keep me in ski condition, and I live near a miles-long paved trail & would like to take my dog with me. May fall on my face if he passes another dog, so I prob have to get pretty good before I do that. Thanks for sharing your story!
Nicely done, sir. I always enjoy your commentary, so keep it up. Your use of the phrase “Hello world!” suggests that you might be a software engineer. Your methodical approach to learning to skate is another clue that you’re a critical thinker by trade! I was glad to hear your mentioning the rough terrain in Cheltrnham; I’ve always been surprised how much rough you tolerate, and it reminds me of my skating days in the UK as a child. These days I skate much smoother purpose-built trails and city streets in the US. We have it very good here! I skate a pair of Rollerblade Twister 80mm, and a pair of Rollerblade Tempests 110mm. Keep it up! Thanks.
Thanks alot for watching and glad you like the commentary. Software engineer..... Nice guess but no! Don't want to say exactly what I do but I do sit in front of a computer all day. This is a big reason I need to get out skate as often as I can. We do have alot of rough terrain here but I've grown to love the challenge. I do envy you though with all that smooth asphalt (i can do american english 😉) Do you ever get back to the UK?
WHITTYskater yes, I do get back to the UK, but less so now that I have so much going on here (wife and teenagers), plus it’s about $2000 for a return flight during the summer, so unless I fly solo it’s really cost prohibitive.
I’m 19 and iv even skating for about 2 years, my mum recently bought some skates and now I’m excited to have a skating partner outside of artistic skating lessons hehe
Never too late to learn! A step up from boring old footbal. Am 45 yo and i sold it to myself as knee friendly jogging, which i hate, then i realuzed what a superpower it is, been hooked ever since
Like the mighty ducks top the mighty ducks movies were my favourite films about 23 years ago when I was massively into street hockey. I've recently got back into the skating as my son has just started. looking forward to some better weather roll on the summer. Brilliant video's
I’ve just gone down the rabbit hole of in-line skating today, and it brings back some memories. I loved being bambi on my cheap and uncomfortable skates as a kid. I plan on saving up some money for a pair of skates I’ve got my eyes on. Though I think the rough roads of the uk will be a welcome challenge!
You just described exactly where I am, watching videos and eyeing up boots online, looking forward to a purchase soon! I'm 44 and been riding carver skateboards for a few years now, time for a change up! Great video man, looking very fluent on your blades 👊
Used to inline skate as a teenager but quit after I got into skateboarding and shortly after quit again because I grew out of it around 18. I now am 30 and looking to get back into blading and just flowing around the city with some challenges along the way like jumps. Looking forward to my skates coming in soon!
I am really loving your videos. As a 31 year old, I have just bought my first pair of rollerblades since I was 12. My fiancee bought some skates as well! Really looking forward to getting out on Southend Seafront with them. I'm now a subscriber so keep the videos coming!
Just turned 27. I've always been in to cycling and kick biking (not kids scooters, but large 26" wheeled kick bikes). I'm now looking for another wheel based skill to learn, and some videos of inline scating on here. The biggest hurdle for me is always self confidence and what people will think in public. But I can't wait to give this a go. Looks great fun.
Mate you have really good skills. I´m 40 and I used to skate about more or less 10 years ago, I jumped on my old roller skates a few weeks ago and I felt pain inmmediatelly but because my 5 years old daugther is learning I decided got back on track, I am buying new ones this week and start to hit the road again, just for fun, I really enjoyed before and I pretty sure this kind of practice helps a lot with your health, that is my goal. Keep it up mate. Good videos.
Started at 49 since my 5 year old son started Ice Hockey. Been inline skating for 1 month now. I have have progressed pretty well so far. I can do drag stops, and power stops, and practicing one footers. Get a bit wobbly still as my body is still working on getting the full balance. Once I master those, I will work on transitions and backwards. It's a great addition to my normal workouts too. Thanks for all the tutorials and info.
Practice frequently and you'll notice some serious improvement. It's a lot harder to get into as an adult vs as a child because you don't have the same level of brain elasticity - if you ask me that's just an excuse to get out and roll more.
Get some break pads and find an empty parking lot and spend hours practicing your power stop...it took me about a few weekends to get confident in a decent stop...mine is still more of power slash, than power stop, but it gets the job done in the area that I am in. Keep on Rolling Bro!
@@jakobc1998 thx for the advice, my big problem is fear, I have fallen not too much, when I fall my pads protect me, and I know I won't be enjuried but for some reason, when I'm going to learn something like back transition or just a very close turn, my body gets blocked. I have to do a real effort to go over that feeling. I will try what you say, I need a good brake technique to feel save
listening to you talk about hitting 5k at this videos release, i notice you now have 25K. good stuff m8, thanks for giving me some inspiration to start skating again at 27yo.
Never too late. I'm 44 I shared my skills with my son 13 years old, and now he is better than me ;) Good luck everybody. My goal is to learn a bit more about slalom inline skates.
@@whittyskater Def.! I am new to skating in EU maybe you could do a video on skate equipment in the EU? Or even the rules and regulations on skating certain road types (Roundabouts were strange to me as an american)? Thanks again for the awesome videos!
Just the channel I needed to find! Just started skating... aged 39. Also... suddenly recognised GlosCat mini buses in your videos... a fellow Gloucestershire citizen! Just up road in Tewkesbury ☺️
I've been skating since I was like 6 years old, but when I was out of my teens the hobby kind of faded away. I recently moved to Munich and picked it back up, thankfully it not a skill you forget when once had it. The level of freedom it gives you when it comes to traversing the city is amazing. And with good bike infrastructure here there is tons of great space to skate. The lane along the river has got to be my favorite. It is not even that rare here, I regularly see other people skating.
You're the best! I love the visual because it really inspires me to get out there and skate AND catch up to your skill level! Makes me feel better about your experience (including the bumps) to get to were you are! Thank you 😃
I can't believe how much in each practice session something develops. I two months beginner. I'm not sure how far I can go with this but I only want to do it for fitness and skate along the beach. I will try to learn as many techniques as possible
Nice video & I enjoyed what you said. I like cycling but decided I wanted to give inline skating a go. I began going to a rink & riding on quad skates. I never really got it then I strained my knee from skating. I can’t stand up on my inline skates without them rolling out from under me. I hit my head twice & didn’t do the rest of my body any favors. But I’m not giving up. I’m going on the bike path on my quad skates now wearing upgraded indoor/outdoor wheels in the summer assuming I can go outside. I also bought a unicycle to learn something new Work on balance which I hope will help with inline skating. That should also give me confidence which I don’t have on inline skates. Also watching your videos is really helping me keep my interest up & desire to skate. Thanks so much. You’re awesome! Stay safe. 👍☮️🌞
You are so lucky for living in a flat city. I have to learn downhill techniques just to get from a to b. And it's not allowed to roll on the slightly crowed street. I have to stay on the sidewalks so carving is pretty hard when I have a steep hill in front of me.
I am lucky yes. Cheltenham is mostly flat which has been really good to learn on. I guess you just have to make the most of what you have. You'll be an awesome downhill skater though!
To me it makes sense to be both into cycling and inline skating. There is something narrative and journey-like to both I haven't been able to find in other sports. I should also try some aggressive btw, it's not my thing but I guess there is a lot to be incorporated into city skating. As always thanks for the video!
I started yesterday! I am 32. I was a snowboarder and did inline casually. I had 4 kids in 10 years with my husband and my body has lost its athletic build even though I am "in shape". I want something challenging, good cardio and fun. So excited to practice.
Glad to see a lot of older folks here, but being a 19-year-old university student who has started regular skating again and with skating in my area being well not considered "cool" I just dont care it's so much fun it was embarrassing at first especially on campus but once you get over it. you sort of become empowered as you don't let others judgment get to you. My hopes are that my frequent skating could give others the confidence to give it a try and come out so I could have others to skate with.
I like you keep giving yourself good gift, things to learn! Your life seems very interesting you keep you busy in fun way☺️ I hope I’m like u even when I get old I like challenges
Once i did almost die and then my skills turned into a better shape. Its all about fear and dont have fear, and maybe skate until your body is sweating
OH MY GOD WHAT SKATES ARE THOSE!!! You might go over it but I’m not done with this video yet and so excited to get back into skating. I’m 33 and ready to get back into it (I used to skate a lot as a kid but never learned any solid technique).. I am getting my PhD in physical education soon and ill be moving into a nice city and considering skating around to and from class.
I’m 16 and started skating pretty young, probably about 7 or 8. Then my skate broke and I took a big 3 year break until I finally bit the bullet and ordered some new skates. I’ve not managed to get back into it fully but I can’t recommend it enough. It’s never too late to start and it builds muscle and stamina while all being a bit of good fun whether you choose to learn tricks or just go out for an hour
Started again last year with 43 years... Still love it, you're never too old to skate!!!🤙😁

