- DIY public land deer hunting trailer. I have modified this simple cargo trailer and set it up for hunting. Rather than loading and unloading a pickup, I just leave all my hunting
gear in this trailer so I can just hook up and hit the road. Enclosed Trailer to Hunting Camper Conversion. It's a hue benefit to DIY public land deer hunting. - Спорт
Finally a guy that makes it super simple and easy ,... thank you
You're welcome!
Great idea. Something I might do myself.
Notes to self: it's a used 6'x16' single axle cargo trailer with back ramp and left side entry door.
Go for it!
Nice job! Set up for hunting: mobile camping… not too fancy , gets the job done… and it’s organized 👍 B Deacon Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦
Diesel heater, is easy to install and works great for cargo trailers, 👍highly recommend 😊
Thanks for the tip!
great ideas. I'm looking to set up a trapping trailer and this helped
Glad to hear it!
I love the enthusiasm. To put together a trailer and spend multiple nights in the middle of nowere chasing wild animals all for the love of it , is true to the game. Love and appreciate everything that hunting represents and the type of men it produces. Keep it up man , great job glad i just bought a 6.5x 16 enclosed trailer . Probably the best hunting decision i ever made. Thanks .for the tips
Looks great! Thanks for sharing. Thinking about putting one together one of these days. Having a saddle to hunt from instead of them treestands will give me enough room to maybe add a bed to nap on.
awesome !!!! .....hope you have been having a great time using it sir..... thumbs up....!!
Love it man. Great ideas. If you get a chance, show how you have the genny set up.
I too used a cargo trailer to hunt and camp out of for several years. It worked great. I heated with propane and it did OK. You really should insulate it though.
Absolutely.. Your going to freeze without insulation.
Fill your freezer with one gal bottles an freeze them, then when ever you power up the rig it will freeze up efficiently an you can pull the bottles out if need be as you fill it with processed meat an use the unfrozen water for drinking
Or washing, we RV around the country an do this when we travel, works like a champ an you can't have enough water in camp, I know I bow hunt to.
I did the same thing but I don't sleep in it. I'm a Trapper and one of the main reasons I love it is I can take all my Trapping gear. I'm able to wash, flesh, and heat the trailer to begin the process of boarding and drying my pelts. I don't think I would sleep well in there where dead animals have been skinned.. Unless you have a serious sinus problem.. This is what campers are for. I have a slide in camper and pull the cargo trailer. If you don't have a good truck to haul it all this might not work for you. But if you get shot an animal it's bad enough to have to skin it. Sleeping in there ... No Thanks.. Happy Hunting 👍
Great job man. I see so many people putting $10-15 k into a trailer and i wonder why they wouldnt just get a camper.
Like it! Thanks for sharing
Looking good! Great idea for the deepfreeze and butchering table. I've used a 7x14 trailer for hunting in cold weather with a small wood stove. I would caution you on the propane heater, just opening a window would be ok for daytime use but I would not go to sleet with an un-vented propane heater inside.
Nice! Basically what I have in mind to do.
Go for it, you will be glad you did.
It’s funny that I discovered your channel a couple months ago while researching bear baiting and well it helped me tremendously. I shot my first bear, a brute in Idaho , around 400lbs. Your channel was the single best resource for success I had. On my way back to Wisconsin, I was talking with the wife about doing something like this. I wonder how much you use your trailer since you bought it? I have expensive tents and camp stoves, cots, generators, tables, cabinets laying around, ect. and I find that I personally am a minimalist. I have thousands of dollars in camping gear and I’ll set it up but often just sleep in my vehicle. Guys I’ve traveled out West with trailers have gotten stuck with broken axles and lost ATV keys, ect. I seem to do better with less. Not sure I want to invest just yet? Sometimes less is more? I guess I would need some convincing from a trusted source
I used the trailer a TON and pulled it for many miles down rough roads until it wore out and started to fall apart so I had to park it and I'm now using it as a storage shed. Currently deciding if I should do another one.
It would be sweet if you decided to fit it out with stove pipe access so you can run one of those collapsible wood burning stoves and fit a stove pipe vent fan to get the proper venting when just using propane.
GREAT VIDEO! It's simple and basic, just like what I'm looking to do with my cargo trailer. It gave me some fantastic ideas as I formulate a floor plan for my conversion. However, I will be using a propane heater for heat so I'm still deciding between installing a small window, or two small vents, for air/oxygen ventilation. I plan to install battery powered/switch and lights to improve lighting. I also plan to install electrical outlets/extension chord hookup for when I'm camping at a state park with hookups. I like your table leg extensions. I hadn't thought of that! I'm interested in learning more about your wiring hookup for your battery and your insulation. I also like your cabinet installation. I've been skeptical about installing hanging cabinets ... worried if the walls could support them. I was considering large portable coolers for meat transport, but I'm not reconsidering the use of an electric chest cooler because of your video. I'd appreciate your thoughts on any of these ideas! Thanks for sharing!
I haven't installed any electric other than the 12V for lighting, but I do have a cord and an outlet strip so I can run an electric heater and the freezer when plugged in. I often use a little Honda 2000 generator with this rig. It allows me to use the freezer.
What about insulation for the trailer walls, ceiling & floor?? Think that would be first thing to do. Make it more efficient for keeping warm or cooler even. Portable cook stove would work also. You can get propane heater that draws air from outside & also exhausts outside. Just ideas for you.
Great concept, though I don't know if I would butchered deer in my trailer?! Steel shelving & totes, all should be modular!
Cool idea, what do you do about hanging and skinning? Do you have a meatpole setup? There must be a heater that vents like a clothes dryer or put a chimney hole through roof for like a backpacker stove. I saw a guy once when I was hunting who had a horse trailer with a woodstove pipe out the back door. Seemed viable. Horse trailer was not enclosed.
Actually working on a way to hang a deer from the hitch right now. Stay tuned to my channel for more.
What's the plan for getting the freezer cool enough prior to needing it and keeping it frozen when returning home? I'm digg'n the freezer idea, thanks.
I plug the freezer in when I stay at a motel or friend's house, and if I am not staying near electricity, I use a generator to run it a few hours a day. If you don't open the freezer, it will keep stuff frozen for several days.
What brand of cot is that? I like the fact that it only needs two leg supports. it would fit well in the back of my pickup against one side over the wheel well. I've been looking for a cot like that. It beats sleeping on a plywood version of the cot.
Not sure of the brand, I bought it at cabela's several years ago.
Thanks
Have you checked out marine applications seem to be better made last longer better quality??
For size reference.. what size is that chest freezer you put in
It's about four feet long and 30 inches wide.
What size trailer is it?
14 foot
How wide and long is the table Sir
48x24
What size trailer is that
6-1/2 X 12'
How long and wide is that trailer Sir
6 x 14 inside
BowhuntingRoad Thank you Sir
How long is that trailer from the tongue to the back Sir
Ever thought about hinging the table and also make a plywood cot that was hinged? That way you wouldn't have to remove them to put your ATV in there.
The table maybe, but a plywood cot would not be very comfortable.
Insulated?!
No but that would be nice.
One can only imagine the smell after a while once you start butchering a few deer, then get some warm days. Seems that a more efficient way of freezing would be to use some quality coolers and dry ice.
I'm not sure what you think would smell. Fresh meat doesn't really smell at all; at least it sure doesn't smell bad.
I believe he means the blood and anything else that might run onto the wood floor and get into it. But that won't be an issue because it's gutted in the woods and skinned and cleaned up outside, not in the trailer. You'd be butchering the processed deer inside which will be cleaner.
Bad girls pics.

I did it with the help of Avasva solutions.
