    Honestly man, I paused every single photo on that reel at the end just to enjoy the sheer beauty of each photograph. You have an incredible eye for detail and colour, and that has nothing to do with what camera you have in your hands. Endlessly inspired by your work bro. 🙌🏼😭

    Hi there! I love your work and am exploring analog a lot more now. Starting out with a 500cm on rent but the Mamiya 7ii is just more compact and I love the rangefinder.
    Say, how does the output compare in your eyes to the GFX100 series you have been using?

    I saved up and bought the Mamiya 7 with a 80mm lens a couple years ago, and it really is the perfect system for making stunning photos. Everything you said is spot on, this camera is a dream.

    I used a Mamiya 7ii for many years and sold it and the 3 lenses a couple of years ago. Decided to stick with 4x5 for film photography. It was annoying about the rangefinder calibration...had to do that a couple times. I'd recommend the 50mm lens over the 43mm. I found the 43mm a bit too wide and required the external viewfinder which made focusing and composing a bit awkward, more so if most of your shots are handheld. Too bad no one makes 220 film anymore...I loved not changing rolls so often.

    Great vid thanks Samuel. I'm also in love with my Mamiya 7ii, by far the best camera I've ever owned. I have a few cameras but these days only ever use this camera and a tiny little 35mm, the Olympus 35 RC which has a great lens and fits in my top pocket, so these two are a great combo for travelling, hiking etc. When I bought it I felt a tad guilty spending so much on the Mamiya but the price I paid was way less than they go for now. I have a 50, 80 and 150mm lenses and probably use the 50mm the most. The 43mm should go well with your 65mm. I'm tempted to get the 210mm to complete the set and may be useful for my main go which is landscapes, but not being coupled with the rangefinder I'm expecting it to be not all that easy to use. Love your channel, keep up the good work. Good tip on the calibrating the rangefinder btw, I better go out and check mine.

    • @randallstewart175
      @randallstewart175 2 роки тому

      A 210mm lens which must be focused by guessing the focal distance. Well, at infinity, there is no guess. Any other focal distance - ridiculous. The shame of it is that there is no technical reason Mamiya could not have designed and built a rangefinder which would adequately focus that small aperture 210mm lens. They just didn't bother doing it right. It's not like it is rocket science. Konica put a rangefinder in their Koni Omega in the late 1960s which focuses a 180mm 4.5 lens just fine for the same film format, and that focal distance and the 4.5 aperture requires a much higher degree of accuracy than the Mamiya lens. Same thing regarding the numerous owner complaints that the rangefinder is always going out of adjustment and has to be re-calibrated. Just substandard engineering.

    Too bad it's an electronic camera. If one single IC on the circuit board dies, your Mamiya becomes a brick.

    Hey I have shot in 120 film a few times but always go back to 35mm. Why do you shoot 120 over 35? Obviously you get a way bigger negative but do you really need that?

    Mamiya 7ii is used by David Bailey and it would be used by me if I was rich.
    Instead I use my 1957 Yashica Mat with a 75mm 3.5 Lumaxar lens.
    Robust and easy to focus with a really sharp lens. I meter using a Nikon FE with a 24mm 2.8 lens.
    I have a 75 to 150 3.5 Nikon E series zoom lens. My complete outfit.

    I am ready for a full frame camera but the prices are way out of my budget. so if you were in my shoe, would you get the 6400 instead of the a7iii and use it professionally for both photo and video? it is a major upgrade from my current camera but the only reason i'm hesitant is that the 6400 is not full frame.