@@lisapet160 They are quite soft. Like a canvass. Perhaps I will need something more solid ?
Good luck buddy getting back into skating. You are going to have alot of fun I'm sure!
@@whittyskater thanks man - all the best!
How is it going?
I sincerely appreciate you sharing your experience. I skated and really, really enjoyed it as a kid, and as age 30 I was wondering if it’s too old to start again. Seeing you start learning skates at 37 and your progression really inspired me to pick up the hobby again. Thank you! I just ordered some skates and will be receiving them next week.
Awesome. Have fun on those skstes!
Do you still use them? How’s it going? 🤞
Amazing that you started at 37! I'm 30 and just started skating. Good to know I'm not too old to get started. You're an inspiration!
You are certainly not too old!
Dude, you're in your 40's?!?! Unreal man. I hope to age like you. You're looking great.
If you have an easy life like an office job then your body will be good into your late 50s no problem
@@deldiaHmmm not any office I've ever been in most people age about 10-20 years working in an office environment.
I started skating one month ago and it's amazing dude, I wish I could be skating just like you.
Welcome to skating buddy. You'll soon improve. It's just practice.
Quad skater over here, I LOVE hearing from inline skaters, nice video and story!
Awesome! Thank you!
I am 47and starting , like you said your stoping tutorial video is how I found you , nice job mate all the best keep doing videos and ride the streets , it is indeed tons of fun
Thanks for watching
Just watched this video a second (or even a third time?!). I just want to express my appreciation for what you are doing! You (and many others) have been an inspiration for me last year to buy new inline skates after more than 15 yrs without skating. A had a little experience skating when I was in my teens, but not much. Now I just bought a second pair: the FR1 Deluxe - finally! I already ordered a pair earlier this year, but that was one size down and unfortunately the bigger size has been sold out.
Happy skating and love from Germany to you all!
Great to hear you are enjoying skating so much
I brought my first inline at my 35th birthday yesterday.. now try to skate .. man u r an inspiration, i got my skates
Have fun!
I also started inline skating at the age of 38 this year with my two kids. it's so fun. It's new hobby too. I also love cycling, running, gym.
Very personal. Nice. Thanks
Thank you. 👍
Cheers buddy. Yeah it was city skating that really made me want to learn to skate. I'm so glad I tried it. Can't imagine my life without skating now!
omg this is an amazing video. I am 35 y/o and am going to dive into inline skating for exactly the same reasons you did. Thank you for sharing this experience.
Thanks for watching
Very helpful. I have ordered mine due to arrive soon. Cant wait. Havent done it since i was a teenager. Really excited to get them

