The Dutton family owns the largest farm in the United States, which is adjacent to Yellowstone Park. The Duttons have a series of battles with various forces to defend the farm and fight for the land!

That line about dust in Jimmy's eyes was pretty cool of Travis.

I agree why didn’t rip tell Jimmy in person that John had died he could’ve invited Jimmy down to the Yellowstone to tell him in person. It would’ve been better to do that.
@@rudycarlson8245Jimmy wore the brand but he's free. he was better off far away from the Yellowstone and everyone knew it. Jimmy already almost had to choose the ranch over the love of his life, it would be selfish to drag him back into it. rip really didn't have the heart to tell him, but Travis was understanding enough for the both of them

Travis has a love-hate relationship with Jimmy. You get the sense he cares about him but he shows it the wrong way.

@@ascendantlogic Indeed. Sheridan is a controversial character but Costner has been a problem to work with for decades. With movies, it's usually not to hard for people to push though it. With a long term TV show, it was bound to be an issue.
The reality is the best thing that could of happened for Dutton Ranch and the SHOW is John dying. John was the villain of the show the same way Walter White was the villain of Breaking Bad. He cared more about the ranch than his own children. He was a horrible father to his adopted son and, with the help of his wife, he turned Beth into a psychopath. The only reason people like his character is because it was played by Kevin Costner and that the character himself occasionally had a moment of actual warmth, the same way people in abusive relationships cling to their partners to catch the odd pearl of love in the sea of abuse they cause. He hired criminals and orphans to make them commit crimes for him under the threat of death. I don't think John Dutton was a truly bad person, but his actions spoke way louder than his words.

Taylor killed John because Costner wasn’t coming back and there was nothing else he could do with the character. Costner didn’t want to do Yellowstone anymore because he was working on his trash western movie series. He said as much in court during the divorce proceedings. It’s not like John would move to California or something.
He’s had multiple shows going along side Yellowstone for years, that wasn’t the issue, Kevin Costner left the show so they had to do something to explain his absence. I doubt he would’ve purposely tarnished the shows ending so close to the finish
Supposedly, the ending with the Ranch being sold to the Reservation was always going to be the ending. The only difference is that John was supposed to still be around, at least until the last episode

Actually Costner wanted time to work on other projects, so he asked for a shortened shooting schedule in Season 5, not more money. Then he and Sheridan started butting heads on creative and schedule in general. Maybe try actually looking for facts before you pretend you have a clue about anything. Makes you look like an idiot.
Sadly The Show Runner not wanting to Pay Kevin Costner what he was asking for and believing that they will continue and be able to make it better without Him time will Tell..🤔

I am so sick of you idiots thinking that Taylor Sheridan was to blame for this. Kevin Costner did it to himself. He had to go and make his movies his two-part Western feature called Horizon he chose to leave. The other cast members like Luke Grimes agree that Kevin Costner made it difficult.
Kosner said in an interview that he didn't know what was gonna happen to John Dutton's character. He didnt say he knew and couldn't tell. He said he had to wait for the script like everyone else to see what comes of John Dutton
