Latex: Main Pros and Cons
The Birch Plush Pillow Top contains a 3-inch layer of all-natural latex. This material is naturally very responsive. While it does provide excellent contour, it quickly regains its shape when you remove your body weight. Therefore, if you like the feel of memory foam, you won’t like the feel of latex. However, if memory foam isn’t your thing, latex can prove to be an excellent option since it’s about as far from the visco feel as it gets.
Although the excellent response can be a great fit for anyone who likes a little boost when it comes to getting in and out of bed and/or moving around, one of the main cons is that it’s often not as accommodating when it comes to motion transfer reduction.
During our video review, we took a look at how well the Birch topper did at keeping motion isolated to the point of impact. We performed our testing using the complementary Birch mattress, so these results will vary depending on what mattress you’ll be using. However, it still gives you a good idea of what to expect in that top layer.