I started doing this last week at 25. I used to do it a lot as a teen but stopped. I decided to pick it up again because of videos like this! Thanks~~
Good luck and thanks for watching. 🙏
I also bought my first inline roller at 37. I m learning by myself, but it takes quite a while before I feel confident enough to go around Paris!thanks for sharing your experience!
That's awesome you have started skating. I love Paris (visited two times in the past) I would love to skate there one day!
Thank you! I've tried to embrace our terrible paths!
Been thinking of picking up some skates. Turning 37 in Nov, encouraging to see how much you can progress in a few short years.
I've been skating for 12 yrs. Combined with ice skating, I think I will never get bored with this
Awesome!
Thanks alot for watching. Have fun with your skating and I hope you find a buddy some time soon. 👊👍
Thank you for taking time to produce this! Cool to hear the stories of others. Cheers mate!
Very good video, as always. I started the same way 4years ago and on the same excellent Seba skates. I found as considerably older than you, learning takes far longer your much more advanced in techniques than I. I started my own skate group in 2016, about 80 members now, L. A. SKATERS, in Littlehampton.
Roll on 👍.
Congrats on the skate group. That's awesome.
Have you noticed their calves getting bigger from skating? Thinking about adding this to my routine if it will build some size on my legs
I started at 27, and I used your videos to know how to stop. Thanks dude :)
That's cool to hear buddy. 🙏👍
Have you noticed their calves getting bigger from skating? Thinking about adding this to my routine if it will build some size on my legs
@@YungSouldier Yes, I built some too, If you want build leg muscles you should try fitness skating ua-cam.com/video/vk8LyEaK6Ws/v-deo.html
In fitness/speed skating you have to keep low position, it uses a lot of leg muscles.
Great video and awesome channel. Thanks for inspiring those just starting out, like me!
Thanks alot. 🙏
I'm 47, started to learn ice skating with my kids 3 years ago.
During the pandemic, I do more inline skating during last few months and like it a lot !!
I used to do it as a kid. I picked up a pair of skates again at 26 and I still love it. So thrilling and fun! Good way to clear your mind
Glad to hear you are back into skating. It's alot of fun!
Really appreciate the vid. I’m turning 39 this year and this is the nudge I needed to have another go at in-line. Thanks!!
No worries. Just go for it!
You are right. I am quite analytical! I also enjoy practicing things over and over until I get the hang of them.
I started a year ago in my mid 50’s. Love it! Beginning to get a bit more comfortable. Can drag stop and turn, to stop, but haven’t yet tried power stop. Need to get that down before I venture out from my smooth 100 years of asphalt in front of my house. Great video. Thanks!
Glad you are enjoying skating. 👊
Congratulations on your progress! Learning a new technique always seems like a new gift.
Thanks for watching
I'm used to skating our rough roads now. I actually really enjoy the challenge!
Ordered my skates today and should have them by next week. I'm 16 and I've never used skates but the versatility and conviency drew me to them. I'd love to skate through my city!
Sounds good. Hope you enjoy your new skates
You will soon be rolling through the city no problems!
Just picked up a pair as I was desperate to get outside. I'm 37 this year :) Thank You for inspiration !
Nice one.
I started rollerblading about 2 months ago (at 29) and got addicted! It's an amazing workout.
Stay safe too buddy. As always thanks for watching
dude. i have no idea how you're going around the town so smooth. i remember trying to skate around my housing estate as a kid and every little rock and crack fucking me up lol. but I've just ordered some inline skates and I'm ready to try again.
thats probably where people's perceptions of it being dangerous come from: its marketed to kids so often as something easy to do when its not. i imagine many people fell like i did (and i had ice skated reasonably well before trying it)!
It's just practice that has made me a more confident skater. I think you are correct, skating is thought by most people as a kids thing unfortunately. Glad to hear though you have some skates on the way. Good luck and enjoy.
yep, along with protective gear which will also hopefully help haha. thank you! i will try scissor position straight away 🤣
Thanks for the sub. Appreciate it!
I’ve had skates for a few days now and I’m still absolutely terrified of them but videos like this always inspire me to keep going :,) I hope I can get decent by summer
Good luck!
Well said. Its all about getting past the first few months. After that anything is possible.
Have you noticed their calves getting bigger from skating? Thinking about adding this to my routine if it will build some size on my legs
@@YungSouldier I'm pretty lame as skating goes, but even at my modest level my legs have never been stronger than in the three and a half years since I started. Several people have commented on how conditioned they look, which for a lazy-ass couch slug is some achievement 😉
I am ten and I am also learning to inline skate during the pandemic and thank you for inspiring me to this fantastic new hobby
Glad you are enjoying skating
You'll be fine. If you have skated previously and these days ski there is lots of cross over in movements.
I do envy you though with all that smooth asphalt (i can do american english 😉)
Do you ever get back to the UK?

