I live in the US and bought a global rom Mi 9 off of aliexpress. I felt like I took a risk because when researching things it seemed like it may not work fully where i live and thought the miui os might be kind of weird. Ive been using this phone for a couple of weeks and at first i hated miui (ive only used vanilla android and oxygen os for the past 10 years) but after having to figure out everything about it and using it all the time im extremely surprised at how much i like it now. Pretty much what i have to say is everything works just fine over here in the states with xiaomi and would recomend getting one since the price is so good for the phone you get.
Same. I had difficulty choosing between Mi 8 and Mi 9, but I'm glad I chose Mi 9, Game Turbo is so good. Adreno 640 at this price range is really worth it. I also considered waiting for Poco F2, but I realized they will compromise build quality to drop the price, so I went for Mi 9 and I am happy with it.
The Mi 9 is widely available in Europe from many large retailers (so no China stores shipping from Hong Kong but e.g. Media Markt which compares to Best Buy) for 450 USD excl taxes. This is a global version of the phone which excludes many China exclusive things like Mi Pay and comes with Google services pre-installed. Xiaomi started selling their phones in Europe last year, I'm using a Mi 8 as my daily device. So I guess Europe no longer qualifies as western market? :(
With only 128gb and no expandable storage on the Mi 9, the 256gb Explorer edition may be a better option for a lot of people. And the transparent back looks cool too.
Jonathan I prefer to use the cloud as a backup only, and store all my data on my devices. Using the cloud increases my data usage (which I'm paying for) and I've had one too many times where the cloud was unavailable. My current phone is 64gb and no expandable storage, and I'm constantly having to do storage management for it. So for me I'll do 128gb WITH expandable storage or a minimum of 256gb without.
If people want pure Android they can get a number of phones that run on stock Android. This is a fun phone to use and have a lot of things that you will use once you find them that is. I got this over the OnePlus and I'm glad I did
I currently have the mi8 was contemplating on getting mi9 but when I found out of it doesn't have expandable store kinda put me off on getting it. Even tho miui doesn't have a app drawer, I got Nova Prem to compensate which works really good in xiaomi phones. Maybe I'll get the mi mix3 or mix4 (when it's release)
Doesn't the Global Version work in the States? It certainly works in Europe but the lack of SD card support is a deal-breaker. The phone takes 4K video at 60fps and that means BIG BIG files. 128gbs sounds a lot but it's not if you are going to use the camera for 4K video recording. I would want 256gbs minimum for a phone with no SD card support and even then I would be forever checking how much memory I had available. Super phone at a great price point but reluctantly I would pass it by for that very reason.
@@saltysoysauce954 It's not about using one at a time, I wanted to have and try them all so when people are like until you try it you don't know if it's worst or better. Well I have tried them all. The mi 9 is by far the best Flagship on the market.

I would be very interested in trying out a Xiaomi phone in the future. But they complete got rid of the headphone jack on almost all their devices, so they are not an option for me...
Pocophone F1 still has headphone jack , but both the Poco and Mi 9 have limited LTE Bands ( I don't think they work well in the US ) unlike the Mi 8 or Mi Mix 3.

@@anybr3712 100% agree with what he just said ... Its really an amazing phone for the price at nearly half the other major flagships ... At this pricepoint , choice u have is mi9 or wait out for the oneplus 7 or asus zenfone 6z or pocophone f2... They will.be slightly more expensive (except for pocophone) with about the same specs ... so my advice is wait till end of may till they have been released for your final buying decision
I love my mi 9. And yes! It actually is available in Europe.
I almost bought it, I had it in my hand, but the recording in video changed my mind xd
Amazing pohne for the piece, but mi 9t pro will be more futuristic xd
The fact the Mi series devices don't have headphone jacks anymore is a huge bummer for me, it's why I'm sticking to Redmi. Better pricing too. And better battery life. Just upgraded from a Note 4 to a Note 7.
hello it doesn't work in America right? Like bands #2, 4, 66 and 71 therefore is none existing modification hacks to unlock those channel bands
Great video!! I really wish the @Xiaomiwould bring their phones to the US. I would love to use one
Overall i like the Mi 9 but too bad is doesn't have headphone jack.. Great vid sir...
But don't forget that in the box is included a cable for the headphone jack.

I must say it's amazing😍👌
Xiaomi has been killing it recently. I bought a Pocophone a few days ago and I never been so happy with a smartphone since ever
what about the battery is it enough to complete a day with heavy usage??
please do a comparison with the new Xiaomi Redmi k20 pro. as always great review!
Sounds about right. This what Mi series is about. I just wait for their next Poco, though I would like to have that 48MP camera
2:04 So mi 9 do support The Elder Scrolls: Blades??? Wow.. I'm gonna consider buying it then. Please confirm sir?
Xiaomi will never have the best smartphone but will always have the best smartphone by value
Never say never...
No one mentions the dual GPS... Who is the Mi 9 for? Every outdoorsman, ATV enthusiast, fisherman, hiker, hunter, forager etc, some nerds get out the house... The main reason why I'm holding on to my mi 8
Renegade 1 how good is the dual gps compare to other phones standard gps when using googlemaps?
@@vjfyang well, twice as accurate
@@TheMaverick613 really not a big difference
@@stratosm3154 in accuracy when there's overhead cover, such as in a forest, absolutely a big difference. That's where it matters, and that was the point
Every person you mentioned would require a water resistant phone which Xiaomi is not.
I did not know you started your own channel. Subscribed.
Im using mi9 for gaming and guess what? Its buttery smooth! Battery? No problem for gaming.
Jonathan
I prefer to use the cloud as a backup only, and store all my data on my devices.
I am using this, I fall in love it
Mi8 is also with about three quarter of the price of Mi9..
Would you get this phone over the op 7pro? Thinking about getting this cause of the price and it seems like a good phone. Right now I have a lg g7.
If people want pure Android they can get a number of phones that run on stock Android. This is a fun phone to use and have a lot of things that you will use once you find them that is. I got this over the OnePlus and I'm glad I did
My dad got this phone for 400 euro and thats what they go for here in Lithuania.
He's very happy with it and gonna use it for a WHILLLEEE
I currently have the mi8 was contemplating on getting mi9 but when I found out of it doesn't have expandable store kinda put me off on getting it. Even tho miui doesn't have a app drawer, I got Nova Prem to compensate which works really good in xiaomi phones. Maybe I'll get the mi mix3 or mix4 (when it's release)
who is the redmi k20 pro for?
According to the Mi website the Mi 9 has limited LTE Bands compared to the Mi 8 , Mi Mix 3 and Mi Mix 2S . Check before you buy if you live in the US.
Normal, wide, 48.
Best cámara showcase.
whats the name of the lockscreen theme? thanks
Cool review though even it was 7 mins but it seems not that long u did a great job 👍👍🙌
I have got the MI 9 transparent explorer edition..I love it ...
Got rid if my note 9, iPhone 8 plus, mate 20x, this is my new daily driver

The phone actually uses graphite material for heat displacement.
You didn't mention the battery life, how is it since it's only 3300 mah
Yes please Josh we would like to know your daily usage!
There's an option to enable 60fps video without quality loss, tested it out and it looks amazing
Weird how 30fps is actually the default option though
I think the eis only supports 30fps, so 60fps would be shaky
Bro which keyboard are you using?
I only wished the battery capacity was bigger. It's a really good phone.
What do you even want to use it for?
Pubg lasts for 5 hours for me, on the Mi 9
@@pyrrehraus6571 I'm not much of a gamer. Well more battery is always welcomed. I do own Poco F1 and the battery lasts 1 day or more which I use heavily taking photos videos and using social networks for audio and video calls.
battery can actually compensate since 855 is very much efficient due to 7nm fabs, you should get around 7-8 medium to heavy use with 3000mAh+ batt

Would love to jump from my poco to mi9. Sadly they dont release mi9 in my country, Indonesia. They only release redmi series here. They did release mi8 but only the lite version. I certainly can buy imported ones from local distributors, but i do need the after sale services. When my mi5 broke, i couldnt get it repaired. Since they did not release it here. So, it is hard to get original spare parts.
No,don't.
Poco is a better value and there is no big difference with Mi 9.

Mi mix 3 or mi 9?

New to Chinese phones. How would I download all normal apps I want (Netflix, Hulu, Dropbox, whatever...here in the US)?
The thing is I dont really enjoy the MIUI that xiaomi phones have, plus every now and then you will run into ads, so, is there a chance to change the UI to TouchWiz leys say?
Is Miui better than One UI? I like the One UI interface, but my J4 Plus gets really laggy sometimes.