Hope you enjoy it!

Don't worry about what others think. Just enjoy and have fun.
Glad to hear you are back skating.

That's awesome. Welcome to skating!
Thanks for watching. Welcome to inline skating! Sounds like you are already progressing really well. I hope you continue to enjoy it. 👊👍
I started at 37 (few months ago), but I'm not improving very fast, I hope I can at least break like you do in the video in 3 or 4 months
Practice frequently and you'll notice some serious improvement. It's a lot harder to get into as an adult vs as a child because you don't have the same level of brain elasticity - if you ask me that's just an excuse to get out and roll more.
Don't worry about how quick you progress. Just enjoy it buddy. You'll soon improve.
Go out and keep rolling. We talk again about improving after 300 km and again after 600 km. Go out and KEEP rolling! 😉👍
I like your video of skating in your town and I also begin to play inlineskate these days

Just the channel I needed to find! Just started skating... aged 39. Also... suddenly recognised GlosCat mini buses in your videos... a fellow Gloucestershire citizen! Just up road in Tewkesbury ☺️
Hello neighbour! Good luck with the skating!
Great to hear you are back skating again and enjoying it so much. 👍👊

Stay safe. 👍☮️🌞
Thanks alot for watching my videos. I have also tried unicycling...it was really difficult!
WHITTYskater Even though I’m still not on my skates I know I will be if I live through the a Toyota Carolla virus. Stay safe. 👍☮️🌞😷
@@secretdaisy6484 stay safe too. Hope you get to skate some time soon.
Thanks for watching. Cycling and skating are both great ways to take in the world around you.

Nice video. I started inline skating afer I stopped playing ice hockey. I was missing the skating motion, it is so much fun.
Glad you are enjoying inline buddy.
I started yesterday! I am 32. I was a snowboarder and did inline casually. I had 4 kids in 10 years with my husband and my body has lost its athletic build even though I am "in shape". I want something challenging, good cardio and fun. So excited to practice.
Good luck. You'll love it and it does provide good cardio.
Man what an inspiration
Keep it up 💪
Thank you
Glad to see a lot of older folks here, but being a 19-year-old university student who has started regular skating again and with skating in my area being well not considered "cool" I just dont care it's so much fun it was embarrassing at first especially on campus but once you get over it. you sort of become empowered as you don't let others judgment get to you. My hopes are that my frequent skating could give others the confidence to give it a try and come out so I could have others to skate with.
Hey buddy. Your attitude is exactly correct. I'm sure you will inspire others to give it a go. 👊👍
They are FR1s
@@whittyskater of course I wrote that then watched like 5 more videos and found that out. Problem now is finding where to purchase a pair from..
Cool to hear you are stating again.
